Philippines Senior National Team Thread Vol. V

We need a coach who can properly execute a 5-out motion offense system.

And translate Pinoy hustle to intense defense. Can make life difficult for opponents, and can make timely rotations and contests. Focus on switchable players at 3 and 4 as well. Even 5 if they're not the same size as June Mar, Kai, and AJ (who is switchable).

After this one, everyone in an executive position in the SBP should be gone. Hay, nako.

Chot, thanks for the memories, but it's time to say goodbye after this.

We need to rebuild. Like Sikatrix had said, after this, resources should be diverted to the youth programs.

Wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking.

I'm allowed to dream, man.

I'm really happy that the FIFA Women's WC came first, though. At least the Malditas gave us an enjoyable moment with the win over NZ. Plus, the management of that team is astute. I just wish that for our men's NT.

Im waiting for the smb fans to swamp in. Ctc and core smb teams to represent!

I hope that they bring coach Rajko Toroman again plus his cohorts. For me, SBP, under after MVP left, is a huge mess. I don't like the people of MVP (Al Panlilio, Butch Aquino, Chot and Josh Reyes, Sonny Barrios and Ricky Vargas). TBH, only Tab and maybe Jong are the most likeable in that group.

add Tim Cone as likeable

Pangilinan's been the only decent SBP head since the organization was founded. Man.

If you label cynics and constructive criticism as 'haters' then you deserve everything that Chot and his program showcases to you. Banban 3rd world basketball and being overtaken by Japan sure is a joy to watch huh
Now you realize that we have a legit reason to be cynical. This crap ain't cutting it.

I have little faith in SMC committing to a rebuild, which we really need after this. Baka naman, they'll just find a way to get their players there, plus a couple of older PBA reinforcements.

That said, I do hope they can take Rajko. Maybe he can be the one to start the rebuild. Plus, get into tourneys with Cone and a young local coaching staff. Of course we have Charles. Then we have the likes of Goldwin and Napa.

it sucks that we have the generational talent that could lead us to the olympics but it was wasted by the greed of the pba and chot reyes’ ego.
We need a leadership change from top to bottom. Someone who embraces the exodus and sees the players' availability due to schedule, treats the PBA as just another contributor, and focuses our resources on youth development.

Maybe wishful thinking, but after we've suffered for so long, give us some joy as Filipino basketball fans.

We're in luck. Goorjian will be almost out of contract. This is his last tourney in the contract.

he knows how to keep his mouth shut and been in and out of the country for more than a year, aside from being familiar with local basketball, he has also taken a liking on our culture

if only bcap and sbp are not blinded by false nationalism

Julio Lamas
Rajko Toroman
Brian Goorjan
Andrej Lemanis
Paul Henare
Nestor Garcia
Ruben Magnano

Any reports on their coaching styles?

I know Rajko's offense, and then Goorjian's emphasis on ball movement and versatility. Garcia's fast pace with DR too.

Here's a post from Gilas Pilipinas Army: https://www.facebook.com/GilasArmy/posts/pfbid0b53FtecVVzEzZcQd8qDo3orcBb5g2m9Mc9RZC2U4JR1P CnEJH7hYwEEPnubszdN4l

"Funny u want SMC to takeover. sila din naman ang nasa BCAP. "

They also commented: "The same people na nabutt hurt dahil sa tactically immature n comment, the same people na hindi naniniwala sa foreign coaches, the same people na nagpaphiram ng players 10days before the tournament, the same people na naniniwalang PBA is still the best league. LMAO."

I totally agree with this sentiment. Plus, their player development has something to be desired. I don't see willingness from them to sponsor overseas development for players, and I don't see them shifting to youth development. Not really gonna commit to a rebuild, e.
