Sbp/cone should take a look on harper jr and boogie ellis as NP. We should get ineligible as NP like those 2.

Are we going for Harper Jr with the hopes that his brother Dylan would join us eventually? Or Ron would be a perfect fit for Gilas?

It may be a bit expensive to have several needed naturalized players readily available for tournaments. The sbp should really try to get additional funding to get at least two foreign born players for nt formation purposes. The pba actually got it right that high-caliber candidate players can be examined or tested in pba wars first. The naturalization process is also too tedious. All the fan favorite naturalization candidates are not national security threats or pose serious harm. Most of them, like those in the pba, look like disciplined guys who can keep a good job.

or get the ph-based ineligibles to play like stephen holt, mike phillips, QMB

I think once FIBA classify players like Mike Philips and QMB as "Naturalized", then re-classification to "Local" is harder or not even permitted anymore. We all want to play them as locals and reserve the Naturalize spot to somebody like AB, JB or JC.

That's why sayang si Gilas Women's Vanessa De Jesus, we cannot play her as local and naturalized somebody that plays center or someone that is legit WNBA material.

Please fact check me, as i hope im wrong. C-Stan is forever here, and yet not classified as local. Sayang talaga. He held the Naturalized spot back then 2016-2019, right?

Next year’s basketball event in SEA Games in Thailand, I’ll expect the host organising committee will be strict on its rules on allowing the criteria of part-ASEAN heritage players to play for participating teams…

CS, pringle were tag as naturalized by FIBA.. SBP tried to apply to make CS and pringle as fiba local but FIBA says NO.. because of the criteria that was posted months ago and also in FIBA site..

i can see SBP will try to make onoh as local and de Jesus as NP.. coach pat can include kayla padilla in the future

It's when JB, June Mar, and Newsome retire that we'll have something to worry about. I feel they're kinda close to retirement.

JB, shot creation, go-to guy, defense at 3/4, playmaking. Newsome, perimeter defense and guard play. June Mar, big man.

For next year's Asia Cup, I won't rule out the possibility of Jordan Clarkson playing instead of Brownlee.

I say Junemar and Newsome still has 3 more years left in their tank. I can see them playing till the 2027 FIBA WCQ.

If JC's gonna play, we will need AJ and Kai to be there. At least a good interior defender. In addition, we need Oftana, Malonzo, and Quiambao to be good on defense, at least contest shots and stop dribble penetration. Carl has to improve defensively too, at least in help and in switches.

Yeah. If we're serious about competing, we need those guys available.

Playing against Australia is never easy. They are the main stumbling block to the title.

I think coach Tim Cone is just too sold out on JB that he would prefer JB over a Jordan Clarkson. Coach Tim would always consider the familiarity & chemistry factors in choosing a naturalized player. U know what I'm implying.

Problem is JB will be 37 next year and if CTC is still insistent on him as our NP then that could spoil our chances.

I say, the SBP should be ready to phone in JC in case JB gets injured.

get a younger ineligible as NP. (harper jr. and boogie ellis)

Ron Harper Jr. may probably receive a call for next year’s SEA Games to play as local. If Bangkok organising committee won’t use FIBA rule of passport by 16 instead consider passport by 18. Then Ron Jr. is eligible as I believe he secured his passport at age 18.

JJ Mandaquit got his passport before reaching 16 but I doubt he will make himself available for Gilas. My take is that he will stay put at least 2 Olympic or World Championship qualifying cycles hoping a call from US Basketball. If upon reaching age 25 no signs of that call. That’s then he may make his allegiance with Philippines.

Because SBP didn't lobby his status.. Cstand is already qualify for exemption.. but you know why they didn't do that.. that means he can finally play Asian leagues (especially bleague) as asian import... SBP, alongside PBA avoiding that scenario... the only way they will lobby a guy for exemption is that player will not leave the country (PBA)

SBP lobbied CS but fiba said NO. It's not the asian import thing. They lobbied him around before or during his rookie year in PBA. Theirs link for that

Maybe that was pre pandemic who SBP lobby his status.. Cstand just started his playing years in the PBA in 2018.. that means that time Cstand didn't meet the eligibility requirements for exemption yet.. I think now he has a chance already since he has already 6 years of playing in the Philippines... If we based the previous exemption for Newsome and Greg, both already here more than 10 years here in the Philippines...

Did CS study in RP? Yes? If not still NO.. newsome study in ateneo for 2-3 years. Same as greg.

SBP can use Justin Young of Vietnam, Brandon Jawato of Indonesia, Tyler Lamb, Moses Morgan and Frederick Lish of Thailand as those cases.. All of them didn't study in their respective countries.. They just stay for a longer period of time in their countries, played in their domestic leagues prior to exemption... and they have connections to their respective countries such as they have residential address to their countries and connections to their federation and their main league (That is according to FIBA eligibility rulebook).. But we all know it's too late because Cstand's playing years is nearing his prime years.. Better use it to much younger players...

It's in the fiba rule book. Don't force things.
