Qatar NT's Tanguy Ngombo to NBA?

I think Ngombo has a chance to make a roster if he improves his defense. His offensive talents are solid he can shoot he can penetrate and finish, and I think it bodes well for an offensively talented league. Now his defense has got to improve, as most foreigners do. The size and speed of these players in the NBA is not seen elsewhere....but if he knocks down shots and grabs a few rebounds like how he has dominated the Asian scene the past 2 years and works hard, he can get there.

man you're really amusing hahaha lol @ dominated i'm gonna piss on my paints from laughing :D
he's just a regular offensive player no 'Special' great skills fella

Take note that Ngombo is registered as a citizen from Congo, not Qatar, in the draft and eventually the NBA. He's making Africa proud, not Asia.

loool who cares ? he doesn't belong there that's for sure.

i'm really concerned about the NBA managements and scouts....

it's supposed to be the best place for players...by this jock they certainly aren't anymore.

They already found out that he's lying about his age ;) (maybe you missed the link I posted).... But I do agree that this mistake shouldn't have happened and they should have done much better research before drafting him.

One of the reasons why I lost interest in the NBA and became an international basketball fanatic.

Day by day, I'm starting to lose respect for this league.

Adding veteran leadership using the NBA draft, now THAT'S thinking outside the box :D:D

Filipinos and Lebanese that have problems with Ngombo's Qatari citizenship are comical since Douthit is not Filipino at all and neither is Jackson Vroman or Cheick Samb (they want to naturalize him).

well if you look at Qatar's national team, i think half of their roster are naturalized citizens which clearly violates Fiba's rules. Qatar is notorious for that, even in football they have been known for buying the best players who are not yet capped by other nations and territories.

you're even funnier dude at least we don't neglect or deny our naturalized players which by FIBA's rule is completely legal (and that's if you know the rules).

which Qatari player is a 1 % Qatarian by DNA ?! you answer that and then let us talk

27 year old nba draftee? lolz :p

the qatar youth team is more like a real qataris unlike the seniors team which is almost all of them are africans? hehe :D

Now here comes even a bigger joke:

Latest on Tanguy Ngombo: Minnesota exec told me he will send a copy of Tanguy's passport yesterday. Still waiting on it.Any new info online

I'm sorry, but not only Givony is getting all the credit for finding this whole fake-qatari-age-cheating-thing...now he is getting a copy of the fake passport as well. OF COURSE THE PASSPORT WILL BE DISPLAYING 1989 AS THE DATE OF BIRTH ON IT, that's why Ngombo was able in the first place to play for Qatar. They allegedly fixed his birthdate back then in 2006 from 1984 (Congolese passport) to 1989 (Qatari passport). So the copy is worthless.
I guess, Minnesota is trying to save their face with this. Philo, you got punk'd...draft Ashton Kutcher instead! :D

now that it is known and got caught they should also see bout his nationality and FiBA should take a look at the nationality of the Qatar basketball players :D

Tanguy Ngombo is a talented player, but his reckless cheating has got to end somewhere.

It's really strange that they didn't give him a Qatari name like their other imported athletes. Would have been very hard to trace in that case.

Equatorial Guinea is about to play in the women's soccer World Cup this week. Any guesses on how many of their players are actually from Brazil? From other countries in West Africa?

Tamud Al-Ngombo <-- my suggestion :D

Tanguy/Targuy Ngombo - The Follow Up

Tanguy/Targuy Ngombo - The Follow Up

As Ngombo (Targuy or Tanguy) continues to make headlines regarding his age I thought I needed to post a follow up to the post I put up a few days ago. I first need to apologize for my delay in doing this, family vacation in Hawaii has just begun and it is hard to juggle writing and beach time.

This post has three parts: some thoughts from people associated with Tanguy, a brief discussion looking a little deeper at the name and date of birth debacle, and a brief rant directed at FIBA.

To start of with I thought that looking deeper at Ngombo's game was still needed, as the game footage of Ngombo is lacking. I felt it would be beneficial to ask people who have played with or coached Tanguy about his strengths, weaknesses, and their general thoughts on him being drafted. I received three good responses.

To play for the under-18 team of Qatar? Lol!! Take note also that BISMACK BIYOMBO the 7th pick of the Bobcats has also an age rumors and before he ended in Spain, Biyombo flied to Qatar to try out for a professional team or maybe the Qatar basketball federation had planned to make him a Qatar citizen and make him younger by 5 years..

The women's Qatar in football:

Brazilians, Nigerians, Burkinabe, Cameroonians, Spaniards and probably men...

Regarding Ngombo: He will be cleared by the NBA, because he sent them a copy of his Qatari passport. Since there is no virtual proof of wrong-doing as there is no other (Congolese) passport around, he will be okayed.
