Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember that Christian Wood of now Houston rockets was in our list of naturalization candidate. To bad SBP is very slow and missed the opportunity to secure his services and now he is playing very well for Houston Rockets.

so if the candidate refused to be naturalized, it means sbp is very slow?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but with the possibility of ange being a local soon, can we field one of jeremiah gray/brandon rosser/taylor statham as our naturalized player?

Basically any one who gets a Phil passport ( whatever process hokus pokus etc) is eligible to take the 1 unrestricted ( NP ) spot .

Im liking gray and rosser as our NP with kouame possibly being considered as local. They both play off-ball, have size (6’5 and 6’7 respectively), are athletic finishers, can shoot and space the floor, and fill a position of need for us (wing and combo forward). SBP should include both to the upcoming pool.

I wonder what this means. Hopefully, we can naturalize him. He looks like he wants to play for the country. We'll need a backup if Kouame's busy.

He has been very vocal about this since when? 2019? I wonder what prohibited the SBP for him to be naturalized. Strong backer? Monetary issues? i think its the latter.

How's his commitment though? Is he willing to live in the Philippines "full-time"?

Malabo yan.. Alam naman natin talent like him always hot commodity in any leagues abroad.. And with PBA's stand against naturalized players, Eh malabo talaga...

Maybe that's one big reason SBP is NOT interested in getting him naturalized and went for Kouame instead. They want someone who would spend significant time in the Philippines as some sort of "in house" NP. Not just someone "on call"/per diem

If we do go this route, I only hope we don't fall into 'asa sa import' mode.

Di natin pwedeng tawagin asa kay luka ang slovenia..dito when scola was in his prime..

Champion fiba teams get superstar performance from its players..
Blatche only played like a champion in xinjiang.. ing changsha ayun he played like he was on xinjiangs payroll pa..

Why asa sa import? He'll be playing under tab, right?

I get that. Thing is, I think the superstar should take over and get most of the possessions like Luka and Giannis did if the others don't perform. If the others don't perform because of the overreliance on the superstar, that will be the problem.

In our case, of course, the import will get his points. Thing is, it's best if he gets his points in the flow of the offense and we'll need to involve the locals a little more too.

Sa bagay, oo nga, he'll be playing under Tab, which will mitigate or even lessen the ball-dominance to a degree. Just worried we might fall back to old habits after Tab.

I’ve been observing Myles Turner’s game for quite sometimes now and in my own opinion are tailor made for our Gilas program if the SBP are dead serious in playing for the medal rounds come 2027 and beyond, the dude has a high motor, had a very decent work rate as far as Rebounding (7.6 RPG, currently ranked 40th this season) and Blocks are concern (2.8 BPG currently ranked 1st in the league). Aside from being the current Eraserman, he is now expanding his mid-range jumper beyond the rainbow area hence it only shows the guy is dead serious in expanding his horizon (FG% 51.6; 3P% 39.4%; FT% 69.8%), In a perfect situation, I think he will be a perfect complement for Kai and AJ who are both decent shot blocker with AK37 and JC’s impending exemption (hopefully). Imagine, with Kai, AJ(injured free), AK37, Justine, IG, Carl, Geo, Seven and MT(naturalized guy) as our designated guys in the 3,4,5 position.

Unfortunately, he's already played for Team USA in a FIBA competition.

Dude, he already played for the US team in 2019.
