Foreign coach with good nt experience just like japan Nt

Yes, I agree.

But who in that caiber are available and willing to coach Philippines?

Hmmm.

I think there will be interested if they post a job opening. lmao. Especially we are host in World Cup.

But Do they even put an effort to find for one? I dont think so.

Looks like Its Coach Chot again.

We are not sure if it is permanent though. Baka ibahin na naman yan pag malapit na world cup. LOL.

It is not like our players are ultra super talented that they can play and fit into any system.

But Good luck to Coach Chot. He still serving the country.

Deploy Mavs Phenomenal

Terrence Romeo and 4 other ballhandlers doing DDO

Nothing can go wrong

He heard everyone's complain that we lack quality PGs on Gilas. Maybe he plans on bringing back Castro, Tenorio and TR and Lee

Well, they can easily replace nietos, rj, AND sj.

But for wings, combo forwards, and bigs. Hays. I hope he retains them.

especially Tamayo and Balti as Combo Forwards

I hope Chot retains the bigs and the wings. More importantly, he needs to have a wing as the 3, as much as possible.

Furthermore, he should shift his focus from the guards to the bigs, because right now, our bigs are literally our best asset.

That is kinda obvious. Obviously, it is not voluntarily

And what.

Coach tab is not even the program director anymore?????

So Coach tab is already not linked with Gilas in anyway now.

Ouch.

That " tactical immature" remark really get in the heads of local coaches and bcap.

If they only understand and comprehend better.

Coach tab didnt say it was all local coaches fault. He also mentioned something like our local coaches are good coaches, but victims of the system and politics in basketball here. (Non Verbatm but u get the point)

Is Chot gonna step down as TNTs headcoach? Tab was forced to step down as Gilas Coach to focus on Ateneo. It would be unfair if Chot won't do the same. Unless they think coaching in the UAAP is harder thab in the PBA

It will be unfortunate if Tab falls to the hands of our neighbors, especially Taiwan. Not only that he is a good coach, he is also well-familiar with Philippine basketball. Yari tayo.

For months now, Tab Baldwin had been hearing footsteps about being eased out as Gilas head coach.

Last night, the dreaded knock on the door came.

Per multiple sources, he did not "step down." Poor Tab was pushed aside.

If true, this whole thing is complete bullshit. WE DON'T NEED A COACHING CHANGE. What we need right now is continuity (especially in terms of defensive identity), and focus on developing young players to compete beyond 2027, which we can afford right now BECAUSE WE'RE ALREADY QUALIFIED.

MOTHERFUCKING BULLSHIT.

UAAP, harder? Nobody has broken through Tab's defense yet in the UAAP.

Oh, yeah, I suddenly remembered Chua's "pang-amateur ka lang."

Well, that amateur coach beat the koreans twice with an amateur - something the pro coach with a team of pro players could not do.

There is no such thing as Korean Curse. What we really have is a PBA Curse because strategies of PBA coaches are proven to be ineffective in FIBA.

This is like Chots move in TNT. He had a potential game changer as a sister teams pick. He knew he could convince Kelly to unretire. And he had a decent team. And there was low expectations. So TNT was a win win for him. Manalo matalo in his first year no problem.

In Gilas case he can lose 2022 but still keep his head. But the thing is he is no Tab. He will naturally revert to his system. And take note what he said, Di kaya ni June Mar si Haddadi. He doesnt trust our local bigs. If it were him we wouldnt have the potential monster at SF that is Baltazar. Di kaya ni Balti yun. I dont know what SBP is thinking and ultimately MVP.

Watch us not win a single game again woohoo I love this move let's go laban pilipinas puso

my prediction as well, we won't win any single game in this OQT. if that happens, then go for Chot's head. but expect that Chot will do bunot, even to the point of sending TNT.

Let's see if the holdovers stay. Isaac Go, Navarro, Nieto bros already drafted so they have to play. Ange is still with ADMU, same with Geo, SJ, Dave I, plus other UAAP collegiate Carl Tamayo and Balti, i expect not to play.

Chot will always be flashy so expect Kai to play.

i still want a Chot-led team to lose.

Reiterating the point that Jong would have been a better choice than Chot as Tab's replacement. Jong has served in Tab's coaching staff for a while, and he thus learned Tab's system on offense and defense. Chot on the other hand is an outsider, and might enforce his offensive system (I hope only little). Another thing is, Jong might have bought into Tab's plan to get young players and develop them. More importantly, unlike Chot, who relies almost exclusively on guards (and other players with guard-like skills), Jong could better adjust to the composition of his players. He could run his plays either through guards or bigs, like what he did in Ginebra and San Miguel. When he had the two Dannys (Ildefonso and Seigle) and Menk, he used them, not just his guards (Olsen, Dondon, Caguioa, Jayjay).

Attacking the Zone is Chot’s number one problem.

Simply because he doesn’t know how.

I know people hate Sayson maybe in this circle, but it's good that he sounded this one off. Tab was removed. Even if he won twice against Korea. there is no more meritocracy. this is just plain mediocrity!

Apologies in advance, but no need to convince me (or any other person in this forum).

That aside, yes. PBA strategies of drive and kick and sagging off on shooters won't cut it in FIBA, especially against the likes of SoKor, Kazakhstan, even NZ and Chinese Taipei, who can make us pay from 3.

Plus, attacking the zone, similar to what interxavierxxx said. Zone works in PBA because we can't make them pay. Either we can't make shots, or we don't know how to attack it (which is through shooting, ball and player movement, and offensive rebounding, and finding weak spots in zone).

Honest question though.

I am not saying it will happen.

But if dribble drive will gonna be somewhat successful because All of our best players are available IN 2023. Will the credit even go to coach chot?

I reviewed like 3-4 videos of Coach Chot's Dribble drive Offense.

It is heavily reliant on Player's Talent. As in HEAVILY RELIANT.

I just think even if Dribble drive becomes successful, some may argue it is only because of the Players talent.

Dribble Drive Offense can be summarized into:

1. If you have the ball. Make a quick decision to shoot, drive, or pass in a 1on 1 situation.

2. Shooters Be ready for Kick out passes.

3. Abanger Player should know where to position when someone drives. (Opposite to the side which the driver is going)

4. Abanger Big Can also Post sometimes since the inside is open. because the other 4 are spread out. (Used if u have dominant bigs)

I kinda doubting a little on this.

Ramos, Baltazar, and Tamayo looks fit on systematic swing offense. But I am not sure how effective they can be if you will give them the ball and make them play 1 on 1 and break down their defender.

And I just discuss offense.

Defense is another issue. I hope wag na palitan defense. Offense will be change, I think it is inevitable in any coaching change.

Is the guy doing good things in taiwan lately?

Kaohsiung is the number one team in T1 League. I watch T1 every weekends and I love Brendan Joyce's work in offense and defense there. He knows how to use Brickman and Hu Longmao to the team's advantage.

if it's DDO, then MVP group should throw all the money it can muster. pay Jordan's Clarkson insurance. Plus all the top talent money can buy in the PBA. plug all those positions. forget the players we developed, bunot player that fits DDO in all the roles you mentioned.

if Miami Heat is the model, who will play the Bam Adebayo role? is Kai ready? maybe AJ Edu is. Ange Kouame is the new Douthit. also, get Spoelastra as consultant in World Cup 2023 since we're throwing all the money anyway.

Chot likes his small ball. He is like the opposite of Tab who is more comfortable with tall but fast ball. We will have two PGs and a small SF. Good bye big PG dreams. Good bye big SF dreams. I thought corporations were results oriented. What is the logic of removing a coach who was the architect of defeating Korea 2x with an all amateur team? I dont know how MVP and the SBP guys can justify this in their heads.

If Chot plays 3 guards, a big PF, and Kouame or Blatche, that to me is not small ball. Siguro if Erram, Kelly, Chiu, or Go plays center, I can count that as small-ball, because all of the bigs I mentioned can play the PF. Or if Navarro and Oftana play 4. Small ball, to me, is when a wing or a guard plays 4, and/or when the five is a big who can play PF, or a wing, or even an guard.

I've been allergic to Chot's 3-guard lineups for quite a while (I think we all are), and looks like we're about to see it again with Gilas. Hay, nako.
