Tanjevic was sharing his salary with Turgay Demirel.. That was the only reason he become NT Coach

SHAME ON YOU!!!

No need to be a jerk, and make accusations to a highly respected and accomplished basketball man.
A bit of respect is in order I think. Especially when the guy gave your national team the biggest accomplishment in its history.

ahahah Nice ideology, just because we played final with him once in a tournament that takes place in Turkey and we had one of most talented team, lets let him be the coach forever :D Tanjevic was nothing even in that tournament, he wasnt even calling timeouts when things dont go well, cant motive players he was like a zombie on the bench,

So...when we get eliminated in the first round, it is Tanjevic's fault.
When we get to the final though, it is despite Tanjevic.

Yeah Right!!!

Ha ha :) I know because I was witness of the corruption. Otherwise no one puts a Zombie as NT team coach. He is the worst coach I have ever seen.

The team couldnt even give its %100 because they had no coach, its like we were playing our %80, yea sometimes you can be succesful even to ur bad coach and sometimes you cant even advance from group stage, just look at this years team, less talented than our last teams, but everybody giving their %100 thats a coaching factor, Ataman knows how to use and motive the players

Let me quote myself from 08-18-2014, 03:05 AM, post on the thread of Turkish NT:
"Turkey played an OK game tonight against Serbia. Serbia did miss 10 free throws in the last quarter, of course there was a lot of mistakes on both sides, Bogdanovic practically won the match in the 4th, but I think you should be pretty satisfied with how this team is turning out to be."

Undeservedly lucky with Finland, double lucky with Preldzic hero ball here. Now gotta say you even stand a chance against Lithuania, too bad, there is gonna be repeat old-fashioned ass-whipping in semis by USA. Thought Australia would have given more interesting plays against USA.
Where do you see luck here? Emir missed quite a few open shots in the game. Stats DO catch up.
And he buried two decent threes in the last minute.

You are forgetting something though.
NZ in the first game, FIN in the group, and AUS tonight...all had double digit leads late in the game.
TUR prevails, because they are persistent and they try to execute. They do not fall out of games (even in the US game we were in it until Q4)
Perseverence is important, and the threes fall in only for the teams that persevere.

Anyway I will not say we are a wonderful or even great team. We are a mediocre plus / good team with a lot of heart and energy.

LIT game will be quite a battle!

Turkey performed perfectly under pressure when it mattered most in all 3 comebacks, players put their characters in it. Let alone this deserves high praise.
Sports is all about what you do in critical situations, that makes the difference.

Really impressed with the mental toughness of the Turkish team.

Exactly, just like Greece successfuly did for so many years! Average offense but slow, half-court, scientific-like basketball with crafty players able to hang in there and show composure in the money time... I think it will be more or less 50-50 against Lithuania.

I also think you create your luck yourself. Today, those shots may not have been in, but the team managed to stay in a position to create those "lucky" shots... they did not just come out of nowhere, and that's why I think the win was well-deserved. Congrats again to the guys.

Kerem Gonlum's post-game interview was pretty honest.
"it was a really strange game. we played very bad actually, but we put our character on court and finally with Emir's lucky shot, we won the game. but you know, the percentages of our team was not good, but we tried to do our best on court with my teammates, and I congratulate all of them."

Ataman:
"it was a tie-game until the 3rd quarter. We didn't shoot well, we didn't play well in offense, our best scorer Preldzic did not find any points in first half, with Asik we found only 4 points. But we found extra baskets with penetrations from Guler. We had talked about this before the game that they did not have a shot-blocker inside, and Guler did very well. We missed a lot of shots on pick & roll, especially with Arslan in the beginning, because every time they went under the pick in our play. But the difference was still 1-point. In the second half we continued to play bad offensively, we couldn't find the way for our regular offense. Australia with Baynes inside and with extra production from their guard, Delladova, who we did not expect to score 13 points, led the game. However, as Kerem said, our character in this world cup is that we don't give up. all the time we believe we can do something until the last second, until the last ball. and I think we did good defense in last 5 mins after being down by 10 points, we did not let them find easy baskets inside. and offensively we found Preldzic in the alst 2-3 minutes, he made incredible shots. The last shot for us was lucky. Sorry for Australia, today I think they played better than us. Basketball is like this, only once in 1st half we were in the lad, and only in the last seconds we got the lead again and won the game."

I did'n watch the game and just read few post about late recovery from turkey...

maybe Aus lost it on purpose to avoid USA in semis?

:-P

Great defence effort by Turkey. But in offence they still dont know how to score. For example, tonight I dont know how many times Asik touch the ball? No balance for inside and outside. But thanks to their hard defence, they made their comeback again. By the way, ref trio is far the worst in the tournement, has nothing to do with each other and some calls really killed the Turkey.

If you didn't believe in karma before this game, you sure as hell have to now. I mean, a player who used to play for Slovenia, who got his basketball start and most of his bball knowledge in Slovenia, was the player who sent Australia home, with a last second shot. Karma herself hit that shot LMAO.

For a better Turkey, votes for Emir Preldzic
