You realize that the next Eurobasket is in 2021. So it's once every four years from now on. Starting next year. And I don't see how a Eurobasket can mean nothing. It is arguably tougher the the World Cup and as tough as the Olympics.

but that's the thing though - we don't really have a choice but to play zone defense. All of our guards are mediocre to horrible on defense and they can't stop anybody 1 on 1 whatsoever. That's why our bigs have to help all the time and cracks in our zone defense are so easy to exploit for any competent team

Not to the fans,but for the players means less motivation if a good tournament does not guarantee you an Olympic berth.Especially now with the expansion of EL games,a lost of veterans could find the chance to rest.Not even mentioning the NBA prospects who would pass it like a salt.FIBA fucked us up,this time.

I thought that Sabonis' defense was already elite and JV has eclipsed Sabonis Sr. :D :D :D

Joking aside. You cannot play the same defense all game, you have to adjust sometimes. But tempting your fate 3 games in a row with a same defensive gameplan is just bad. Plain bad. All my love to Kalnietis and Jankunas who showed up for this tournament. The others never came off the plane...

You were not convincing or played well in none of the 6 games in the tournament.

there is only so much that bigs can do on defense really, unless they are prime Garnett or Ben Wallace out there. Everyone knows JV is bad at rotating back to his man after helping on the perimeter, so that should be no news to our head coach as well yet JV still spent majority of the time chasing the other teams' guards on the court:rolleyes: That's simply a bad coaching and lack of adjusting and I completely agree with you here. Also everyone was late on their rotations, not only your "beloved" JV or Sabonis. All of our opponents were quicker, smarter and more determined than we were. I don't really have an answer if it's physical or mental issue or most likely all of them combined...

When you put it this way ,then yes .
But we started tournament with brilliant 2 quarters . Surely you are not gonna take that away from us ?

I agree. You did have a fantastic first half against Brazil. :D

I am a bit sad, was hoping for a Semis rematch with Lith. Now this will have to wait for Eurobasket 2017.

Not really. I take this do or die games very easy always. We are playing a team we should beat and they have never beaten us in any competition since the breakup of Yugoslavia. They have so many holes that we can exploit and should be easy to game plan them. If we despite all that fail, then we don't deserve any better. I will not fret so much for people who don't give their best effort and lose to teams they should beat with a margin.

I will save that for the Semis vs AUS, where I truly have no idea what will happen. If we play our 100% we are a better team, even if they are at their 100%. Still we have been known to show up slacking, especially if we manhandle Croatia or something like that. The only good thing is that Djordjevic holds grudges, so I am sure he will be really fired up for that rematch.

Last year,when we played Italy in QF ,midway through the game I just could not handle the game anymore . I got so stressed that i thought i am gonna have a stroke or something . I felt extremely anxious the previous game vs Georgia and stopped watching the game for about 5 minutes. .This time I just left the house and went for a long walk ,came back only to find out the game was not finished .
Anyways ...I do not believe a word you say here regarding how confident you are )

Somebody on reddit did a math . No way they would be using number that by a large margin .
Most likely they are just being stolen or ,you know ,people take them just "in case" by tens or hundreds.

I firmly believe the addition of Tristan Thompson last second to the Canadian team at the qualifier hurt them more than it helped (no practice, no warm up games, joined them in Manila). They were playing better in the friendly warm-ups with Khem Birch in that role. Not like Tristan Thompson is a "star player" even though he tried pretend he was during the qualifier games. A 60% plus FG% NBA player shooting in the low 40% range taking shots he would never do in the NBA,
