without teodosic it is impossible to win spain..

No way though they were broken. The pain would be too much for him to play like he did today.Maybe a minor fracture in the metacarpials or smth.

Of course his fingers are not broken yes he's hand is hurting he's having that bondage from the start of training camp. Its just something for journalists to write about, sensationalism ;)

Please no posts, if Serbia plays like today. Today we had a game against our not loved neighbours with a lot of tension. Krstic said it today after the game that today was not a normal game, it was a special one. Croatian player Marko Popovic said, that Serbia deserved to go to the Quarterfinal, because they showed more throught the tournament. This is pure truth.

The other thing is that Serbia played 3 hard games against good teams in a row and had to travel to Istanbul. Serbia had no training in the new arena. They trained in Abdi Pecki. All this is after us now. Perhaps this all was a handicap for the game today, but from now on we are in a better position.

It will be a hard and tight game. Serbia should have advantages under the rim. Spain is better in the backcourt, but for me they looked better in the last years.

Spain is the favo, but it will be no wonder, if they will miss the 1st 1/2 final after 2004. They are ready to fall and Serbian can do it.

EC Serbia 2005: 4th place
WC Japan 2006: 1st place
EC Spain 2007: 2nd place
OG Bejing 2008: 2nd place
EC Poland 2009: 1st place
WC Turkey 2010: ??????

Game against Spain will be different kind of game. We will play better. We will go more motivated to win this match because Spain are world and euro champs.

Anyway... the keys:
for Serbia - in defense: we should try to stop quick Spanish guards running coast to coast, to put Navaro, Rudy and Rubio together under or about 40-45 points in total. Offensively we should put down ball at center and try to use our clear height advantage

for Spain - to make as many breaks as they can, speed up the game, use their guard and forwards potential to score from distance in traffic, in defense cutting down Teodosic and preventing him to make serious role(assisting his teammates and scoring more then 15 points).

Well, I don't know what result will be but from my angle chances are 50-50, but only in case if we perform much better then like we did today

The games between rivals have different atmosphere. I don't think the matches like Serbia - Croatia, Brazil - Argentina etc. can be a measure for those teams. Serbia is a great basketball country and I don't think Spain can win this easily.

The match will be the best match of all I think. I don't know which one to support, however, we are a good customer of Serbia and I don't want them in the semis against us if me make it there. Spain is gearing up lately, I see them favourite for this match. However, it'll not be an easy game for both side. I'll just sit back and enjoy :p

I voted for Spain, because we don't have anyone in this team who can play as good as Rudy Fernandez,I think that he is nearly unstoppable, and if Navaro plays like today against Greece,we will lose.At least two players, besides Krstic, would have to explode for us to be able to win against Spain, maybe Teodosic and Velickovic...

There's nothing wrong with Teodosić's fingers, it's just Duda making excuses for him to relieve the pressure on him. It's like when he was saying that Krstić dropped the chair by accident.

Both teams are gold medal contenders

Serbia qualified with Teodosic being either severely injured or simply in a very bad night and with Croatia showing heart, at last

Spain is improving game by game, it is now obvious. They deserved the win against the best Greek performance of this tournament and proved they can match the 12-deep roster of the Serbian squad

Interesting match. Let's assume that the whole situation is questionable, since Teodosic is not definitely injured and wait

So far, I won't vote

Paunic defense on Navarro or Rudy will be key for us. He did such a great job on Prigioni and Ukic in the last two games. The guy is so underrated on our squad it very sad:(

I voted for Serbia, but since the opponent is strong it will be difficult match... I'm not sure... but I wish Serbia wins this eight finals.

Yeah,Paunic is great defensively,I think that he is the fastest player in our squad, but he didn't have good season,I hope that he can rise his offensive side of play,he would be great then

we have better frontcourt, they have better backcourt...
rudy will be unstoppable for us.
spain are world and european champion and olympic vice champion, and much more experienced team then serbia.
this tournament is just second big competition for this serbian generation(average team age is 23).
so there is no doubt that spain is favorite, but we will fight, and let the better(serbia) win.:p

I agree, if there is an injury then it's surely not as bad as broken fingers would be. Ivković is just messing up with everyone and is trying to lift Teodosić after his bad performance against our team.
As for the game itself, Serbia still didn't play it's best game on this tournament. But even if they do that IMO it still won't be enough to beat Spain. Everywhere you look Spain is tougher, deeper, stronger, more expirienced and simply a better team then this serbian team at the moment.
Serbians are building their optimism on the fact they beat spanish team last year when they were also without Pau Gasol as on this tournament. And that is also true, but it is also true that they demolished Serbia in the final with a great game from Pau who played only 20 minutes. Spanish team simply didn't needed him more then that. It is also undeniable fact that Spain is playing their second tournament where they have a slow start in the tournament but as tournament progresses they are getting stronger and stronger and are building up their confidence for the later stages of the tournament. They surely did that yesterday against Greek team where greeks played their best game of the tournament and still it wasn't nearly enough to beat Spain. Scarolo for the first time on this tournament used his bench properly, except for the problems in the third quarter where greeks shoot some threes with ease Spain was pretty much in control of the whole game.
And they did that almost without any help from their first option at center position, Marc Gasol. Serbians depend too much on Krstić, especially when Veličković is having a subpar game like yesterday and when their guards are closed down more or less. Then it is all about giving the ball down low to Krstić and waiting on what he will do or if he will kick the ball out again. When he faced Tomić he had no problems scoring but Vranković rotated both Lončar and Banić as well as Tomić and that got Krstić tired, imagine how he will play against physiclly much stronger Gasol or Vasquez. Sure it will open some space for serbian guards but all in all Spain is a big favorite to take this one. I just can't see serbian defence closing down all spanish threats and at the same time having a good offensive game.

duda is a better coach than scariolo..i suppose this is the key of the match

I think the clue of the game will be REBOUND. Serbia players are really tall, and Spain allow lot of offensive rebounds.
We will need Felipe in the court 25+, but Felipe has back problems (ouch)
Other clue is that Spain's confidence is increasing after Greece game, and confidence is one of the most important factors in the Spanish team. When they play with confidence, they can score in great number of ways.
I think this game will be as hard as 1/8 ... with the same result for Spanish Team!!!

He is also a professor of basketball for Vranković but still Serbia needed last second free throw to win the game. How do you comment that?
