Tamayo's there. So I guess he's a go for the Qualifiers. AJ is already out. JB is still questionable at this point. I think TC said Malonzo will be back in 10 days IRC. It's weird that TC is confident that JB can play in the Qualifiers despite a sanction hanging over his head. Maybe Al Chua/SBP is doing something in the background?

Perhaps coach Tim & SBP expect that the the suspension FIBA meted against Broenlee is only about 3 months & it started early October hence by early February, Brownlee would be cleared to play.

If Brownlee won't be cleared by FIBA for the 1st window Asia Cup qualifiers, I expect coach Tim to tap Standhardinger as Gilas naturalized player. Standhardinger has familiarity with coach Tim's system on his side plus he has already played/practiced with the likes of Junmar, Perez, Newsome, Oftana in last year's SEA Games.

CStand's already retired, though.

Ange Kouame's our other NP. He's had familiarity with June Mar, Scottie, Perez, Newsome, and Oftana, as well as with Dwight, Carl, Kai, and AJ.

Please use english in your post or translate your post to english thank you

If this window is really easy, can we do it without an NP?

Hong Kong is very easy opponent… Taiwan is beatable even we don’t have Brownlee… Junmar can limit Artino, since the latter's game is more on inside, Junmar can handle it, and Kai is secondary defender… Taiwan has no other bigs after Artino,

I just hope with this Gilas 4-year cycle under coach Tim Cone, Gilas can have training camp & gets international basketball stint during the period mid-June, July & August. Our B-league & KBL boys will be available by that time becoz it is the off season of those pro leagues. Also our college boys will also be available by that period. I don't expect our PBA players will be available during that period but I think we can easily have as many as 18 players from the B-league, KBL & collegiate basketball.

Guys like Kai, AJ Edu, Dwight, Tamayo, Thirdy, Kiefer, RJ Abarrientos, Abando, Miguel Oczon, Gutang, Belangel, Heading, Baltazar, Quiambao, Amos, Lopez, Cansino, Escamis, Mark Belmonte, Policarpio, etc.

This February window is not too much important in terms of capability of opponents… we all know our opponents are Hong Kong and Taipei, we always arguing before that 2-3 weeks is enough especially that HK is very weak… kahit siguro walang practice vs HK eh mananalo tayo because our superior talent against them… while against Taiwan, they are much better team than HK.. but we are confident we will beat them.. no need to win big against them… The point here eh he is already looking at 2027 WC… Kumbaga unofficially eh nag peprepare na tayo sa 2027 na dapat ganito na nung 2023 palang.. Yung OQT eh magiging part nalang ng preparations for 2027… so it means expected that we will not take OQT seriously… atleast the core 12 is already known at di na tayo mag guguhol pa when 2027 WC is approaching.. by 2027, they are ripe now atleast upsetting some European teams and finally making into 2nd round or qualifying for 2028 Olympics as best Asian team..

CTC already said, he requested total of 7 days prep time per qualifying window and 10days for actual tournaments. regardless of window, regardless of opponent. thats fine if you have a cohesive team, and whoever the reserve players are, have more or less same chemistry or atleast understanding of the coaches gameplan. thats what more organized basketball nation do. but we arent there yet. you keep focusing on THIS coming window. ive not seen any of our fellow posters pushing the panic button on HK or Taiwan. there are doubts, sure, critics will never go away. but noone is really bothered for this upcoming window.

whenever there is time that both PBA and the other leagues are on a break with no FIBA games, im pretty sure CTC will cook something up. all the previous coaches have done that. not only is it good team wise (for chemistry) its also a good marketing tool for SBP. when and against who, abangan.

tim cone handling young players? good luck.. i already gave up him handling even as young as kieffer alas..

TC was known for developing bigs. Guys like Poch Juinio and Sonny Thoss. He’s also known to put them in roles of facilitator on offense. Guys like Bong Hawkins and IRC Pingris.

He likes to use tall guys as SF. Sometimes successfully like DeVance and sometimes not, like Limpot in the Centennial team. IRC he played Malonzo as SF in the recent semis.

TC likes playing tall ball and putting tall players in decision making situations on offense. With the right personnel I would like to see if he can make it work in Fiba.

To be fair he gave Scottie, Malonzo, Tolentino, Mariano and Ferrer minutes, though they're not exactly young when they entered the PBA

If he can't develop young players, then it doesn't bode well for Philippine basketball that he is our national team head coach for the next 4 years.

I'm confident that coach Tim will learn how to develop young talents in the national team. There's always room for improvement. Coach Tim was able to develop guys like Jeff Cariaso, Poch Juinio, Rodney Santos, Sonny Thoss, Chris Bolado who were then young when they played under him at Alaska.

I feel, there's no better time to do it than during the mid-June, July to August period. Unfortunately, PBA season most likely would be ongoing during that period.

Bball vloggers taking the 12-man core concept way too literally. Some lamenting that players like Abando and Heading are shut out from Gilas for the next 4 years. SMH.
