Players that we can have naturalized

So, we have these needs in the FIBA level that most likely should be filled by an NP:

1. Go-to guy
2. Interior defensive presence

These are the two biggest holes in our Gilas rosters, e.

We still lack size on the wings, shooting , defense and good play making.

We basically need a LeBron type player to gap these holes

So we wanted to clone a 6'8 sean chambers or modern day Devin Davis to fit on Tim's requiremnts.. i for one wanted a 6'8 blakely

Atleast boatwright is relatively young (27), good for atleast 2 fiba cycles.

SBP's budget must be tight these days, Boatwright is a downgrade from a prime blatch but its something..

With a lot of gilas players coming from overseas leagues, money had to be spread (RE:, insurance premiums)

Should get young ineligible players instead of boatwright. Heaps of them.

Cheaper?...as an ineligible guy (that will be lobbied to be a local) would cost more as he will be in demand in asian leagues

That's way cheaper than naturalizing a player like boatwright.. do what gilas women is doing. Naturalized players are our ineligibles (vanessa de jesus)

it only costs much because we need to spend lobby money in congress and senate to make the naturalization bill going...ad the last time we got an inleigible to be aour np cost us million of dollars for insurance alone (to add limited paractice dates)

We can have the likes of hepa, qmb, remy, harper jr.. lots of them kahit we don't include kabayan anymore..

clarkson's an nba player with a fat contract, if they get non-nba players or minimum nba players like harper jr it will be way cheaper

at this point my reaction to boatwright is just better than nothing. but i hope they naturalize more especially 2-way bigs and not stop with 3 players in the pool

I hope we're not done naturalizing players. JB fills a lot of holes for us (perimeter and interior defense, shooting, playmaking, go-to option, size at the wing). Those holes will be apparent once he's retired from the NT.

Clarkson is expensive because he is currently an NBA player. save for Green (whom USAB probably wont release soon ) we do not have an ineligible player who is in the NBA. those who has a good shot at making it, Dylan Harper and JJ Mandaquit, are well within USAB's grasp currently. RHJ and Miller(after a few years) might be more reasonable to be included in the pool now. SBP can decide what to do with them when the right tournament comes.

The best NP that is ineligible is Ron Harper Jr and he wont come cheap since he is ex NBA.

he is recovering from a season ending injury. offering him money to showcase his game and a probably shot at B league as an Asian import might make him think. but first things first, hopefully SBP reached out to atleast, present Gilas to the family.

I think between jj and Dylan, jj has a higher chance of playing for Gilas in the future but if Dylan could be recruited he’d be a great pickup, 6’5 high iq pg potentially going to the nba. Be better to try and recruit him now while he’s still young

I think Sir Dave and Sir Nardy's team with the help of Filam Nation Select guys had the brains and physical presence to hook-up and coordinate wiith the family, certainly with SBP on behalf of the new Exec. Director can make those things happen. if we based the previous statements of the parents I think they had no problem in obtaining the docs it's just that, currently, the family's table are full.

having the two brothers as a package with Ron Jr. being the naturalize guy and Dylan at 18 had a fighting chance to be exempted in few more years assuming the docs are already been obtain now and both NSA's agreed on the change of allegiance then I don't think it may create many complications moving forward.

same with the JJ kid who already obtained his docs before turning 16, it's just that he is now in the thick of preparation for the U17 World Cup for Team USA.

I think this also one of the reason why he is not participated on this year's edition of NBTC.

He already is making a living through basketball. What kind of argument is that?

He will make more if he's not bound with a Filipino citizenship that's going nowhere as far basketball is concerned.By the way he got that job by his and his agent alone, nothing from the hateful SBP,a homegrown talent that can't even play in country as a local.Besides aren't you confident that a Gilas team can mop the best in Asia without a Kouame as a backup to Kai?

He made money as an NP in the Philippines. He understands the transaction he made. He got the job because Tab/MVP knows him well. Same reason Boatwright is getting consideration now just with different padrinos.

Christ, just naturalize all the college FSA's already. Not all of them will be good enough to play in France. At least reward some of them for taking the time to grind in local college basketball than tending some farm in Africa.

better yet, allow them to play in the PBA. give each team 1 slot for FSAs who played at least 4 years in local colleges. the best FSAs get naturalized. that would also simulate having 2 world imports in regular pba games

Ive always liked this idea, but people are going to complain that there will be one less slot for locals as a result
