I agree with this one. We should have him play on at least one RP Youth team so that we will get the full ownership of this guy as early as possible.

Hopefully, somebody contacts his mom or dad now.

I second the motion. Hehehe! mabuti na sigurado... he might become a hot prospect in US... :D

Gryphons too much for Rebels
ST. George's 82, TRA 50
By David Healy (Contact)
Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Tipton-Rosemark Academy boys basketball coach Dan Martin came out on Tuesday night fired up. With every good play, he applauded. When things went wrong, he groaned.

Martin was even whistled for a technical foul in the first quarter after disputing a call.

But as the game wore on, Martin gradually settled down as it became evident that his team was no match for visiting St. George's as the Gryphons coasted to an 82-50 victory.

"I thought we were ready to play but they are a great team with a lot of great players," Martin said. "But we will be ready next time."

In a match-up of two teams still undefeated in Division 2 Small, the Gryphons (11-0, 8-0) showed why they are considered by most as the class of the division as they jumped out to an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way.

While the game turned into a runaway, senior Duke signee Elliot Williams put on a show in the second half. Plagued by foul trouble, Williams was held to just six points in the first two quarters, but he came out in the third quarter and cooly and calmly drained four consecutive 3-pointers before he was taken out for the rest of the game with an 20-point total.

"I think he played a little tentative in the first half, but once the game got going and it was time to make some plays offensively, he stepped up," St. George's coach Jeff Ruffin said. "He has the ability to take his game to another level.

TRA's big gun, Bolton transfer Jacob Arnett, did his best to keep the Rebels (11-4, 5-1) in the game as he finished with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, but Ruffin said he was pleased that his players did their best to make most of Arnett's points difficult. With seconds left in the first quarter, Arnett even made a 3-pointer from 5 feet behind the arc to lift his team's hopes.

"He's a great player and a great shooter and you have to do a lot to guard him," Ruffin said. "I thought we did about as good as we could do."

The Gryphons' other standout, Missouri signee Laurence Bowers, also demonstrated his size and talent on Tuesday as he finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. St. George's junior Allen Bobango also contributed 10 points while senior Ben Popeck scored 11.

"They had a great crowd here tonight, and I know they were ready to play, but we came out tonight and responded," Ruffin said.

Gryphons rally for narrow win
St. George's 58, CBHS 57
By Chris Van Tuyl (Contact)
Friday, January 11, 2008

It could've all come unraveled for St. George's on Thursday night.

Play was stopped at the 6:36 mark of the third quarter and Duke signee Elliot Williams was carried off the court after injuring his right knee.

St. George's Laurence Bowers, who scored the winning basket on Thursday night, dunks against Christian Brothers during the second quarter of the Gryphons' 58-57 victory.

To make matters worse, the Gryphons were trailing visiting Christian Brothers by 13 points.

When it was all said and done, though, St. George's stayed undefeated with a 58-57 victory.

The winning basket came courtesy of Missouri signee Laurence Bowers, who got the rebound and tip-in of a missed Ray Parks free throw in the closing seconds.

"Whether (Parks) made it or not, I was going to fight for that rebound," Bowers said. "At the time, I didn't want him to miss, but when he missed it, I knew I had to go get that ball."

The Gryphons (12-0) still had to defend the last shot, and they did so playing man-to-man. The last player to touch it for CBHS was Brad Luckett, who was off the mark with his baseline 3-point shot at the buzzer.

"I thought our defense progressively got better," St. George's coach Jeff Ruffin said. "It wasn't very good early in the game. They have great 3-point shooters and we did a poor job of getting out, closing out hard and making them put it on the floor."

The Purple Wave (17-4) led 37-28 at the break, knocking down seven 3-pointers in the opening half. Their hottest weapon was Martin Mitchell, who finished with 21 points, including a buzzer-beating jumper at the end of the third.

Williams, meanwhile, returned to the St. George's bench under his own power with less than two minutes remaining in the period. The trainer taped an ice bag to his knee and he watched the conclusion. He scored 20 first-half points.

"I'm OK. I'm going to see the doctor (today)," he said. "I'm just proud of the team pulling that one through. When I went out, I had total faith."

Said Ruffin: "Luckily, thankfully, I'm told by the trainer that he'll be back in the next few days, so that's a good thing."

Williams' return was never in question, according to Ruffin.

"Long range is much more important than one ball game," he said. "I thought the other guys stepped up and did what they needed to do."

That included Ben Popeck, who went scoreless but came up with a steal in the final minute. After Allen Bobango missed a 3-point try, Parks was fouled with 25.6 seconds left.

The freshman made the first free throw. The second one bounced off the rim to Bowers, who concluded his evening with 17 points and seven blocks.

"I know that I'm a big defensive presence on the team," he said, "so I try not to leave the goal too much, because if they drive, I'm a great shot-blocker. With the game on the line, I had to step up, especially with Elliot out.

"I was nervous (after the Williams injury), but I knew that we could still do it. (CBHS) has a great team. It's hard to defend them when all of them can shoot."

Looks like RParks is the 3rd scorer in the team and with Williams out on a probable injury he was with the ball during the dying seconds. Though rimmed the last FT, the 1st one made all the difference.

We are looking at DWade-like in this kid...hope he will also develop Kobe like defense as well as shooting prowess...

And he still a FRESHMAN!

with the way he's playing and most likely he's going to do better in the next 3-4 years. do you think he will become a highly touted recruit going to college? will the top basketball programs such as duke, north carolina, kansas, UCLA or georgetown will go after him?

Soory Bro, I cannot made an assesment about his future because I'm just an ordinary fans and poster like you guys. My sources are only internet. I just post all news about him.

You can asked(email) this guy --->>> jcw@johnchristianwilliams.com

Actually, Ray is reportedly committed to Memphis Sate University where his father from and is an M Club Hall of Fame. (let's jus see which school really is for him). He's still a Freshman. A 14 (Nealry 15 year old). Let's hope he'll be more than OJ Mayo, the team mate of Ryan Wetherell. He will probably be a starting guard soon.
