A back-up naturalized player or a go-to-guy naturalized player? I'll go for JC..

It depends who are Kai's back-up at the 5. So far, other bigmen in the Gilas pool are Geo Chiu, Tzaddy Rangel, Ladis Lepalam and Isaac Go. I don't see any bigmen in the PBA as potential back-up to Kai. AJ Edu is rehabilitating. Erram is primarily a 4 that can play 5 occasionally. Junemar sucks on D.

All things considered, I will for Kouame as our naturalized player. 2/3 positions are already covered by Navarro, LeBron, Dwight, Dave, and, possibly, Ray Parks and Calvin Oftana whereas the 1/2 positions are covered Robert Bolick, Kiefer Ravena, Jordan Heading, Matt Nieto.

I believe that Clarkson, as a naturalized player, is a bit out of place in Gilas.

2 and 3 position are already covered? Those players over a legit NBA scorer? Kai's back up will only get to play 8-10 minutes, so why waste the naturalized spot for a back-up center..

I think we should also factor that realistically JC will only practice with Gilas for 2 weeks tops as compared to Kouame 2 years

Additionally Kouame even if Kai is as good. Is not limited to just being a back up . You can play them together for prolong stretches

Kouame actually fits with Gilas' defensive identity as well. However, with a few more years, I think he could be a featured scoring option, given that he has improved in the post.

With Kouame and Kai, we'd have TWO inside scoring threats, in addition to defense.

Basically because we need size and strength underneath. If Kai sits, there might be a huge hole in the middle. They will not overwork Kai. The backup could end up with 10-15 minutes of playing time and this period is still long. You need one that can fill it. The only bigman that I can think off is AJ, who has been recovering from his injuries.

Clarkson is just a mere redundancy at the 1/2/3 positions and a possible liability in Gilas scheme of things.

I actually understand why people want Clarkson here, though. He fills a need, which is shot creation, something we lacked against the MENA teams in the King's Cup. Relying on ball movement too much can only get us so far.

What happened sir Dave to the the 4-out 1-in motion offense you preach for the Gilas?:o So which of the two(Kai and Angelo) will join the 4 players spaced out behind the three-point line and who is the post player inside?

If Kai can play at a high level for 35 minutes a night on possibly back to back games then we might not need Kouame. But Kai's biggest weaknesses ATM aside from defense is his stamina and durability.

"According to numerous sources closely monitoring the situation, Adams obtained his Philippine passport before the age of 16.

This makes the 27-year-old Filipino-American eligible not just to play as an Asian import in Japan or Korea but also for Gilas Pilipinas."

LOL. So he finally found his misplaced passpport?

I think He should be considered for our National Team. He is a Good Swing or Combo Forward.

I think we might have our 3-and-D player. He might be a 2-3, and 6'5" is 6'5", especially for that position. He's in his prime already, though, at 27, going 28. A year younger than Rey Suerte.

He'll be available only in the FIBA Asia Cup, though. Will Tab consider him?

We are not sure if it will translate to Fiba. But we better try

Hope he'll be more of Marcio Lassiter, Jeff Chan, and Larry Fonacier instead of Matthew Wright and RR Pogoy in FIBA. He just needs confidence and consistency. He's already used to shooting off-ball, so he might get used to the rhythm.

Roosevelt Adams' biggest upside is his height - that's a legit 6-foot-5 small forward right there with athleticism. Even if he may not shoot as accurate as an Allan Caidic or Jeff Chan from 3-pt range, he can pose matchup problems at the 3 spot becoz of his size & athleticism.

I say a Roosevelt Adams with a 3-pt shooting of either a Caidic or a Jeff Chan would surely be an NBA material.

WTH. Is this really happening? Someone better double check first before fielding him in a game or it could cost us.. though I'm doubtful he'll even join the pool.

On another note it's good that the farm team and the other evil empire lost out on him. Now he'll need to lose all the weight Cardel forced him to put on

or the sbp never bothered to approach him in fears that he is ineligible.

if approach, i believe he will not refuse as most eligible fil-am except marcio (mainly because of smb).

Hope he can also play defense. That length can come in handy. If we do get him for the FIBA Asia Cup and WC, Tab might just drill him on defense.

^ ^ ^ ^

Yeah, length & athleticism. I think being everything equal (lateral movement, speed, skills, smarts), a 6-foot-5 athletic player will do a significantly better job defensively than a 6-foot-3 less athletic player.
