There is a reason that when Kouame was fielded in previous games as a naturalized player (as exception had yet be granted ). Officials submitted a "caveat, disclammer" essentially stating that playing as an restricted player should not prejudice the decision for an existing request of exception case yet to be decided.
Do note Kouame's case has yet to be given a decision. While Clarkson request has already been given a denial decision.

I firmly believe a resolution decision will be made just prior to the 2023 World cup, just wait. It's FIBAs way of managing possible political back lash.

Well, Dierker and Young are in Vietnam since 2016 (6 years since their arrival).. they played at SEAG, 3X3 and regular mainstay in VBA.. If Jawato (also 6 years stay at Indonesia) allowed then for sure those two can be exempted...

How many years as a child did Jawato live in Indonesia? This is huge for his case, but regardless it's all moot ..he was exempted. Using the Jawato as an example of how FIBA normally decides is foolish and irrelevant
It's like using Hakeem's as an example for switching from Nigeria to team USA or even Green in the future , these are all extremely rare one offs that we should not based things on

Slaughter , Fotu (no citizen parent), King , Spencer etc are the normal straight forward examples we should use as model examples in the case of the 3 there really is no question, a player of similar circumstances will be made eligible for exemption quite easily and quick.

I agree.. who we pursue for exemption should consider
1. Meets residency and hoop heritage requirements
And
2.will be available and worthy for use by Gilas

That will be useful for Kai Balunggay, he will going residency while he's in Ateneo then for sure he will play in the PBA then hoping one of MVP teams (or their farm team BWB) pick him.. SBP should careful next time.. Lassiter, Lutz and Slaughter's case was wasted due to political beef between two camps.. Hodge could be a useful in Gilas if he was exempted rather than Greg (He plays like Pingris anyway).. while i don't know if Mikey still have a chance to be exempted.. His age factor is also crucial, He's 30 right now and hard to give him exemption.. But if that happens, Mikey can blow by most of Asia/Pacific guards (excluding Webster bros and Patty Mills for sure).. Although he already reside here since 2018 because he was in MPBL playing before in the PBA...

At times, Hodge could guard the perimeter, and the opponent's wing import. He probably would have been a good option at the wing, and he would have played there more (well if there weren't 3-guard lineups).

Residency and local heritage should start as a teenager to be safe.

Our naturalization law should come into play here. Guys like Robbie Puno, Bambol Tolentino and Sonny Angara should sponsor a bill with the following features:

- children of foreign parents (14 years old and below) should either automatically eligible to become a Filipino citizen by fulfilling residency requirement (atleast 4 years), his registration at BID and his oath of allegiance. He does not need to go to a court to be granted Filipino citizenship.

We'll need the concurrence of both houses. HoR pa lang, that's a tough proposition. And the general populace is purist.

However, this will help declog a court's backlog by making this a simpler administrative proceeding. More efficient, in a way.

Well, this is only for people, both parents are foreigners, who have been living in the Philippines since childhood.

Those who did not meet the requirements will still have to go to courts to file their petition for naturalization.

Let's be honest here, Jawato got the exception because Indonesia is host . Of course FIBA will not admit that though

Hopefully Fiba will give us a favor too.

We are always the one hosting the qualifiers. And especially the World Cup in 2023.

Heading starting to prove his consideration as one of the gilas snipers.

Hope he can do that in Fiba consistently

AFAIK, in the current iteration, is already one, and not merely one for consideration.

Hmmm yeah.

But he will still compete with his spot.

But I am starting to like him and put him in my dream lineup for 2023

The guy was our most consistent shooter in the FIBA Asia qualifiers, OQT, and I think the King's Cup. I think he should have a strong case for the World Cup, or at least the July Qualifiers.

why do we always assume na SMC players will never play with gilas? isali mo jan sa pool ang mga smc players tutal pool naman yan just to add a little pressure and then sbp can negotiate with chua. thats best thing SBP can do kesa "ay wag na lng natin isali yan kasi nasa SMC camp".

Actually, that can be a nice plan. Automatically designate the SMC players to the pool. However, there's the chance that players will beg off despite being named to the pool.

Least SBP can do is require a medical certificate in case of begging off due to injury, something like that (which is what I advocated for at some point). Then and only then will the players begging off will be allowed get out of the pool.

Yeah, I still think automatically putting suitable PBA, collegiate, and HS players in the pool might do the trick, even for SMC. The only way the players can beg off is through injury or if they're cut from the pool. Vacation and personal reasons can be fabricated more easily, I dunno if they can be good enough excuses to beg off from the pool.

As for injury, a medical certificate signed by a doctor designated by the SBP is necessary for this. And that SBP-designated doctor must also be the one to look at the injured player.

Sorry if too harsh, but this might come in handy. This is national pride we're talking about. Put aside the politics. Consider this some form of police power by the SBP.

How the hell is Kobe stinking up the joint for this many consecutive games? I've never seen a stretch quite like this.

Honestly? I think he just lost interest.

In retrospect, Kobe has never been a serious baller. He was more sensitive about his image as a celebrity than an athlete.

I’m done tbh. Kobe’s priority isn’t basketball and it’s starting to be apparent day by day.

And the same could be said about Ricci Rivero. Shame. OK sila talent-wise, e. Too bad they got distracted.

UP has a LOADED depth chart this coming UAAP season.

Guards: Abadiano (5'10"), Gonzales (5'11"), Cansino (6'2"), Rivero (6'1"), Fortea (6'0"), Alonzo Tan (5'7"), De Joya (6'2"), Brix Ramos (6'3"), Calimag (6'3"), Spencer (6'4"), AJ Madrigal, Harold Alarcon

Forwards: Webb (6'3"), Torculas (6'4"), Eusebio (6'4"), Catapusan (6'4") Lina (6'5"), Tamayo (6'8")

Bigs: Gob (6'6"), Diouf (6'11")

Not lacking in size. Hope that can translate to wins, and ability to compete against Ateneo.

Hopefully Catapusan and Lina could be developed into 3/4 players.

From these guys, I think Torculas, Eusebio, and Cansino might be useful. Of course, Tamayo's already in the Gilas pool. Spencer might be a good call-up as well.

If Monteverde could give Lina the same training as Tamayo (as in, give him combo forward skills), Lina could be another good addition in the pool.

I hope Tab is considering some of the UP players. He might need talent.

I disagree. I only agree with the nietos but Go and Navarro can be given serious consideration for the 11th and 12th spot. I disagree that thirdy should be given a spot, but i agree that he is given more rep than Kobe and the Gomez bros.

Well, both Go and Navarro have the size, skills and intelligence. They can be magic hugots perfect for the 11th and 12th spots of Gilas team.

2years staying at UP is very critical. Tamayo could end up like ian sangalang (pba style of play) if he would stay in college for 5years.

I don't think he would end up like Sangalang. Tamayo has a different mentality, at least basketball-wise. He's performed better for Gilas, too.

But, yeah I say again, I hope Tamayo stays in UP for 2 years, max, then try his luck abroad.

He is being compared to RDO. A not farfetched comparison. Although, I will say RDO is the better shooter so far compared to Tamayo's current Level.

Tamayo is taller and have the potential to be more versatile though.

They are both tough and physical.

Carl is a nice asset for the National Team.

I hope his former NU Juniors Partner Kevin Quiambao will be part of Gilas soon too. But looks like there is a slim chance of that happening.

Yeah, I hope we can get Quiambao to the lineup too, at least to help in his development. Make the pitch to La Salle that he will be better after the Gilas stint, or training camp. Tamayo became a legit tweener forward, maybe the same outcome can be had for Quiambao.

Other Lasalistas on my wishlist are Policarpio, Hontiveros, and Nelle. However, looks like the most likely would be Policarpio, as in his case, Gilas would have to talk to Delta Pineda, not La Salle.

Another forward in my wishlist are Justin Arana, who might have potential to be a Baltazar lite. Hope Gilas are considering him as well.
