15-year old Ricky Rubio posted 24 points, 11 rebound, 10 assists and 7 steals in just 26 minutes as Spain prevailed againts Russia 91:76 in the Euro U16 Championships.

Spain champion!!!

Spain champion!!!

And finally Spain was the champion!!!
Spain 110-Russia 106

Pay attention:
Ricky Rubio, in the final made
51 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists and 7 steals.

And you can see this boy playing Euroleague next season with DKV Joventut

As you can imagine Ricky Rubio leads the tournament in points, rebounds, assists and steals...

With those numbers I can see him playing in the NBA all star game next winter! :D

Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio

Any info about this player? I've herad that in u-16 final he scored 51 pt, had 24 reb, 12 as and 7 st
Thanx in advance ;)

I simply cannot imagine someone at 1,92cm getting all these figures (24 rebounds???!!!) even at the sub16 level - either he is supergenius, or the defence was absent at all. It seems the rest of the team scored almost the same number of points as he alone... 59 points - almost half of them (24 or so) should have come after his 12 assists!... Why do they need 5 players on court??? :D

I will be afraid of Spain very soon if that is true....

PS it seems we have no Spanish forumers here. Maybe somebody knows their local forum so we could send the link to interbasket.net?

It seems that people in this forum only care about their own "best" teams and their own "best" players

Disappointing, should say...

I first heard about him a few months ago,but I've never seen him.
He is a member of Joventut Badalona's first team, but apparently he doesn't play much..However,Reneses really believes in him and he has stated that Rubio will make Spanish fans forget about Navarro in a few years' time..!
Great expectations from this 16 year old..we'll see!

I heard about him year and a half ago, when he was already dominating in his age group. Here you have some reports about the tournament.

All you must remember that we are talking about a 16 years old boy, which has already played in the ACB with 15 so, for him playing an U16 Championship is an easy job. Few months ago he was playing some minutes in the ACB semifinal's 5th game vs Unicaja in Málaga...

Here you can see the midfield buzzer beater 3pt that made Ricky to tie the final (after the info about the Spain-Germany).

As Manatax have told, there was a thread about Ricky, but it was missed. If I'm not wrong his debut was in octobre'05 when he only was 14 y.o., the month after he was 15, so he was the youngest player in play in the ACB EVER. I have seen him playing 2 or 3 games, and sincerely, he's young, of course, but is a very talented player, and when he's in court he forgets his age, in which league he is playing, and the men who he is playing aganist and with...

Of course is too early, but if he goes on like now we're going to have a very good player.... maybe in china???

He has played in Acb and in Fiba eurocup with 14, with DKV jouvetut, an euroleague team.
He was the youngest player ever to play in acb
He has been the best scorer, rebounder, assists and steals in the u16 world cup, (not forgetting he is a pg).
He was among the 5 best in scoring , assists, a little down in rebounds in the league whith DKV junior team ( with boys of 17-18 and more), before going to the first team.
Last year he was ovacionated in the arena of Estudiates, probably the biggest school of players in Spain.
He is 3rd pg of the team, before all the players of el Prat (one of the EBA teams afiliated to Jouventut)
He won the junior edition of the junior Copa del rey when he was 13, and was named MVP
He has been "discovered" by Aito, an specialist in getting young talents and converting them in huge players.

Lets admit it, this boy looks reaaaaally good, lets hope he will continue with his progression

If this kid doesn't get lost in the way as so many young players do, he'll certainly be one of Europe's top players in a couple of years. I mean, he's outstanding...

Yeah, one game I can see being a fluke, but one just doesn't accumlulate stats like this by accident. Pretty amazing statlines. Youngest player to be in the ACB, sounds like he has a pretty good start to his story.
