The Russians miss some quality players and can find themselves in Israeli hard action. Good game, hard to predict.

I think Russia has the edge here, especialy with their bench. As much as I'd love to see Israel making it deep into the tournament after all those years again, they haven't really been playing above their individual quality level, sometimes I got a feeling they even underperformed given the players they had.

Well, yeah Israel can be counted as underrated. As individual talent wise, they can cope with Russians but what I have seen from preparation games, they are weak in painted area. However at least they managed to find their team leader Casspi. He has been playing good and if they create a good cohesion, I don't think they are a bad team.

Let's go Israel, I expect to see the progression in the preparation games translated into positive spirit and good team and individual performances, I hope that a possible win in the first game will be a preamble to more wins in the rest of the week, now after Mekel was signed by the red star of Belgrade his mind should only be in this tournament, there will be no excuses for a lack of concentration and bad execution of plays, I reckon that Gal will be able to make the difference.
In the previous Eurobasket Casspi was really bad, but in this Eurobasket Casspi comes with a different mindset and attitude after having a very decent season for the Sacramento Kings and particularly a great last month of the season in the NBA, he is now the national team captain and leader, I believe he will be able to rise and set the tone.
I also sincerely hope that Shawn Dawson will be our spark off the bench, the guy has an unbelievable talent, he might be an NBA ready player by the end of this season, I hope he will be able to display his capabilities.

I am pretty positive thus far, let's go get it.

I must say I feel completely different. Erez didn't have enough time with the team, and we looked very bad at most of the preparation games.
We never had size in the paint, but this time we also looked like a team that didn't know what to do on defence. Our complete lack of outside threat hurt us very much.

I do think that we had a good coach, but a lot of things must go our way in order to finish 4th at the group.
First and most important thing is to defend and run, it was the bread of butter of our national team since I remember myself.

I do agree that this game is the make or break of the tournament, it will have a significant influence on our moral, and the relatively weak Russian roster make her a direct competitor for next round.

Israel looked and is continuing to look extremely dissapointing.
things are simply not clicking in their game.
Russians on the other side look pretty solid, I guess we all have crossed them out bit too early. even before the tournament started.

I don't think Russian team is very impressive.
Israel played very very bad. If you look at the stats line you may think that Russia had some incredible shots from behind the arch, but many of their 8 shots behind the arch were completely unguarded.

Israel had very short periods of good defence, and Russia looked hopeless at those attacks (Only offensive rebound kept them rolling).

I do think that the Russian team is well coached and try to play smart but it looks like they have a similar issue to Israel, not enough talent in a good enough shape

A very important victory for us
It was one of those games that decide how your tournament looks, both teams were weak and winning games like these can give a big boost for the team moral, I'm glad we won this one, maybe we'll finally make it through the first round after some consecutive failures.
Casspi just took over when Israel needed him, it's a good sign.
the breakdown in the end worries me, we're non-consistent and if we don't change that soon we won't get far, luckily Russia seems to be an even less consistent team than we are.
As for Eliyahu, you got it right Integral. It was always his problem, he's got an amazing talent offensively but he is a sissy, not aggressive enough and a bad rebounder for his height and athleticism level.
Our lack of shooters is gonna hurt us, the absence of Pnini and Halperin is easily felt, I hope that at the very least Dagan will wake up soon and bury his threes.

And after all the thing that matters most and makes me more optimistic than anything else is that I felt a spark of that good old fighting spirit that's been missing for so long, I hope it's not an illusion.

casspi, usual israeli spirit and....usual ridiculous ohayon
the fact this guy plays at those levels and el , is one of greatest sport's miracle of history
