Samad Nikkah Bahrami to NBA in the future?

6'6 SG/SF...scorer, shoots a good percentage...teams were looking to talk to him in 2008 when the NBA was getting the licenses to talk to Hamed Haddadi...but at age 28, I think his chances now are very slim. Also injury from last year is a red flag for NBA teams. He likes to penetrate, but isn't quick. China in 2009 was able to keep him in front of them...I mean he is solid, but I think that NBA teams are not going to look at him now, not at age 28 and he doesn't have any special abilities. Great respect for him and is a great player, but the NBA isn't the right spot for him.

Unless he will make fake ID and lie to NBA teams that he is 18. Maybe this time noone will notice.

The answer is simply No

but his name is Samad Nikkhah Bahrami, I think you can't spell "kh", right ? but it doesn't mean you can drop that "h" from his name !
even though from what I see, none Iranians more know him as Bahrami !

At age 28, I don't think any NBA team would take him. Don't get me wrong, I like Bahrami's style of play and he's currently my favorite player aside from Manu Ginobili. However, he's got a lot of mileage in his legs and with a history of injuries, there's very little chance that he'll get to the NBA.

Very accurate assessment. I think he's got NBA talent, but that's not enough for an international player. Unfortunately, international guards and forwards need talent and potential, which means he's too old. It's unfortunate, but that's the reality. Too many teams would rather have young guys who might be superstars someday than solid players who are good now.

It seems that he's in talks with Qingdao (CBA). Any news from the Iranian side on this?

bahrami can certainly be a great great asset to Qingdao specially that he'll be signing as a local, with 2 great imports i think that Qingdao can have a shot at the title:)

Yeah, I think he can definitely add alot of depth to Qingdao, with Bahrami they will def be a force to be reckoned with in the league

Bahrami is not athletic as shooting guards from America but he has the
guts to score.

It doesn't matter which team drafts Bahrami. He deserves to play in the NBA.

The existence of this thread is funny by itself. Samad Nikkhah is a great player and the most beloved one in Iranian basketball, but he honestly isn't NBA material. Let's get over this topic!;)

I disagree. If anyone deserves to play in the League, It's players like Arsalan Kazemi... Bahrami is not physical enough. The only player fit to play in the league from "Team Melli" is AK. He can play 35 minutes a game at ease and is the most physical player Iran has ever had.. He can defend well and is a great four/five guard. Everytime i see him play, I'm reminded of Hakim Warrick. Bahrami = Weak sauce when it comes to leagues outside of europe and asia.. I wish otherwise, but It's almost a fact. We have to admit that he's nothing but a great shooter who lacks the mobility for his size and physicality.. and has average to weak defending. If anything I would just be looking forward to AK being a decent pick in the draft. It'd be nice to see Bahrami at Barcelona.

Arsalan Kazemi and Ahmad Ibrahim are absolutly the best asian prospects to have ever come for a while (past decade), the two as i see it will have a big role in leading their countries to glory in the short future.
I'm almost sure that Arsalan Kazemi will be drafted to the NBA after his 4th year, his offensive skills are unique and his defensive skills make for a complete package, his numbers reminds me of Matt Freije's numbers in Vanderbilt, just that Kazemi is clearly a better defensive player that's why i see him lasting in the NBA unlike Freije who didint have any defensive skills to complement his formidable offensive skills:)

He is compatible to play in the Euroleagues.

That's something he is capable of doing talentwise. But will all his injuries and forced breaks hes got in the recent year I don't see him playing anywhere but Iran.(His wife gave birth to their first child a few days ago,and now Samad is taking time with her(?) for the first couple of days.)

He played in France a couple of years ago but found difficulties in adapting to the system...

I personally also think that he won't play outside Iran (like our Fadi Khatib who isn't interested in playing outside Lebanon because he wants to remain close to his family).
