If the SBP just files his case next year or 2025, for sure exempted yun. But he may take a big pay check overseas, that's the problem...

That's good for him and that shouldn't be a problem on his offseason or his club lets him play for Gilas.

My suggestion for B league is to amend their eligibility rules to
passport plus 5 years Philippine residency and must be under 30. does not apply to FIBA local eligible players .

But let's be honest unpaid taxes wasn't really what SbP / PBA officials were complaining about , these illegal recruiters statements were made when press conferences were done with accusation of poaching, very clear what they were voicing opposition about

The PBA made it illegal to be a PBA* agent if you arent registered in the Philippines. That personally makes sense. Of course the catalyst was Dickel recruiting for Japan but other agents also have clients in Japan and they can work with the PBA.

the different leagues do have their discretion on regulation policies to remain competitive, what is obvious is the PBA is reactionary , and definitely the timing of those changes in policy ( Philippine registered agent) were done obviously in response to the Japan exodus. Being simply reactionary , i believe PBA will always be in the back foot , as the B- league can always change their eligibility rules in response to PBA changes in policy.

But ultimately this isn't about what the PBA is entitled to do, but the real problem is the the federation ( SBP) who's mandate is to improve the national team, including availability of eligible players, should not have stakeholders / leaders who are gate/ approvers for who to be made eligible have interest in the PBA , this is super conflict of interest. as their decisions are made not for the betterment of the national team , but the self interest of the companies they represent belonging to the PBA, this is super messed up.

The problem is everything in PH basketball is conflict of interest. That problem is way beyond the PBA. I mean one of the things MVP did once he took over the SBP was send Slaughter to Ateneo using Gilas as an excuse. And we both know my Tab example for conflict of interest.

While true. a very fundamental step to minimize this , is simply who runs the federation, i mean it's super basic principle of governance, (e.g. the secretary or minister of Energy can't be the the CEO of Meralco . c'mon. i mean just in terms of time , how the heck should one be allowed to be part timing as the minister of energy.

i actually don't have a problem if Eala or Chua are the head of SBP , personalites aside they are really basketball executives ( full time) regardless of who they favor in conglomerates. but you can't have the leaders of conglomerate to littitally be the leaders and board of the SBP , this is totally insane

So begs the question who doesn't get invited into the pool anymore as it doesn't serve the interest of SBP decision makers ?

Bolick, Greg and Wright are said to be blacklisted by the PBA and SBP.

If we win Gold....Long hair will get a different vibe here.
He is a factor on and off the court. Off court his management skills. On court, you can see it clearly that every time a player goes back to the bench...Long hair talks to them and motivates them even if they had a bad game (e.g. Alas on vs Iran).

Long hair = winning at all cost and great motivator.
How the hell did Chot get the motivational coach career? Players give up on games with Chot. Even Cone gave up the game vs China but players still NSD.

Hopefully, he can plan on how we can compete in 2025 and 2027. This will need a long-term project.

And building teams for international play are different from building teams for the PBA. Still, with the way he built Ginebra and assembled this team, he might have a chance. We just need younger players.

Actually our Asiad success is a testament to the Ginerbra core of manager, coach , star player and PG having a long time together for many games. It's actually the same principle as success of other national teams.

Even the PBA, that's how they classified Fil-Foreign. Under the PBA rule, any player who born in the Philippines is considered as a local as long as one of his parents is a Filipino citizen at the time he was born.( JAYSON CASTRO WILLIAM) And you'll be classified as a Fi-Foreigner by the PBA, if you were born outside the Philippines doesn't matter if your parents are both Filipino citizen at the time you were born.(JIMMY ALAPAG)

at the end of the day, the president of the federation should be someone who is 1.) a philippine basketball aficionado, 2.) a person who loves the country and 3.) a person who will have a very good relationship with the PBA, UAAP, NCAA, MPBL, etc... that is the perfect person for the job...

To be a credited agent in FIBa you have clearance from SBP. Like any business that want to be accredited needs to have SeC/DTI and BIR registration. Did they submit it? Because that will be vital docs if a case will be filed.

If they didn't get a creditation, then its a risk for a player

imo its all business now, noli eala is the closest thing that he can also do business jargon of the job..Imo if smc will handle the national team it will be much simple organization structure..

Actually almost everybody naman knows what to do to have a real competitive Gilas team in the next 4 to 5 years. It really doesn't take a genius to come up with a plan. Its just that if you are the SBP, you plan & work things that are within the interest of Philippine basketball stakeholders like the PBA (especially SMC empire), the UAAP, NCAA, etc. To simply put it, you can't do things that are against the interest of a stakeholder.

Its like, madali lang maglakad sa isang field. But walking along a field with some landmines, that's a very different story. U must know how to sidestep some landmines.

And that's the real challenge.

The biggest contribution of tab isn't the wins imo, its that he was able to send Filipino guys abroad thru his connections. And pba will not die on that as evident in the asiad finals(its liek an extension of a pba) imaghine teh 2 best players in asaid are playing in bayan ng superstars hehe

That's honestly a worry of mine. Baka naman, this Asiad final will have the management thinking, let's go with a lot of PBA players next window, age notwithstanding. I don't have anything against the players, it's just that a lot of our most capable PBA players are 30 and above. We put too many aging guys there, it's roster turnover after roster turnover after roster turnover. Goal should be to prepare for 2025, and then 2027.

I don't know if it's overblown, but that's what I think.
