2022 schedule for fiba windows is already released

With the pandemic still raging on and likely raging next year, chances that everything will be rescheduled is high.

Lately, a GS player who was vaccinated still tested positive with COVID. This means that vaccines do not guarantee 100% protection but it likely will help making syptoms less severe.

This pandemic will likely last a decade or more.

Anyway, Kai for sure have his own nutritionist, and weight expert ( or whatever u called it)

I hopr Kai will be in bubble next week or next next week. He needs to be able to adapt to the system.

I feel Kai, Dwight, and maybe Kouame will and should be the main scorers in thid window fot gilas.

Korea will be a tough opponent. This is the first true test on where is gilas now.

A terrible lost will show that the cadets still lacks experience and development. ( Itvwill be useful in future though)

Losing to korea by a narrow margin, or Winning on both games against them, in the other hand will solidify the program of taking cadets instead of pba.

This is Tab’s proof of concept. It s one way of saying we dont need the pba. If and only if they win against korea. Just 1 win is enough.

Tab may be able to get away with that in the tournament next month. As for the bigger ones ,perhaps not. The best ones will always be in the PBA so long as it exists. Tab can keep on recruiting the best amateurs, only to lose them to the PBA after a couple of years. He has to rethink things, IMO

The problem is, how will the PBA cooperate with the national team program? The problem is, based on the scheduling and the way some teams are holding out their players, has always been getting their cooperation. That's why there's a Gilas draft and an all-amateur national team.

We need to send our most promising players to leagues which are friendly to the FIBA calendar, at least for major tournaments. That is, if the PBA wouldn't even give the bare minimum of support.

Right now pba is supporting through special draftees. Technically pba players pa rin sila. Because of scheduling.

But come 2023, duebto hosting. Obviously pba and other basketball leagues in the philippines will stop, in favor of Fiba World Cup 2023

In that time, the fear of some posters here is for pba to disrupt the gilas program by lending last hugot pba players.

Will Coach tab declined those players in the pool? And if they are in the pool, will coach tab not picked them because they are last time "hugot"

Anyway, SBP and Coach Tab will decide that

i am confident some pba players will play on certain windows. if it means only players from mvp teams, so be it.

He became one of the rare people who is fully vaccinated and still tested positive for COVID-19.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said last month that less than 6,000 people have contracted the coronavirus after receiving both doses of a vaccine, or about 0.007% of those who have been vaccinated, out of what over 200M?.The COVID virus will just be like the flu,you will get booster shot every year. You have the right to wear the mask 24/7 inside and outside and not get the vaccine if you want. You can't be afraid to venture outside,or do the normal things. We have been living and surving the flu virus with a yearly vaccine with an efficacy of 65%,while the leading Covid vaccines were somewhere 70-94%. Compared to the 2019-2020 flu season, for example, the CDC estimated that more than 38 million became sick with influenza, leading to 400,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths. That’s slightly lower than the 2018-2019 season (34,200 deaths) and significantly less than the 2017-2018 season (61,000 deaths).

SMC Gilas worthy players are either ineligibles or past their primes anyway.

TNT - Parks, Pogoy, Troy, Erram

Nlex - Kiefer

Meralco - ???? ( I cannot think of anyone)

Phoenix - Wright, Chua

Most probably these are some pba players that will play on some tournaments with cadets if they are available and no pba sched.

I am willing to bet that in 2023 final 12, there will be 4-5 Pba Players ( not including special draftees)

Cadets: Kai, AJ, Baltazar, Dwight, Tamayo may be the cadets who will make the lineup

It is actually near. It is only 2 years left.

We should prepare for it now.

And these consecutive tourneys will help

.

if eligible sana, newsome could provide us size and defense at d pg position.

i would like to see first how they will perform from june to august before identifying which positions need reinforcements and if there are pba players that could potentially address such gaps/weaknesses.

Revisiting the Pba Gilas Special Draft

Because Pba players cannot be lend in the 3rd window because of conflict in pba schedule, pba is only helping Gilas thru the special draft.
Players drafted in special draft are "technically pba players loaned to the gilas program".

If I am not mistaken, these special draftees cannot play for their pba team unless SBP and Coach Tab released them from the program.( Correct me if I am wrong about this)

PBA GILAS SPECIAL DRAFTEES

A. First Batch ( 2019)

1. Isaac Go
2. Rey Suerte
3. Matt Nieto
4 Allyn Bulanadi
5. Mike Nieto

B. Second Batch (2020)

6. Jordan Heading
7. Will Navarro
8. Tzaddy Rangel
9. Jaydee Tungcab

C. Third Batch (2021)

D. Fourth Batch (2022)

If the program will be continued in the next 2 years, there will be another 2 sets of special draftees.

Some of our cadets would probably go play and train abroad ( hopefully). But majority of them would probably be a part of the next 2 batches of pba gilas special draft.

Players like Dwight, Baltazar, Tamayo may be a part of the next special drafts.

For me, ok na tong tulong ng pba. Rather than lending veteran pba players with 10 days left preperation.

let tamayo study and play a few seasons first for UP.

It will also depends who will be the 1st pick next draft.. If Blackwater manage to get the 1st pick next year then i will expect Baltazar will might go PBA thru regular draft.. Just like Oftana...

on paper, terrafirma has more talent than blackwater so that is a strong probability. unless, terrafirma will out-tanked BW.

Sure.

I actually even prefer more for him to follow kobe paras path. 1 and done with up. Then go overseas.

If not, then yeah, uaap then probably special draft.

Tamayo can do what he wants but if for example he performs well for Gilas and a good D1 school offers full ride and everything. I hope he takes it.

Exactly. The only players under SMC that are even remotely good enough for Gilas are as follows: CJ Perez, Terrence Romeo, Stanley Pringle, Christian Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar, June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Calvin Abueva, LA Tenorio, and probably Scottie Thompson and Paul Lee.

Of the ones I mentioned, only Perez, Terrence, Pringle, Standhardinger, Abueva, and probably Scottie and Lee fit the current Gilas timeline and are still good enough. And two of them are ineligible. Plus, of those eligible, only Perez, Abueva, and Terrence can be remotely considered irreplaceable.

Perez and Terrence have a shot.

Abueva? No chance.

TBH it's only Perez who fits the current Gilas mold though Chot would have loved TR and Lee. If Tab wants a PBA PG, it probably would be Kiefer and Bolick who gets the call.

If Jordan Clarkson plays for Gilas in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, I bet PBA will offer its players for Gilas service & I agree with you, around 4 to 5 PBA players (excluding the special draftees) will make it to the Gilas 12-man roster.

As I've said several times, PBA still wants to have a place in the Gilas bandwagon, specially with Clarkson in tow. PBA still wants relevance with the FIBA game.

The main question as far as 2023 roster, is how much of MVP followed by his assigned director Tab will have a say of final roster.
if it's All and company with the PBA making the calls, then who knows were that goes..
