The point is if Chot isnt good at getting the talent available, well Tab had the same problem.

It's a given naman regardless of which coach may di tlga makukuhang player for one reason or another. The only glaring thing is that Tab made things work and made himself responsible and accountable for the whole thing while Chot has a knack of only being there pag ok ang sitwasyon. Parang the past few years it's been Chot coming in at a good situation for the program tapos layas pag sumabog o sumablay.

May issue ba si tab at chot are they still friends? Maganda resulta nung 2013 and 2014 when tab serve as chot consultant?

but atleast, we have an assurance that tab will develop his players to their fullest potential. you give him young guns and he will turn them up to a good squad just like what he did in clark and in belgrade, even amman. look at balti, in la salle, he was shying away from hitting the threes. puro midrange lang. but look after a few months with tab - he is confident three point shooter, with nice handles for a bigman and good perimeter defense.

we even saw how he transformed a group of old players into a silver medalists.

can we say the same thing with chot? taga-kain lang naman yun.

I'm ok if we don't win a lot of games as long as we're developing guys. We already had a good foundation for the future. And it's not like we're getting blown out. The young guys are competing and even winning games. Why give all of that now?

i've already detached from a lot of basketball games especially NBA and PBA. except for the Paras B. League games (lots of controlled foul calls) or the recent Kai game. I was already thinking of practicing detachment to these commercial sports, but Gilas games are just few weeks away.

i'm done. Maybe I'll just check one Korea game and say in this space to bring back Tab. so i hope we lose all our OQT games, we dont need it anyway, we're qualified.

my analysis: Tab wants to use the B. League players and not call up PBA players. this is what broke the camel's back. in a commercial perspective, this is disastrous for a commercial league like the PBA not represented in FIBA World Cup. and that's why we will never win in World Cup..

another point is Suerte, Bulanadi, Nieto bros news was a red flag. something was happening, my guess is Tab dont want to release them. the Dwight and Heading development might have done this in. expect this young Gilas to be disbanded and the drafted players to go to their mother teams..

again my call is: if Chot loses all the OQT games, call for his head and bring back Tab.

Okay i accept Coach Tab step down maybe he has really has personal issues that was not mentioned. But why Coach chot? not foreign coach or Coach Uichico.

Coach Jong may still be recovering from sickness.

But I agree, The reactions will not be like this.

IF COACH TAB IS REPLACED BY ANOTHER EUROPEAN COACH.

Instead, we went back to Coach Chot.

I only know two words why this happened :

"Tactical Immature". (You already know what I mean)

Gilas Success in 2023 WC will be credited in a filipino pba coach. Hays.

Oh yes, i remember Coach Jong got sick. Well i think fans will not be this angry if the replacement coach was not Coach Chot. It should have been a foreign coach(Dickels?) or maybe innovative local coach like Coach Ayo. Well, we shall see. I saw some changes from Coach chot last Philippine cup in PBA, less drama and complain and more reserve but still the dreaded small ball system and over reliance on dribble drive.

Defense too, actually, like I repeatedly said. TNT rotated well in the driving lanes and closed out on shooters, meaning Chot took something drom Tab.

However, I fear for our roster composition and development of our young players. This is not the time to win now. Can we do this AFTER we've used up our windows to develop young players?

A lot of the young guys either left or wanted to leave the team. Even the FEU guys left Gilas since FEU not Gilas is there priority. Maybe pivoting to Chot is accepting that you probably need PBA talent. Especially since Tab's teams strength should be cohesion and if players are just leaving than that is lost.

This is a valid point.

Tab not getting his core players from overseas as well as his unwillingness to use PBA players or release guys like Suerte/Bulanadi to their PBA teams became too hellish.

He realized that the team is already qualified so why bother?

We need PBA talent, yes, but not for the WC windows, where we should be focusing on development.

We need the PBA players for the tournaments proper themselves.

I agree with this but I think shifting to Chot is a long term move especially since Tab is also out as Gilas program director. I guess he really wanted a full time team but his players weren't as committed so he left. Not that he was that committed too, its not like he left Ateneo for Gilas.

expect Kouame, Dwight not to return. not sure about Thirdy or Kiefer.

Actually, that's of little concern to me, compared to tactical and roster changes. Sana minor tweaks lang, because for this window, development is the priority, even if we have to take L's to the chin. At least the players will have the experience.

Quick recap of coach chots modified dribble drive offense.

4 players outside. 1 player inside (usually the Center or PF)

Whoever have the ball between 4 perimeter players. They will make a quick decision to shoot, pass, or drive.

When they drive, they must attract help defense so they can kick out outside, or drop pass inside.

The big man is the "abangers role". He goes opposite to the side of the driver's driving lane. He should be ready for drop or alley hoop pass. He must also be ready to fight for offensive rebounds.

I hope Players like Kai, Baltazar, and Tamayo are one of the Perimeter guys. The abangers role can be played by Ange or AJ. Or pwede rin palitan.

nahhh! what long term?? the World Cup is next year! the focus should only be World Cup 2023 which we are hosting.

Well, I just hope Chot doesn't tinker too much with the system or the roster. Like I've said, he's probably taken a page from Tab defensively. However, I hope that he can trust his bigs more, whether in the post or in the PnR.

Another is, I hope he doesn't run 3-guard lineups unless the 3rd guard is Thirdy or Dwight. The 3 should be a guy the size of Navarro, Baltazar, or Tamayo.

And furthermore, I hope he has a development staff, since some posters pointed out his lack of chops as a developmental coach. We need to develop players beyond 2023.

Short Answer: No.

Lol. Ok then.

We better win, if we will stop developing.haha

Yeah, Tab was program director. I think he was just pushed into the HC role, because we're out of options.

Even with Chot's improvements, I still think Jong would have been a better choice for FIBA.
