General Manager Rich Cho told the NBA press that center Joel Pryzbilla will likely not be playing on the first month of the season nor Pryzbilla would be working out extensively on the Portland Trailblazers training camp. Pryzbilla would be given light workouts for fitness purposes during training camp and the medical team is eyeing a November or December playing clearance depending on Medical Results.

Most of the Trailblazers big men are injury prone. :(

The Portland Trailblazers have offered Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez to the New York Knicks in exchange for forward Anthony Randolph last night. The Knicks refused.

Portland Trailblazers forward Lamarcus Aldridge has added 20 more pounds to his 6-11 frame.

While Greg Oden will not join the team's scrimmages set for this week.

center Joel Pryzbilla will return to play for the Portland Trailblazers sometime in December.

Good development on the saga of Rudy Fernandez as he was quoted on an interview with marca.com

"I think if Portland keeps my rights, that means they believe in me. I'm excited to begin the season with them and prove that I have my place on the team and play minutes."

"The most important thing is to grow as a player and as a person. I'm an NBA player and there's not many people who can say that."

All is well that ends well. Good for the Blazers heading into training camp.

Australian guard Patrick Mills will be flying in from Australia to sign a 1 year Guaranteed contract as a Qualifying offer from the Trailblazers. As confirmed by Portland Trailblazers General Manager Rich Cho on a press release statement.

Before October 31, Greg Oden is expecting a contract extension from the Portland Trailblazers. Rumor has it that the Blazers are not keen on committing to a long term contract with Oden.

I don't blame them :D. The Blazers have really been cursed with their big men and i'm actually even surprised that they're willing to sign Oden for a contract extension. However should he get injured once more then I don't think not only the Blazers but every other NBA team will think twice before signing him up.

Yes, it is very unfortunate, people call it the "Bill Walton curse" according to team superstition by the fans and media. I just feel for Oden as he is really working so hard this weekend to get back in shape. Last season, he was teary eyed when the doctors told him that he will be out for the season.

Blazers bigmen down with injuries

Blazers bigmen down with injuries

Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla are still recovering from knee injuries, and center Marus Camby is still recovering from a right groin injury.

The good news is that Lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy are healthy. Looks like more time for Luke Babbit, Dante Cunningham and Jeff Pendegraph; small ball.

Jeff Pendegraph suffered a serious knee injury on the Blazers' pre-season game against the Utah Jazz. No timetable has been set for his return nor the Blazers have disclosed the medical tests.

Forward Jeff Pendegraph is out for the NBA 2010-2011 Season after the medical results revealed a torned interior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Following this development, Portland Trailblazers General Manager Rich Cho told the press that the Blazers are looking to sign a free agent center next week as the Blazers bigmen like Oden, Pryzbilla and Camby are still rehabilitating from their respective injuries.

Rumor has it that the Portland Trailblazers are keen on signing free agent center Earl Barron.

I don't know if the Blazers need to start wearing lucky charms but this is getting ridiculous. Every big man who is even considering signing for the Blazers should start thinking twice about doing so or ask for a really high salary to compensate for that :D

Now I am a firm believer of the RIP CITY CURSE. :p But there is a silver lining for the said curse where if all players are healthy; a championship caliber team is guaranteed. Just like the Walton days.

Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez has been fined $50,000 for statements detrimental to the league.

Fernandez was also fined $25,000 recently in August for similar statements.

Also, the Portland Trailblazers have signed free agent center Steven Hill. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Terry Porter

Former Portland Trailblazers star and former NBA Head Coach Terry Porter will be a Studio Analysts, Commentator and Court Side Reporter for the Portland Trailblazers next season.

Portland Trailblazers guard Brandon Roy issued an aggressive approach for the upcoming season:

I want the Ball more.

Also Roy stated confidence on him being the primary option for offense during crunch-time:

“I want to be maximized every game. That’s a position that I’m strong with, with the basketball, and I’m extremely confident with it.”

I think that Roy has something to prove this season and I think he will up his scoring more this season. Roy set a career high 22.4 ppg during the 08-09 season as he lead the Blazers to a 54 win season.

I think Rudy Fernandez that was yelling "I want out" is no longer around as I am seeing a Rudy Fernandez that is focused and blending well with his teammates on and off the court.

So far, Fernandez made 18 three pointers in the past 5 pre-season games within the season. Plus Fernandez' body language is enthusiastic. Which are all encouraging signs.

Portland Trailblazers General Manager Rich Cho has released a press statement that they are inquiring about the availabilty of veteran Argentinian center Fabricio Oberto.
