It was to be expected that the last shot will come from a perimeter oriented play, surely Kalnietis could have done it better, however those last plays somewhat rarely get decided by a post play and that's for a good reason. Forcing the ball inside for the whole game it's hard to suddenly turn that around within the last minute, at least not to be taken for granted.

The point is, judging by the shot chart 46 of Lithuania's 74 points were made inside the paint, 19 from free throws and only 9 outside of the paint, to make it worse 4 of those by Valanciunas. That's inexcusable even if Belgium repeatedly insisted on defending down low with little help, to prevent inside-out passes. I don't remember a game such as this in a while.

Considering a three-tie would be likely, yesterdays win against Latvia secured the first place for Lithuania in case something extraordinary doesn't happen in their game vs. Czech republic which is hard to evaluate as they haven't yet played against any of the top3 teams of the group. They might be capable of beating Lithuania, however need to see more before believing it.

Congratulations once again to Belgians, with all those performances they've had so far including the friendlies they deserved to make an upset. They have been constant for 90% of the time, those 10% carried away their game against Latvia (as I said back than, not the best draw for them), while overall even if they've got some noticable quality on their roster are one of the teams that managed to squeeze the most out of it, game wise.

While Lojeski gets mentioned a lot, Van Rossom is the difference maker on court in my opinion, with him their game just makes a lot of sense.

Not quite. If BEL wins all its games and LAT loses one or more of its games, then you would be tied with BEL at the top with 4-1 and BEL would win the group.

There are a lot of different calculations, but realisticlly Latvia can lose against Czech republic, Belgium will have two more hard games, it can happen that calculation will be between us Belgium and Czech rep. Thats interesting :)

I forgot about this one... Latvia - Czech will b the game to watch today. So far Czech have been doing well, however against inferior competition. Vesely, Schilb, Satoransky, Jelinek, Welsch, Benda, Pumprla aren't exactly some weak individuals either.

Agreed on Van Rossom. By contrast, Tabu's decision-making is very suspect.

It's true. CZE could get first place in the group if they win 2 of their remaining games.

The tip in was late!!! How the hell refferees could've missed that??? Of course, we played like shit, but justice is justice. We should protest it.

The tip in was late and probably shouldnt have been counted, but you know what - we deserved to loose today. Belgium played better while our offense like always is extremely static and easy to read. Kalnietis is an idiot but he wasnt the only one to blame.

yup.. sadly - tip was too late and was counted in.
a shame, a bit.

Just listen to yourself - you're talking nonsense. Yes - we looked like dirty old rubbish tonight, but did we deserve to lose? Hell to the naw, we deserve to play overtime! After that - if Belgium have more points - we deserve to lose, fair and square.

so, it seems even in a such crappy group we have problems... Respect for Belgium, i hope it will be a good lesson for us. Last two minutes and kalnietis shot were like a horror film. On kleiza times this shit wouldn't happen, we need him a lot

Question: how many referees need to watch replays tons of minutes and to make a wrong decision?
Answer - three.

When we play bad and loose. It's OK. But when we play bad, but loose because of what happened, then it's bad. The only way to go through it - to take the 1st place in the group. And to improve the game of course. Everything is more complicated than looked before the tournament.

When I was watching the replay on TV my first thought was that it was after the clock, I was almost 100% sure we're gonna over time. And now when you look at a replay at 0.25 speed you can see that he touched it exactly in the moment when the clock hit 0.0, so it shouldn't have counted. I think it was a matter of a millisecond, but still very visible when watching it in slow-mo.

Latvia has +7 against Czech in the 2nd q.

That wasnt regular basket for sure, but anyway Kalnietis made terrible decision, he shouldnt shoot so early...

Seems like Lithuania will contact FIBA because of this mistake. They trusted referees but after rewatching that episode themselves they are sure referees have made a mistake. So am I.
