Projected 2010 FIBA World Championship Rosters

I can't believe he made it that far. Seeing him among those other names is almost hilarious.

Everybody knew the was going to be cutted, but Magnano decided to keep him for trainning and preparation games, in case something happened with Nene or Tiago Splitter. He played well against Venezuela and Angola, he has a big body, can get some offensive rebounds. But you right, is almost hilarious.

He actually didnt make it. Magnano told today that Passos is only helping with the practices, since Splitter and Nenê are injuried. According with him, If some of these big men cant play, the most likely situation is call one of South American Tournament bigs (JP, Cipolini, Fiorotto, Rafael Mineiro...).

Heres an interesting question, can Luis Scola dunk?

Ive seen in youtube he could dunk when younger, but in the NBA and with the national team, I havent seen him do it.

Magnano decided to cut Hatila Passos(2,13 C) and now the brazilian roster for the WC is ready. Passos will continue to travel with the brazilian national team to gain experience playing preparation games and, if they need, to replace Nene and Splitter, who are recovering from small muscular injuries, in those games.

Raul Togni Neto - 1,84 PG
Nezinho - 1,85 PG
Marcelinho Huertas - 1,91 PG
Alex Garcia - 1,93 SG
Leandro Barbosa - 1,93 SG
Marcelo Machado - 2,00 SG-SF
Guilherme Giovanonni - 2,04 SF-PF
Marcus Vinícius - 2,07 SF-SG
Murilo Becker - 2,10 PF-C
Anderson Varejão - 2,11 PF
Tiago Splitter - 2,12 PF-C
Nenê - 2,11 C

I like this year's team of Brazil. I think they can get into the quarterfinals and fight for place in semifinals. good luck!

For the Serbian fans, do you guys think Ivkovic will keep all 6 inside players?

I would have a horrible time having to decide to cut one of those players. Savanovic should be the odd man out, but he was great in the only game I saw of Serbia, and he provides extremely interesting offensive solutions for this team. Velickovic and Macvan are building blocks (besides excellent players), and they should have continuity in the NT. Krstic is untouchable, and depth in the center position is important: Perovic can be really useful against the biggest opponents (Gasol or Bouroussis) and Raduljca can be another excellent contributor as well as another piece of the young core.

Also, could this team miss Tripkovic? Perimeter shooting is the biggest weakness for Serbia IMO. Still, I think they are a top-4 favourite.

He had a classic dunk in the 2004 SF, in the last seconds of the game against USA, while receiving a flagrant foul from a frustated Stephen Marbury...

What about Nene?;)

I forgot about Nene. He and Gasol are the two best centers in this tournament IMO. 1a and 1b. I really like both of their games. I've seen Bourossis a number of times and have only seen Splitter play about twice. Not that impressed with Bourossis.

Splitter>Gasol. Sorry ;)
And Scola is somewhat a Center in the NT, so Nene, Scola & Splitter are my three choices for best Centers in the tournament.

There are also a few others that worth mentioning like Gasol, Asik, Bourousis, Tomic...

LOL:D:D:D:D:D:D
what on earth are you two talking about??? Is it Mark you are talking for? My god people, he is good but not great....NOT EVEN TOP 10 in this tournament!!!!

Have you guys seen him in the last year? He lost a bunch of weight and didn't lose any agility and his numbers got better and better.
The only one Center I can't speak for of the ones we've been talking about is Splitter as I've only seen him play twice. But if you haven't seen Gasol play in the last year he's a totally different player than the year before and his time in Spain.

with Slovenia i saw a chubby guy who had i 2p shot in forty minutes...

Actually Savanovic is safe ,when Ivkovic have made first cut he was deciding between Macvan and Radenovic. He complimented Savanovic a lot. In Savanovic we have a player who can run the fast break, create shots for himself and others and he is a very good 3 pt shooter. The idea is for Serbia to play even faster than the last year. Savanovic replacing Velickovic is replacing like for like. Now i really hope Ivkovic will bring all 6 big guys. Macvan was the big part of our NT team last year,he hit some big shots last year he needs to continue playing on the big stage he's our future. Also Savanovic could play as SF sometimes and Macvan could be useful at C if god forbid something happen to our center's like today when he filled in for Perovic and Raduljica. He did great job on Mozgov today. Also I worry for Bjelica he might be odd man out. He really played terrible so far and Ivkovic is very hard on him:( Bjelica is forcing the issue , he's trying too hard to score and create while in the process he's making lots of mistakes. He should play same like the last year in EC. Garbing the boards, helping on the defensive end and scoring easy points.
