It'll be not Lithuanian NT, but team composed of some Lihuanian LKL (Lithuanian league) based players (no champ Zalgiris or finalist Rytas players tho) + one player from Latvian VEF Riga and Gailius already signed for Slovenian Union Olimpija. Full list:

Rolandas Alijevas - Šiauliai
Mindaugas Girdžiūnas - Kėdainių Nevėžis
Deividas Gailius - Liublianos Union Olimpija
Martynas Mažeika - Klaipėdos Neptūnas
Vytautas Šarakauskas - Klaipėdos Neptūnas
Simas Galdikas - Klaipėdos Neptūnas
Valdas Vasylius - Klaipėdos Neptūnas
Arminas Urbutis - Prienų Tonybet
Donatas Zavackas - Rygos VEF
Arnas Labuckas - Prienų Tonybet
Arnas Butkevičius - Klaipėdos Neptūnas

Are the Neptūnas players listed the same players who played against the Philippines NT?

Thanks for the update... If we were to compare this team to the U-20 Lithuanian NT that played against Philippines who do you think would be a more competitive team to play against? I can notice that most of the players are from Neptunas who was 4th in the Lithuanian league this year.

Yup, Neptunas were 4th in regular season, but after all won bronze by beating Prienai (or Tonybet now) 3-2 in 3rd place series in play-offs. Regarding competetiveness, this team looks surely stronger than U20. From that U20 team only few players plays in LKL and are far from bein' key players there, while here are the players who mostly plays key roles in their teams. Way more experience, class. IMO this team would beat those U20 youngsters rather easily

I have no clue, couldn't find any info about that. But I guess most of them didn't play as their contracts were over after the season (in mid May) and they were free to leave. Probably some youngsters played

But I think Gilas has beaten this Neptunas team during it's stint in Lithuania about a month ago. As you said the Lithuanian team that Qatar will play in a series of tune-up games are made up of players mostly from Neptunas team and some players from other teams of LKL. So it's some sort of a LKL select team that Qatar will be playing. I think the LKL select team would be stronger than Neptunas, composition-wise. But I think Neptunas is the more cohesive team between the two.

Now, who do you think would be more competitive, the Neptunas team that tuned-up vs. Gilas Philippines or the LKL select team that Qatar would be playing?

I don't know with what roster Neptunas played against your NT, can't find nor roster nor even best scorers, btw it was month ago, but season in Lithuania finished 2 months ago, so my guess it was some 2nd string players/youngsters as Neptunas currently has only couple of players under contract (btw Sarakauskas, who'll play in Qatar is one of them, so maybe he played). But even if Neptunas would be using it's best squad, this team which will play against Qatar is still stronger as it has best Neptunas players + other decent LKL players and Zavackas from VEF, while if Neptunas played with 2nd team, this LKL selected team is few heads above it. It really well balanced, has experienced PG like Alijevas, decent shooters like Gailius, also guys who can hustle in the paint like Urbutis, Vasylius, Zavackas. All of them not only played in LKL, but had stints in Italian, Russian, Greek top leagues. I'm not too familiar with current strenght of Qatari NT, but I'd guess that this LKL team will beat them

thanks for the information mate..

Sir, do you have the results of Qatar's tune-up matches vs. Tunisia & Lithuania? I think the Qataris had a game vs. those teams last July 13 & 15 and I think they also have a game today.

Thanks
13/07 Qatar - Tunisia 64-76
15/07 Qatar - LKL-team 71-85 http://www.basketnews.lt/news-63711-lkl-klubu-rinktine-pranoko-kataro-krepsininkus-foto.html + http://www.basketnews.lt/foto/sarasas-2231-20130716-kataro-rinktine-lkl-rinktine.html

seems Hayes took part at least in 2nd game vs TUN (think rumours about Ngombo as import are false)

Does anyone have any info on Qatar's exhibition games vs. Egypt? They played on the 19th and 21st.

Were the games played against the Egypt team that played in the Jones Cup?

Finally found a quality picture of Hayes in a Qatar jersey. Last time I saw him play was with the Nets as a teammate of Yi Jianlian.

I'm not sure why Qatar opted to go for Hayes when they're already loaded with capable forwards. If they were serious in being contenders, Chauncey Leslie or Targuy Ngombo would have been a better choice as it gives them a player who can play the 1 position more effectively. I'm not saying Mansour El-Hadary is a bad player but I think he's the only player in the team who is a pure PG and his size makes him a liability on defense.

Could it be that they're hoping to have Hayes replace one of their big men who are mostly aging?

Apparently Yasseen Ismail Musa retired from the national team after the Asian Championship, he was the only player I liked in Qatar squad.
