Players that we can have naturalized

Let's qualify though who we can offer naturalization to, objectively players in the NBA or with large contracts in the CBA or Europe will not fit the availability requirements for Gilas. so when you think about it Div 2 CBA or imports with short term contracts (like PBA imports or those in Europe (but short) term are what is available. The top tier ( NBA players and Euro league long term contract holders) will not agree or be open to playing for Gilas . As such that's why Austin is what we have available

With the talks on Martial Law (God forbid), wonder how will this change the entire process.

I stand corrected by this, but if ever Martial Law is declared (GOD forbid), I think mas magiging madali ang naturalization proceedings, that is if the President will be in favor of such naturalization. What I mean is that, since Congress would be abolished during Martial Law, the naturalization proceedings would be through a Presidential Decree, the same naturalization proceedings that former Phi. team champion swimmer Akiko Thompson (my long-time crush:cool:) went through.

So everything will depend on the President. And the President can do it (grant naturalization) anytime he wants.

Again, I stand corrected by what I said.

No, the Constitution is very clear on this. There's absolutely no way for Congress to be abolished when Martial Law is declared. That can be done in the 1935 Constitution, which Marcos utilized to the hilt to get what he wanted. But in the 1987 Constitution, that cannot be made.

Regarding naturalization, there are only certain laws that the President can come up with through executive orders during Martial Law. Naturalization isn't one of them, since this does not involve security issues to the country.

Christine Jacobs is also a naturalised Filipino. Even if she had filipino blood, it will take time to process all the needed documents and the tournament is fast approaching so she was naturalised via Presidential decree . Napanood ko lang yan sa TV program ni Chino trinidad in an interview on Game @ GMA news TV few years back, im still too young during those times.:p
