Sacramento Kings Thread

Great win tonight for us, and it should definitely boost the team's spirits and confidence. As stated before, All-Star Weekend is next and we currently have Demarcus COusins competing in the Rising Stars Challenge, and we could possibly have Tyreke Evans in the Skills Challenge, although it is pretty unlikely. As for the arena plans, I am optimistic something will be worked out and we will be able to watch the Kings play in Sacramento next season. :)

Skills challenge participants:

Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) *Defending Champion
Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Tony Parker (San Antonio Spurs)
John Wall (Washington Wizards)
Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Deron Williams (New Jersey Nets)

Even Jeremy Lin is not on the list. Atleast we have Demarcus Cousins in the Rising Stars challenge. But I do feel that if Isaiah Thomas Jr. had been playing a well a month earlier, he could have been with Cousins.

Yeah, although Stephen Curry is ruled out because of an injury, so there will need to be a replacement. Next year, we might not have anyone in the competitions... Maybe Jimmer if he picks up his threes of Demarcus maybe becomes an All-Star but... Anyways, I am just hoping to see us finsh off the season +.500 as play-offs look pretty unlikely as of now...

Up next for the Sacramento Kings is a two game home stand against the visiting Utah Jazz (Feb. 28) and the high flying Los Angeles Clippers (March 1). Two winnable games.

I will definitely watch Demarcus Cousins in the Rising Stars Challenge. Cousins will be re-united with Kentucky teammate, John Wall. The chemistry is still there. I hope Cousins wins MVP and leads his team to the win.

I hope to see Tyler Honeycutt enter the dunk contest in the future. Hopefully, his career will not be a Gerald Green.

Honeycutt has hops.

Any new updates about a possible Kings Arena plan?

Negotiations continued through the night. What everyone expects is for the Maloofs to contribute something into the financing deal. If negotiations have a breakthrough on the financing, the city council must pass a vote to ratify the whole thing before March 6, 2012.

I look forward to the home game against the Utah Jazz. Demarcus Cousins and Jason Thompson will face off against the Jazz bigmen of Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors.

A very winnable game for the Kings.

A financing deal is complete with the Maloof Family contributing $70 Million to the financing scheme. City Council will set a vote among themselves for approval.

SO HAPPY!!! :D Glad the deal has gotten its' framework done... Now we just need the council to approve. I am optimistic though, this deal is great for California /Kings/Sacramentens. :D

Congrats to Kings fans, you guys are too good a fanbase to lose! They needed to be saved if only for the old Sac/LA rivalry.

The Sacramento Kings winning at home against the Utah Jazz 103-96. Demarcus Cousins with another impressive double double of 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Kings to a two game winning streak.

Marcus Thornton added 21 points. Isaiah Thomas with 18 points and 8 assists.

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal reminiscent about the Sacramento Kings - Los Angeles Lakers rivalry.

Was there genuine animosity between the Lakers and the 2002 Kings?

“It wasn’t, but I created it. I know how to get you to watch me. Okay, Sacramento is coming up and it’s already a big game, ‘Fuck them, the Sacramento Queens.’ And now everyone is talking about that. [...] The trash talk against Sacramento worked. Peja Stojakovic and Doug Christie missed open three’s down the stretch. “They were shook. Pressure busts pipes. Most of those guys were playing because of C-Webb’s balls. C-Webb had balls and White Chocolate [Jason Williams] had balls. [Writer’s Note: Williams was traded from Sacramento before the 2001–02 season, and didn’t play in that series.] Divac ain’t got no balls. Doug Christie damn sure ain’t got no balls. I would look at them during the national anthem. I could see in their eyes if they were scared. I would see Doug Christie looking and doing the thing [flashing hand signals] to his wife. I would make eye contact with Divac, and he looked down. And I was like, ‘Okay, I got him.’ C-Webb would try to look hard, but it didn’t work because his other puppies didn’t play well.”

Keith Smart has been utilizing Evans as a small forward. It is another period of adjustment for Evans. He started the season as a point guard and now is the starting small forward. In the stretch of his new role, Evans' numbers are down compared to his strong early February start.

But the upside is that the new back-court of Thomas and Thornton are productive. So as the bigmen Cousins and Thompson. I am waiting for Evans to catch on and be a point forward of the team. Evans and Thomas as playmaking personnel will open up a lot of opportunities for the other three.

Moving over, Cousins is emerging as the team's best player.

Up next for the Sacramento Kings is the visiting Los Angeles Clippers lead by prolific point guard Chris Paul and the high-flying Blake Griffin.

Tyreke Evans, Demarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette, and Marcus Thornton have all played very well tonight. Currently, we're down by 10 in the early stages of the fourth quarter, so the there is still some hope. There have been some very bad calls tonight..... Just wanted to mention that our bench has played pretty good today, and brought some nice offensive firepower. Jimmer, Salmons, Hickson, etc. really gave the team a boost, especially going into halftime (we were tied at 57 all going into the second half). Hoping we can win, become 13-22 on the season, and also continue our winning streak (we would have a three-game winning streak if we win tonight). Hoping we can pull out some magic.... :D

Sacramento Kings falling short to a comeback against the Los Angeles Clippers 108-100, Demarcus Cousins had 23pts 10rebs. Tyreke Evans 18pts 5rebs. Marcus Thornton 18pts, and Jimmer Fredette with 11pts.

We lost the battle of the match-ups: Thomas was outplayed by Chris Paul badly. Evans playing small forward had him delivered right into the pestering defense of Caron Butler. Also, the Clippers pulled away when Smart utilized Thomas at point and Fredette at off-guard. Back on Evans, Butler made things difficult for Evans.

I felt Smart would have gambled on mis-match advantage for the Kings wherein Evans would or should have started at point guard and against Chris Paul. But Smart used his starting line-up and strategically, gave the Clippers the upper-hand.
