Sacramento Kings Thread

The only player that fit that description is JJ Redick

Evans was not a total patsy against the NBA premiere SG's of Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson and John Salmons and middle tier SG's of the NBA like JJ Redick or James Harden. On the contrary, he abused a lot of big names. :)

I can only think of one game where Tyreke Evans was overwhelmed by a pure SG and that was against Kobe Bryant who scored 39 points against the Kings on late December; second of four meetings on the regular season by the Kings -Lakers. But on regular season game 3, Tyreke Evans had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists while Kobe had 26 points.

Evans also fared well against Michael Redd and Manu Ginobili, able to sustain his 20-5-5 performance.

BUT in the long-run you are asking too much from him. Not only will he carry the team offensively but will be a primary defender on the other team's premier perimeter player as well. Sure he can do it but you got to give him help (signing a defensive wing player with a three point shot should do the trick)

Definitely we are asking so much from him as he is the franchise player and he will need to sustain the offensive and defensive load if he wants to be at par with his rookie-laden categorists of Oscar Robertson.

We came close to dealing Demarcus Cousins and Samuel Dalembert for Tayshaun Prince. Prince would have fit the bill of a wing defender and 3 point range shooter. But, Petrie after much thinking, shot the trade down and instead is focusing on Donte Greene on developing him into a defensive SF at 6'11. It was clear when Petrie asked Greene to focus on defense during the summer league.

If Greene cannot develop into that product, Tyreke Evans would just pick up the slack and hope that team defense will hold.

I agree. and I think this lineup is better to start the season with Cousins taking over the starting C position by year's end.

There is a chance that Carl Landry will start but Samuel Dalembert? I don't think so. If Dalembert can return to his 05 form of shot-blocking, man to man paint defense and defensive rebounding maybe but I doubt it. I'd rather have Jason Thompson starting as Thompson is agile and nimble and was effective on Paul Westphal's Forward-Dive and High-Pick-and-Roll offensive sets late last season.

Last season on the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers Regular Season Matchups, the Kings lost with an average of 10.0 Points-Differential. But there is more to meet the eye on those losses.

(1) We gave the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers a hard time and very nervous moments come the 4th quarter where the Lakers were just leading by four but under pressure, the young players succumbed and it became a penalty shootout game.

(2) Our offensive sets gave the so called Lakers-Length of their front-court trouble where spacing the floor and utilizing the mobility of Jason Thompson, Donte Greene, Omri Casspi and even Carl Landry to offset Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol's strenghts of primarily consisting of clogging the paint and double teams inside that leads to blocks or low percentage against the opposition.

(3)Tyreke Evans was prolific in getting to the rim even at the tight defense of Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest.

This upcoming season, with the Kings building a strong front-court, I can't wait to take it to the Lakers again. I hope opening night gives the Kings the match-up against the Lakers.

Jerry Colangelo said on Tyreke Evans: "You have a severe sprained ankle and we don't want to aggravate it even further. Think 2012, 2014, 2016 then We'll see you later."

Sacramento Kings Assistant Coach and former player Shareef Abdur Rahim will be the personal coach of rookie Demarcus Cousins on footwork and lowpost technique.

I'm satisfied with the current front-court of the Sacramento Kings:

Jason Thompson
Carl Landry
Demarcus Cousins
Hassan Whiteside
Donte Greene
Omri Casspi
Samuel Dalembert*

*Samuel Dalembert 100% am sure will be traded away. His 2005 form is history.

At the moment, the Kings are addressing the guard depth with Tyrese Rice and Sylven Landesberg as potential additions.

The Sacramento Kings still has $17 Million worth of CAP space as the Kings did not spend on the goldrush of what was the summer 2010 free agency.

Good call as we have player contracts to address; meaning: Decision Time next season as the Team Options for the following are to be exercised on next summer:

Tyreke Evans
Omri Casspi
Donte Greene
Jason Thompson

Plus the expiring contract of Carl Landry where I believe it is best to re-sign him to a long term contract.

Samuel Dalembert's expiring contract worth $12 Million is expected to be shopped around for teams looking to clear some space on the books in which we get another piece in return.

Wait for another year, and maybe Sacramento Kings will follow into the footsteps of OKC.

I see Cousins vs Wall vs Griffin for ROY, however Griffin will win.
Evans MVP - - - for Rook and Soph game.. :D

and around 20-25 wins for Sacramento.

but come next season(after this one), Sacramento will be thinking Playoffs.

Dalembert was obviously brought in to start. it would be really stupid to give the starting job to an unproved rookie who didn't even play more than 20 something minutes in college and almost disappeared by the end of the summer league.
remember when everybody was saying how Michale Beasley was going to take over the league without having even played a single game;), and how'd that work out! the point of having a vet on the team, is to motivate the rookies to play hard every night 'cause they know if they don't do so, they'll lose some minutes to the most experienced player.

according to ESPN
this is going to be Sacramento's Starting lineup for next season:
PG-Tyreke Evans
SG-Francisco Garcia
sf-Omri Casspi
PF-Carl Landry
C-Samuel Dalembert

Sure Samuel Dalembert could start for a few games if upon coach's decision but remember that the Sacramento Kings have placed a premium Demarcus Cousins' development into a potential franchise player. One can accomplish this by fielding rookies with the most upside like Demarcus Cousins on which Cousins' upside is considerably better than what Mike Beasley had been quoted. If the Kings were a championship team, by all means field the veteran for wins ASAP. But the Kings are rebuilding and no less, they would want Demarcus Cousins to develop more by playing quality minutes and measure progress by so we say starting and logic dictates that.

Still Samuel Dalembert is an expiring contract and thus a trade commodity for better CAP flexibility. So Dalembert may not be in for long term as there is this Hassan Whiteside project too.

Tyrese Rice formerly Boston College and played for the Sacramento Kings Summer League team has been invited to the Sacramento Kings training camp.

Good one. :) That solves the so-called "Guard-Trouble" as our front court is 1 man extra from the prescription.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Sylven Landesberg to be invited too.

What a moron.

Post another one on the Tyreke Evans with Dude Perfect thread.

Somewhat old news, that happened 2 months ago as Tyreke Evans has pleaded No Contest before the CA Court and is sentenced to 180 hours of Community Service and 6 months probation.

I swear, people don't read news articles anymore, only youtube or other video leaks.

I'm not condoning the Traffic Violation but we at Sacramento Kings call that incident:

Rekes of Hazard and Need For Speed: Rekeing Havoc

The Sacramento Kings have hired Otis Hughley as an Assistant Coach and formerly of LeFlore HS. Hughley was Demarcus Cousins' high school coach.

Can't wait for the Sacramento Kings 2010-2011 Schedule to be made available and released online by the NBA on August 10, 2010.
