After the unimpressive first game action, Lithuania managed to reflect its power against Latvia in second game. Now, they are more confident and want to get this one too. Also, Belgium has showed they aim top places in group. Lithuania wants to secure the first spot in group by getting a win over here.

Lithuania still needs time to work on their new team system, the previous two wins were gotten on skill level alone. They have to capitalize on a fairly easy group schedule to practice the system and get better to face more difficult opponents later on, since as of now they aren't anywhere near the point where they are shooting on full cylinders. That being said, Belgium isn't an easy opponent either.

all this talk about "naturalized" or legit players of other countries is getting really tedious by now. I don't feel like beating a dead horse here, but mods should really take all these discussions into OT thread and merge them all here, or simply delete these hateful and childish messages in order not to provoke flame wars. Do we wanna discuss basketball here, or the skin colour and ethnicity of people? Make your own choice here...

I just moved them into the proper thread, as you're completely right there. Can't do more than keep preaching the same IBN forum guidelines some people care little for. I'm actualy fascinated some people feel worth discussing this very same topic over and over again.

Lithuania vs. Belgium might be a game with 2 best performing NT's this far - haven't yet made up my mind about Czechs. Both are playing relatively simmilar basketball, Lithuania is a favourite, however underestimation of Belgium isn't the way to go here. They might not have the tradition, but they're playing basketball exactly to my taste and only lack some player with some great inside presence to in my opinion make a big splash on this tournament.

Again another important game for Lithuania, what is worth to notice, that the next game Latvia vs Czechs could decide an easier life for Lithuania in case both Lithuania and Latvia win (im sure that otherwise the final days battle Lithuania-Czech rep wuold be a battle for the 1st place and who knows what can happen then). Go Lietuva!

I really like to watch Kalnietis playing. At 28, it seems he's reaching his peak with great finishes at the rim, good ball movement as PG and some intense backcourt defense.

Belgium collapsed. Sabonis killing them inside, without any help and in the offense they've turned into an 1 on 1 exhibition. That's not their game.

LTU looks really good today. They are getting better and better in this tournament, as they always do. They will be very competitive in the knockout stages.

Some help inside with Valanciunas, some pressure on the perimeter and even with some 1 on 1 inputs, some more bball circulation and Belgium is back again.

Lithuania is just too good in side to simply defend them individualy, if Belgium won't keep on finding new, better solutions, they've got no chances there.
Zone defense would be such an attempt.

That was an epic flop by that bald little guy. Flop level: Rudy Fernandez

Great comeback by Belgium, after that 2-digit lead for LTU didn't expect them to get back so fast.

Belgium lacks experience at this level. Those low passes into the crowded paint to their C/PF show that...
Lojeski pulled the wagon in the 3rd, that's not that selfobvious for the 4th as well, they'll need to turn to some other solutions instead. As I keep preaching with a team bbal they have a good shot at this game, 1 on 1 they're nothing special in particular and will lose. (edit: last two offenses showed exactly that again)

Lithuanian offense is to inside game reliant, I'm missing some succesfull perimeter oriented plays

Valanciunas comes back into the game and poor belgians have no chance again...:D If only they have had any decent big to go with their quality backcourt

Valanciunas showing his class. Sabonis - one of the most exciting young players in the tournament.
