My point was, it's not a one-man system. It was at least always a duo (in championship-winning years). And in the 2010 game 7 finals example...it was a 3rd banana Artest and other guys that did the damage...same with Horry and Fisher in many iconic playoff games.
MJ and Kobe just happens to be goats that they can win games by themselves if you let them. Same with Brownlee.
If anything, no one stepped up to replace the production of Kai (the other half of the duo).

If only KQ can carryover this kind of performance in the FIBA game. I think Strong Group Athletics team head coach Charles Tiu was able to utilize KQ in that tournament in Dubai which Strong Group faced pro teams from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt. But for KQ to play this well in Gilas uniform, coach Tim has to give KQ ample playing time & scoring opportunities.
Maybe coach Tim can develop KQ into a catch-and-shoot 3-pt shooter where KQ takes most of his 3pt shots from the wing areas.

I saw this game. This game was won in the 2nd half. PHL led by double digits in the 1st Half but Hur Jae was unstoppable in the 2nd. Korea had like a 20 point swing in the 2nd to win comfortably.
PBA half baked this roster. Before the AG, the PBA stipulated that whoever wins the PBA All-Filipino Championship, that team will be sent to Hiroshima because "CHEMISTRY".
SMB eventually won the AFC , but their lineup consisted of stiff Dong Polistico, and overaged Mon Fernandez and uncoordinated Alvin Teng. The PBA brass admitted to their hubris and folly and drafted 3 Purefoods guys ( Alvin P, Jerry and Rey Evenagelista). Also, they drafted amatuers Duremdez, Aquino and Cariaso to reinforce the team. Hector Calma withdrew because of injury and was replaced by Johhny A.
So that leaves only 5 SMB guys, the rest are bunot from PF, Alaska and college ranks. The plan for "Team Chemistry" was set aside because a champion PBA team in itself cannot beat an NT in the caliber of Japan, China, Korea or even Kazakstan.
if PBA had the foresight. They could have players in their prime: Benjie, Asaytono, Meneses, Lastimosa, Alvarez, Limpot, Locsin, Bal, etc. in this lineup, but no.

I very much remember this game as well. Ito yung game where I & my basketball addict college classmates had to skip our exams in a major subject just to watch this game. Caidic was really on fire in the 1st half of this game as he drilled one 3pt shot after another on a near flawless shooting. It really looked like RP team is going to win this game over the South Koreans. But the Koreans made the necessary adjustments & turned the tables down in the 2nd half to beat the Phi team by 7 pts. While we were a bit frustrated with the loss, we really cant help but be awed by Caidic's 3pt shooting. Even the Koreans were tapping Caidic's shoulders after the game as a gesture of admiration.
About your last sentence, I think Patrimonio, Codinera & Rey Evangelista were lent by Purefoods to the RP team only becoz of an incentive that Purefoods was already qualified for the 1994 Third Conference or Governors Cup. Johnny Abarrientos was lent by Alaska without any incentive. For the likes of Meneses, Asaytono, Paras, Limpot, Jolas, Magsanoc to be on that 1994 Asian Games RP team, PBA needed to postpone its 3rd Conference.

I was wondering why they did not choose World Balance. The brand has been the outfitter of Ginebra and AFC loves Ginebra so much. Ginebra is part of the SMC umbrella which now has the say on Gilas operations.

Adidas is a global brand, and as such, has more to offer to SBP than any local compnay.
AFAIK, its not the SBP who's going to pay the kit supplier, I think the Adidas is going to pay SBP for its Pilipinas Jersey needs. Adidas is really a Kit Sponsor, which is more than just a kit supplier

Those nike gilas jerseys were so uninspired and templated, the only thing that would distinguish pur jerdy from the dominican republic and taiwan was the color shading!

We’re lucky that gilas didnt go the SMB route, who just recently signed a deal with Delta ( which also supplies kits for UST, another SMC affiliate for now)

If Calvin Oftana doesn't find his shooting in the coming 2025 Asia Cup, that would be very very frustrating. He's shooting like a prime Allan Caidic with TnT in the PBA yet he couldn't carryover even a sprinkle of that shooting with Gilas in the FIBA game. And Gilas badly needs his shooting.

So banchero and Hodge are now local Fiba eligible after they finished more than 10 years of residency in the Philippines.. out of two, Hodge should be in consideration for a spot in Gilas.. we are salivating Mike Philips as local but he has to stay here for atleast 10 years to be local in Fiba.. So for short team (atleast 3-5 years) Hodge could be consider for Gilas under tim cone.. we badly need rebounding, hustle and energy that the current roster lacks.. every team needs like Hodge in the team... And Gilas is also in same trajectory for it...

CTC get Japeth, Troy in Gilas.. it is also a band aid solution.. right? Hodge might have more contribution if he will inserted.. we need like him in a Gilas set up.. he's not just for rebounds, he can defend in every position, he solidified the mantra "PUSO" plays in every ball possession.. he's also good in their EASL stint with meralco.. so why not try? CTC priorities PBA players for Gilas then I hope they give hodge a shot.. he will be the preview of what Mike Philips will give to Gilas once he will be eligible.. An Energizer... We benefit a lot of what Pingris and Abueva (in 2015) brings for Gilas in the past.. after that we badly missed those rare kind of players that give us energy on the court.. Honestly, the current roster of Gilas are most non chalant type (in Tagalog pa conyo).. we don't have player/s who can go all out every possession.. If the lead is already huge for opponents then we tender to surrender early even it's not..

like i said before.. we should not get deceived on pba players performance that makes people think it will translate to NT..
we saw it one too many times and people still fall from it..
