According to Eurobasket, New Jersey Nets point guard Jordan Farmar is close to signing a contract with Israel's Maccabi Haifa.

It is reported that Kevin Seraphin of the Washington Wizards is close to signing a contract with the French team, Cholet Basket.

Dwyane Wade is said to be offered by the Zhejiang Lions team (Chinese Basketball Association) a contract worth $2 Million a month. Read it from the Chicago Tribune.

According to the Associated Press, it's official, but he's signing with Maccabi Tel Aviv. I'm glad. Farmar is a decent player and he deserves to be in a top league. MTA always carries a lot of American players and they've got Milan Macvan (of interest to me since he was drafted by the Cavs). Will they try to get citizenship for Farmar?

Washington Wizards forward Trevor Booker is reported to have signed with the Israeli team, Bnei HaSharon. The contract is a one year bond that has an Escape Clause.

At first he will not get a citizenship because the taxes for foreign players are lower, after the whole thing is closed he will so that he can play as in Israeli which will help in the Israeli league because the restrictions allow only 4 foreigns to play at a given game. (not that we really need him to dominate the Israeli league..
About Macvan, we didn't see a lot of his talent last season although there were some sparks and he proved that when he plays face-up and not forced to go to the post he can be a point-per-minute player (he showed that only in Israeli league tho cuz he didn't get much minutes in Europe)
I believe that this season when he's more connected to the team and he's with the team from the beginning he will feel more comfortable within the team and his role will grow.
The potential is definitely there and being the hard worker that he is, he will probably live to the expectations, but I must say that I think he fits the European basketball much more than the NBA.

Thanks for the opinions about Macvan. I sent you a message about him with a few more questions. :D

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't think he's going to dominate the Israeli league (let alone the EL). He's a great player and he deserves to play, but he's not going to dominate. I Think you'll find he's just a very solid athlete.

I don't think you understand how easy it is to dominate the Israeli league :D

Casspi is close to Maccabi..
I'm not sure if I like this move. He's a great player and an Israeli but 2 players that may leave any minute is just too much, I'd rather have none but if it's one, and one like Farmar that settles for a ridiculous salary then it's somewhat fine..

I don't know if someone posted it before, but it is out on the brazilian press that Kobe Bryant offered himself to play for Flamengo. He is asking 'only' 1 million dollars per month.

He is a big fan of our country and a personal friend of Ronaldinho Gaucho, the former Barcelona and Milan, and nowdays Flamengo's superstar football player.

When do these leagues (involving teams which have acquired NBA players) begin play for their next season?

Euroleague's qualifiers starts in the end of September, regular season on 19th of October.

Other leagues should start in October too

Great! Hopefully our local basketball channel brings back Euroleague games to its fold (last season we did not have it though we had it two years back)

Else, we can only watch highlights from the FIBA recap shows for our dose of the Euroleague.
