the only good thing out of this is no more sj :D

wait, I think SJ fits the ddo philosophy, but yeah Chot would not go for player development with just 1 year left before the WC. (god this also doubles as the olympic qualifier, they should keep that in mind)

What if chot loses to koreans next window? There will be a backlash for sure. Or there will be excuses?

Well, the guy hasn't beaten the Koreans (or the Iranians) since 2013. So don't be surprised if we drop all our games including NZ.

And lookie here, the move is already unpopular with the fans: https://www.spin.ph/life/guide/reac...-gilas-tab-baldwin-resignation-a1374-20220131

Hay, nako. Hope Chot will prove all of us wrong. If we get blown out thrice, sus ginoo, time for change.

Correct me if I am wrong.

But when Coach tab was assigned, there is no mention of being the permanent coach right.

If I remember correctly, they are looking for a european coach. And I think they already talked to some candidates?

But because no one was signed yet. Coach Tab took over.

Hays. Yeah. We can only hope for the best for our gilas

I think that may kinalaman bcap and pba dito for hiring chot as coach.. they didn’t like tab in the first place.. if not nagmatigas ang ateneo then I think tab will leave here and coach other countries.. masyadong luxurious ang bigay ng ateneo for him that he can’t refuse.. bcap and pba are really jealous on tab’s achievements, that’s why they backstab him and insist that pba will no longer support gilas if tab still the coach…

Why the heck do they keep on hiring Chot? Don't they want to try someone else?

Who would be the ideal coach though?

Among the pba coaches, Coach Chot is the most successful.

So, a better coach would have been a european or foreign coach. Or maybe a collegiate coach?

Also, I would have prefer for a new coach that just continue Coach Tab's system.

But we all know, it is not going to happen. They will implement their own system if they are the new coach.

It is just a mess that we dont have continuation in terms of system and identity

Can't believe I actually lost sleep over the coaching move. Knee-jerk reaction, goddamn. Why make the move DURING THE WINDOWS?

But, well, it's done. But, for the love of God, I really hope he learned his lessons. Keep developing the kids during the windows, the PBA players coming only in the tournaments proper, involve the bigs more, whether in the PnR or in the post, only MINOR tweaks to the offensive system, keep any defensive improvements he had in the PBA. And, no 3-guard lineups, please.

Frankly, Jong would have been a better replacement coach for continuity of Tab's defensive philosophy and to involve the bigs more. He probably would have picked up on the development of the players. Now, why hire an outsider to the system, and DURING THE WC WINDOWS?

Watch us not win a single game again woohoo I love this move let's go laban pilipinas puso

I feel bad for Ange if Chot does not plan to use him. Dude went through the naturalization process in order to play for us, and not for Ivory Coast, only for him not to actually play in the end; and it's not like he's a bad player

Sigh, after the good news of Maldita and Kai sotto good game, we receive this breaking news, breaking our hearts. anyway moving on. For me the biggest question now , will they wipe out all the beautiful system of Coach Tab and change it from scratch using again that dreaded small ball and dribble drive system of Coach Chot? And will we be back and relying again on older pba players instead of our talented youth players last year Clark bubble?

If we're going to send a scarecrow like Coach Chot to the World Cup edi lubusin na natin and send Coach Maverick Bautista of Mav's Phenomenal. Tutal this is just the dayo series for MVP then let's send an actual amateur team who does dayo stints. Can't wait to see 5 Terrence Romeos on the court representing the Philippines!

Who asked for this $hit. Literally all the post and comments I've seen criticized this move. Chot better win games or he'll face public backlash

So kai will get Dray's role. Screen setter then pop, wait for kickout pass, then fake and drive. Look for outside open shooters to pass or shoot the ball. The other big man will wait for drop pass. :D

I’m actually curious to see how Chot will use Kai as the centerpiece on his offense ala Dray role, this is interesting to say the least

Kai's not ready for that role just yet. He needs to grow into that role in Gilas first. At the start of his career, I think Kai should just try to be a rim-runner first. It's a better use of his skills as of the moment. More efficient shots.

Speaking of rim runners, you'd think that with having mobile bigs like Kelly Williams, Troy Rosario, and JP Erram, Chot would have maximized them as rim-runners, and he'd have learned the value of rim runners. Man. That would have gotten his bigs far more involved in the offense.
