Puerto Rico beat Virgin Islands 85 - 70, Piwi Garcia 13 pts, Alexander Franklin 12 pts, saturday another exhibition game vs Dominican Republic.

I heard that Puerto Rico will have a scrimmage against South Korea in June 23, 26 and 28. Is that confirmed?

June 23rd it will be imposible because it will be the semifinals of Centrobasket.
June 26th dont know about that. Nothing in the news, as far as I know.
June 27 & 28 we have friendly games against FYR Macedonia.

Thanks. South Korea's players are currently in San Juan, PR.

South Korea is schedule to scrimmage against a BSN Select squad, but not the NT. they tried to schedule a game vs PR but it was impossible due to CentroBasket and the Macedonian friendlies.

Puerto Rico will take the 2nd position in the group,to my opinion under Greece.

Thats the normal situation...we will see the next week Tasos!

Puerto Rico can win the game against Greece - I see the chances of the two teams as 50-50. The interesting thing is that the winner of the game gets an easier game in the QF (against Venezuela instead of Lithuania; assuming Lithuania beats Venezuela) but then a harder game in the SF (Russia instead of Dominican Republic or FYROM). Since a loss in the QF means elimination, whereas a loss in the SF does not, I think both Puerto Rico and Greece will play for the win in this game. But, if Venezuela beats Lithuania, we might see some tanking! ;)

My predictions:
Group A:Greece,Puerto Rico
Group B:Lithuania,Venezuela
Group C:Russia,Dominican Republic
Group D:New Zeland,Angola
Quarter-finals:Greece vs Venezuela,Russia vs Angola,Lithuania vs Puerto Rico,New Zeland vs Dominican Republic
Semi-finals:Greece vs Russia,Lithuania vs Dominican Republic
Third place game:Russia vs Dominican Republic
Greece,Lithuania and Russia qualify

Haha wake up.........you are not going to beat Russia in the semifinal either:rolleyes:

Nah, give Macedonia some credit - they're better than New Zealand or Angola.

There is no big difference between Greece and Russia at the moment. Russia was slightly better than Greece last year, but the Greeks were playing with Calathes and Zisis at the guard position. So my bet is that Greece would have beaten them with Spanoulis and a more experienced Sloukas (or Mantzaris). Not to mention the development of Papanikolaou and the adition of Printezis. A big minus is the absence of Koufos, but if Greece qualifies, the young center and Sofo may join the team in London. In which case, Greece will become a major threat to every opponent save for the USA. But I like the fact that Greece is being underestimated.

As for your country. The first big test will be against the Dominican republic. If you'll manage to beat them, which I doubt, you'll have an even harder task in the semi's. Don't worry about New Zealand. McCalebb alone can take them.

True!

The Dominican republic will be our first real test in the qualifiers and we will die if its necessary! IMO Greece will have problems with Puerto Rico too

You underestimate Those Russians who had a 10:1 score win in EB 2011 which by the way only Spain managed to do. They are very consistent

I agree! Since this year we have only our Thessalian-mountain-donkey center Puerto-Rico will start a rock-concert under the greek basket.

Thessaly is a plain.

I also agree that we'll have problems with Puerto Rico, but the key will be Lithuania/Venezuela. I'm not sure the Lithuanians will be able beat the hosts.
