i think its the pba that should buy mpbl..this will have them the best division 2 league and a platform fo them if they want to go home and away..

or perhaps the other way around. MPBL buying the PBA... well as of this writing, MPBL is unofficially PBA's division 2 league already. But once MPBL increases the offer sheet to players (let's say one or two independent teams --- ROS, Converge --- gets tired of PBA's parity issues and moves to the MPBL, and the rest of the league and some wealthy PH companies follow suit), that's the start of PBA's demise. MVP and SMC can rot in the PBA with their farm teams.

As the country's Olympic authority,I can't fathom why Bambol and POC don't intervene and recognize the fact that PBA as a league is lagging behind Asian neighbors. And why they are ignoring the importance of ensuring our professional league/s are catering the growth of the athletes in the country's no. 1 sport?

PBA is just flat out banal. They lack competence, creativity and vision to make the league progressive.

Playing abroad should be a temporary solution until the PBA institutes the necessary reform. However, it will take a massive overhaul which will take years. Need someone who has enough guts to institute the necessary changes to make the PBA more competitive in Asian basketball, better-adjusted to FIBA tournaments, and more attractive to 19-22yo players.

fate of the PBA is in the hands of our youth players. No one in the PBA can change the system but the players. Once ALL the premiere talents decide PBA is not for them, and PBA only gets 2nd-class Filipino talent (already happening now), PBA will be defunct sooner or later.

If the new owners will invest in better players,coaches,making it more enjoyable to watch than the PBA then they will be successful.A two conference league that runs at around 4 mos each,with a second conference an invitational or no height limit imporst and also get some Asian imports,it will make it more interesting.In short everything that the PBA hates to do,do it.

They can leverage those, and convince the PBA team owners or the PBA as a collective, to buy out Manny's ownership of the MPBL, lock, stock and barrel. PBA can use MPBL as some sort of Div 2, or a TRUE developmental league.

That would be a great opportunity to test out the promotion-relegation system like B. League's even if exclusively only within the MPBL level (there's just no way PBA team and their hundred-million peso fees and annual expenses would subject to such arrangement, is there?), or a multi-tiered minor league system for promoting-demoting players like MLB's.

I think that title was his for the last decade or so. Of course we all wish he was more than that.

We can only imagine what could have been if only SMC loaned him to Tab's 2015 Asia Cup team. He could have helped Gilas earned that Asian 2016 Olympic slot.

Zhou v Junemar was a missed opportunity.

That would have been a low-post dogfight.

I think Zhou Qi is out of the Asian Games roster becoz of injury. I think China is a bit fragile without Zhou & a naturalized player. Still, I don't want to face host China in the quarterfinals. Mahirap na mabiktima ng Lutong Macao

Junemar anchoring the triangle in the strong post side and Brownlee in the pinch post area are things that no one would have expected to happen if asked just a few months ago.

Well we don't really have any other contenders ATM? The other big men brings something different to the table aside from post scoring. I think he's also our best rebounder? The problem is on the side of the court where he is probably the 2nd worst big on defence. We give him too many minutes, the other teams wil take advantage.

I believe that AJ Edu is slightly better than Junmar in rebounding.

You're right that on the defensive side, Junmar gives up something significant because he isn't mobile enough to defend the PnR or chase the opposing team's center in the perimeter but wala na rin tayong choice since both AJ Edu & Kai are not available.

It’s easier said than done.

One of my many wishlist moving forward is to get an exemption for Ange Koume and hopefully someone from the stakeholders had an idea to somehow facilitate the naturalization paper for Malik Diouf and hopefully the big guy may accept the offer considering he literally grow up here as a student athlete playing from one varsity school to another, played in several off-season domestic leagues along the way. Imagine having AK34-Diouf-Kai-AJ alternating for the 4 and 5 spots for the road going to the next cylcle of WC 2027 up to 2031 that could somehow fill-up our usual problem at the frontcourt. now to solidify even more, we need guys who are versatile enough to switch from 3 to 4 and from time to time the 5 spots.

Hoping the National Federation of the Sports SBP would somehow adhere to the clamor once and for all and establish the genuine long term preparation to avoid the usual cramming party they are notoriously known for. ​

I just hope that SBP makes an effort to exempt Ange Kouame, Mike Philips and Kai Ballungay and show some interest to Okongwu. With Dwight Ramos, Rhenz Abando, Calvin Oftana, Jamie Malonzo, RJ Abarrientos, Robert Bolick, Gilas will have a more formidable team up to 2027.​

You're right that on the defensive side, Junmar gives up something significant because he isn't mobile enough to defend the PnR or chase the opposing team's center in the perimeter but wala na rin tayong choice since both AJ Edu & Kai are not available.

He needs to add more strength. Right now Junemar is our strongest big which helps in establishing position and pushing people out of theirs.

Kai might be slightly better or worse defender depending on the matchup. I'd honestly prefer a Kouame / Aj pairing at this point unless Kai improves significantly on that end. He cannot even rebound with consistency

Another option for Philippines is to tap naturalised players from its collegiate ranks some foreign players like Malick Diouf coud be a good candidate. I gathered that he is living in the country since 2016 (or good for 7 years)…. We could source some NPs from this strand… He could even a good candidate for FIBA exemption if ever he is naturalised as he started to reside in Philippines when he reached 16 years of age…

I know some purists will react to this idea but come on we now living in globalised era… Even hoop superpower USA will take the same route just to bolster their roster as they are trying to lure Embiid…

Naturalised players from third world country especially from African continent should be accorded with “hardship relief” privilege as such they can play as local in PBA…
