Now, we have 6'7" Carl Tamayo in the current Gilas team, who also isn't that athletic. Difference is, Carl can shoot (although his percentages in the KBL so far don't reflect that), and he can play the 4 in FIBA, which is pretty OK for his size.

you mean FIBA-Asia only, he is undersized in FIBA Worlds...

The significant difference between Arana & Tamayo is that Arana is a natural center while Tamayo is a natural four. Tamayo's 3pt shooting may not be that impressive as of now but I think what's impressive about Carl is that he handles the ball very well. Yung ball handling ni Carl is that of a small forward.

If only Arana is 2 inches taller, I think he would be a perfect successor to Junmar.

I have been watching Tamayo's ballhandling in the KBL. His ballhandling from the backcourt is okay, but his one-on-one dribble drives to the basket is very turnover prone, or ends up hoisting an awkward shot. Well maybe someday he will perfect his dribble drive skills.

In my opinion Arana is a smaller and less athletic version of Chanatip Jakrawan of Thailand although I would see he is much stronger and has better footwork than Jakrawan.

Carl will be okay in the Worlds. He is wily, strong and has good footwork. If his three point shooting will be consistent, his laterals and ball handling improved, Tamayo will be a dependable modern FIBA stretch four. Andres Nociono and Gabriel Deck of Argentina acquitted themselves well in the FIBA Worlds despite being 6'7 and 6'6 respectively.

Thing with Arana is, he's a 6'7" player who almost exclusively plays center. He's not exactly a high-level rim protector for a center, he can't really defend the perimeter despite being only 6'7", and I think his range is only around 18 feet.

In my defense, I just commented on the roles the players sir lurklurk listed. But, I don't think Arana should be considered unless he can at least play the 4.

Will be hard for him to displace any of the young bigs and abai.. like we're set for at least a decade..

As for 3 possible additionals, i'll go with SJ, BRP jr., heading and QMB

BTW there' is simple principle to note here , one cannot use an approval of others as basis for justification that there case should be approved as well. Why is this ? Cause each case is uniquely different, we don't really know all the details of each specific case .
in the case of Harris his case does not have any factors know that would disqualify him from an exception. He has residency and Domestic league play ( however short). FIBA guidelines has no minimum requirements for residency or domestic play. ( So he's not disqualified for exception), Clarkson on the other had is indeed disqualified for exception based on the primary basis for exception.

Learn about jurisprudence

Again it's all about influence rather than common sense or fairness

Is jurisprudence used in FIBA rulings?

That's why at 6'8,CTC has no qualms to put him as the backup SF,he starts his offense at the perimeter or above the shaded lane,it creates space, specially if he's scoring.

The pinoy nt will need a modified set of players for the nz homecourt game. I am sure corey webster and his friends will serve a wonderful home cooking game. They already invited pinoy fans to see how they cook there.

It would be nice to disappoint them by sending a tougher team to chew on. Extra power bigs and extra snipers are on the menu.

Alec Stockton looking like a viable replacement for the aging Chris Newsome right now.

Expectations : Balti, Heading, Abando, etc...

Reality : Tolentino, Ahamnisi, Cu

To be honest since Chua mentioned he is looking for 2 to 3 players my guess is he is eyeing Rhenz Abando, QMB and even Troy Rosario since he is already with Ginebra

That's if QMB and Abando joins the draft... About Troy, he is inconsistent in Fiba games although let's see if he will fit under Cone in FIBA.. let's give Troy his time to learn CTC system in Ginebra before joining Gilas ..

Not Troy again,Navarro come on now.

Yeah. If only Stockton will get a FIBA exception soon. I really want to see him in Gilas jersey so as he gets tested if he can carryover his PBA game to the FIBA game. He needs to be tested in a higher level game if he really possesses the right stuff.

Well, I've seen some games of Ramon "El Presidente" Fern

AFC did cite Scottie and Edu/Japeth as examples so maybe QMB and a guard most likely.
