Sir,

Maybe the Corporate Guy had little idea about those lads or just waiting for the right time for Kai and Mike..as for AK34 he is already ripe for exemption.

You're the head of the SBP & you have little idea about Philipps, Balungay & Kouame?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: An averaged IBNer here seems more familiar with those guys.

Well, I hope that the corporate guy is just waiting for the right time for those guys to be ripe for FIBA exemption.

They are afraid that if they file for exemption for them, They will leave the country and play for Japan, Korea, Australia, etc... as professionals.... Look at the past rookie draft, The top picks are mostly ineligible.. It means they don't have to be worry that they will leave... That's plain and simple....

Why woold a executive of a business seek exception to be a FIBA local? That woold risk losing them.to b league and accepting $$ , to the dismay of his teams his business owns ( PBA teams ), see how conflict of interest it is, and how messed up.

Sir,

Except for some PBA games, I haven't seen even the shadow of his tuxedo watching a NCAA so far..oppsss!! UAAP will commence tomorrow it seems that he seldom watch college games since graduating from his alma mater ADMU mentored by one of his motivating person in the basketball world that keeps him always on his toe and his name is Thomas Anthony Baldwin.

LOL the only advantage of Chot is he has a lot of experience in the international games. He still suck BIG TIME.

Well, Chot's the best from the PBA. If he's the best, and no other PBA coach is as capable as him, I think we should be looking OUTSIDE the PBA for coaching options.

To the UAAP where the Pinoy coaches are also used to FIBA style of play and officiating, i suppose?

i suggest the bald champion college coach with a "Win" suffixed to his name. Yes, the one from Katipunan.

Need to get the coach out of Katipunan first, just to avoid the piracy allegations. If not him, Jeff Napa and Charles Tiu could suffice.

Imagine if the people running the PBA wasnt so mentally handicapped that they gave some leeway for Sedrick Barefield (26 y/o) to join last year's draft he would have been in the country for more than a year now and it would be so much easier to get him that FIBA exemption to play as a local for our national team

It's not just residency to get exception (otherwise all Japanese resident imports will get exempted). But residency should commence ideally as a minor pr teenager. ( essentially your college years from 18 should be in the country

Yes, the formative years should be in the Philippines - either high school or college.

having a team b, that could have started training months ago would have helped, so done with the sbp/pba ad-hoc roster building.

Hoops Highlights had this video a few weeks ago:

He'd have a Team A, Team B, then two youth teams as well, and lineups change on who's available and who's getting better and/or worse.

And, he'd have a system on offense.

Defense really was the difference maker between PInoy-mentored RP teams & foreign-mentored RP team.
I remember even the Rajko Toroman-mentored Gilas-1, natatalo rin ang team na yun but they seldom lose by a big margin. Hindi natatambakan ang team na yun. The same could be said about Tab Baldwin-mentored RP teams.

The opposing team may be outshooting your team but if U play decent defense you'll be able to stay in the game, keep it close until the dying mins./seconds, and who knows, will have a very good chance of stealing the game.

We were 10th in defense in the past World Cup, and we had a really good defense in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, and the August and November 2022 windows. I think we might need to build on our defense, then add shooting, both keys to winning in the international game.

We do have good defensive Filipino coaches. Topex Robinson, Goldwin Monteverde, Chito Victolero, and Jeff Napa. Actually, I feel we have more competent defensive local coaches than offensive ones. On offense, it's just Charles Tiu, Aldin Ayo, and maybe Jamike Jarin.

I think we can credit the defense to Edu. Dwight and even Malonzo and minimal JF minutes. Kai also helped.

Kouame was the anchor of Ateneo and Gilas teams that punched above their weight internationally. The fact that he could only play 10 minutes against a Jordan team he is familiar with means he is far from his peak form. Maybe he is holding off surgery to get that Euro contract but if he continues to underperform Im not sure if he can get that contract.

JF was able to defend the paint in WC. The drop defense was effective because of our guards able to fight of the screen better. Which Oftana and Perez were not good at last night. Thats why even the defense strategy the same the personnel and focus was not.

I will comment on the plays only. The offense with the twirl is ok if we have a shooter that has quick release. Even Dwight, can he score on against 6'7 like Jeff, Jimmy or Allan C. Teams will just switch this move , again can our player make a play on in against tall opponents. Even just an entry pass to the paint is difficult

Between Mbala & Kouame, for those who had seen them play. Who is a better player?

I think Kouame. Basically if you swap Kouame and Mbala in those teams that overachieved they wouldnt have won. Its more of a positional need for us. We need centers more than forwards.
