Are Amos and Quiambao available for November window? UAAP season is still on going that time...

Ill just assume that chua, by virtue of being the smc sports director, has some pull in dlsu (since a certain faction of smc supports dlsu, while another supports ust)

i may be wrong, but historically, UAAP has been lenient with letting players play for flag. it's if the school allows them that there could be a push back.

Well, if KQ will be unavailable in November then that's fine... We have players in the current roster can replace him....

Sir Giannis,

yup

I think Mason is a sureball because he is still red-shirting, hoping "walang sumpong" the Green mgmt.

who knows maybe they could tap the 31 yr. old Scuba who suddenly becomes eligible hehehehe

just clowning around

DLSU will probably let Amos play. due to the new ruling, he will be sitting out 2 years before he can play. extra games should be good for him.

DLSU allows KQ to play in meaningless (and dangerous) barangay games. I will be extremely shocked if they don't allow Amos to play for the National Team. It's a no brainer in terms of development.

How many years Amos will serving residency at LaSalle?

Sir C2,

bossing, honestly I am not totally sold on that "2 year thing".

for Mason's level it's an OA..it's corny

maybe to those low tier to mid-tier guys I will not react

starting 2027 Mason Amos should consider turning pro instead.

a season at the Green's backyard is fair enough for him.

This is rough for him, just go pro already at this point, we are essentially wasting a Gilas prospect. SBP should step in no?

^ I think the new ruling is that, only 1 year of residency is required, but 2 playing years will be deducted.

I think there should be an exemption for transferring players who did not even get to be rostered/play. Guys like Alao, Demisana (correct me if I'm wrong). The players looking for a better fit are being punished while there's really no punishment on a team (they lose a player they don't seem to want) that hoards. The penalty should be more on the team/school rather than the player.

for players like Stockton and Winston who do not have yet the international competition experience i think SEA games is enough to gauge them than rushing them into a tougher level of competition

Well, it depends on what player eligibility rule will be applied in the 2025 & 2027 editions of SEA Games basketball. If it would be the same rule as in last year's SEA Games in Cambodia, then most likely the level of competition would be good. But if its the FIBA rule of player eligibility is applied, then I expect a low level competition. PBA level of game would still be better. If FIBA rule is applied I expect only Thailand & Indonesia who could come up with respectable rosters, the rest of the teams would be very weak.

Eh kahit nga yung Thailand having Lamb, Licsh & Morgan in its roster wasn't that competitive in last year's Asian Games eh. Thailand got massacred by Jordan by 34 pts in last year's Asian Games. Thailand can't even beat Bahrain in the tournament. I think Indonesia is better if it plays with a complete roster with Jawato, DMX, & its naturalized player. Question is, will those players be available during the SEA Games.

Guys, if for instance Zav Lucero is FIBA eligible & you have to choose only one between him & Jamie Malonzo for Gilas, who would it be?

Tough question, i think if Zav transitions more as a 3 and D player then ill choose him. His size is abit awkward for a pure big man on FIBA level.

For me, Lucero is slightly more skilled & has better control of the ball compared to Malonzo. But I think Malonzo is more athletic & quicker than Lucero. Also, I feel Malonzo can play the 3 spot better than Lucero. In a deliberate half court game, Lucero is the better player, but in an up tempo ball game, Malonzo is the better player.

I'll pick Malonzo over Lucero for Gilas.

I'll go for a high motor athletic player like Flores or Lopez to replace Malonzo. Btw is Navarro out for contention as a possible replacement?

Can Flores play the 3 spot?
Do U think Francis Lopez' perimeter defense is good enough for him to play the 3 spot? At this point, I think in terms of 3-pt shooting, Malonzo is better than Lopez, although Lopez being around 6 years younger than Malonzo can mean Lopez' 3-pt shooting may improve to match or even overtake that of the Malonzo.

As to your question whether Navarro may be tapped by coach Tim ro replace the injured Malonzo in the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup window qualifiers in November, how I wish it will happen. But knowing coach Tim Cone, the chance is slim.

I feel SBP must seriously examine its strategy for long term or continuity of a national team program that would go beyond 2027 or 2028. Continuity or sustainability is a must.

As we all know, coach Tim Cone is opting for a small national pool so as to easily establish & maintain cohesion & chemistry among the players. If this is the case then we would need a cadet or a developmental team/pool so as to prepare the younger players (players in their early to mid-20's) for future Gilas senior team stints. Because if coach Tim sticks to his philosophy of maintaining just a small pool of national players (14 to 15 players only) & we don't have a cadet/developmental team, then how do we prepare our younger national team prospects that would replace ageing players of our current Gilas team? If we look at our current Gilas team, we have a good No. of old or ageing players who inevitably would be retired from national team service in 2 years time.

Guys like Junmar, Newsome, Justin Brownlee are expected to retire from national team service 2 years from now. Then guys like CJ Perez & Iskati Thompson likewise aren't getting any younger that I don't expect them to be around for the national team beyond 2027 or 2028.

With these things in mind, how do we prepare the likes of Francis Lopez, Rhenz Abando, Alex Konov, Caelum Harris, Mark Belmonte, Jonel Policarpio, Will Navarro, Schonny Winston, Alec Stockton, Jacob Bayla, SJ Belangel, etc. for their future national team stints if they aren't part of the current Gilas pool/team of coach Tim & neither is there a cadet/developmental team for them to get exposure in international or FIBA basketball?

To add to this, the Triangle system that the team uses takes a while to truly master. In the event that new players have to be inserted, it will save a lot of time if they already have started learning it beforehand.

Has anyone watching the FIBA Intercontinental tournament. Al Riyaldi just won vs Africa champions Petro de Luanda. I hope we can compete in thus tournament.

Just don't understand the rule on eligibility, correct me if I am wrong Unija has 10 players who are not Spain citizens. That's just a big advantage to be allowed to have too many imports compare to others who have 3.
