I am also curious why Parks was not included. The problem with Parks is he is brittle. It may only take one physical play for him to check out mentally for the whole game. Without him and Oftana, Newsome has a stronger possibility as a smallish wing.

Kiefer had a blah statline as expected, 1 pts 1 rbs 1 ast in 11 minutes. He was also plus 11. It seems Chot trusts him more at PG than CJ. But let's see in the next tuneups. Do we expect Montenegro and Mexico to be better teams?

Oh Vuc is in Montenegro. Vuc is both an outside and inside threat IRC. He's just 34.9 3FG last year but I dont think that would be a problem in the shorter Fiba line.

Parks' issue would probably be priorities...miss na miss eh Hahahaha
DR is the best example of "One bigman away" Team. W/o KAT they're Puerto rico level with him around they can beat anybody (outside of USA) esp with Jokic,Porzingis and Giannis out.

based on what i read from quinito , he will play against Montenegro

Because Perez is not a PG. Sure he'll have his moments but he'll also commit a lot of mistakes. Even Kiefer is a converted pg but at least he has a high BBIQ

If U look at Perez' decision making & passing, its not really within the level of a legit point guard. I think Chris Newsome is even a better passer than Perez. U can see in Perez' game that he looks to shoot than to pass. That's becoz he has played as a wingman (a shooting guard/off-guard) for almost his entire playing career. Perhaps if Perez started playing as a point guard or a combo guard when he was 23 or 24, then his decision making, orchestration & passing would be significantly better.

His consistency is also a question mark. With Parks kasi, U will never know what kind of Parks will show in a particular game. No doubt about it, when Parks' game is in sync, he is an asset to his team, but when he's not. He is useless. I hope to see the 2022 Asia Cup version of Parks in the World Cup. That is if makes it to the final 12-man roster.

Worst case scenario in the Gilas final 12-man roster: Pogoy & Thirdy Ravena make it while Parks & Abando don't.

Choke will be crucified by the fans. But then again, his skin is so thick it won't matter anyway.

Hopefully CJ will have a better showing tonight. Newsome is a good ball handler and defender but is a bad 3 pt shooter.

for a country devoid of height and a generation exposed to curry and nowitzki, i still dont get why we dont prioritize shooting.

And for a generation exposed to bigs like Bam Adebayo and Draymond Green, and also I don't get why we don't produce more 6'5"-6'8" bigs who can defend the perimeter, and still more bigs who can't defend the perimeter like Paolo Javillonar, Beau Belga, and the like.

With Iskati Thompson back, Perez can slide to his natural position which is the 2-guard, so I expect Perez to play well now.

I think the perfect wing player to partner with Clarkson is Rayray Parks since Parks doesn't have the go-to-guy mentality & is more than willing to take a backseat in scoring & would just be content on facilitating & being a kickout option from the 3-pt zone. When Clarkson heads the bench, then that would be the time to field a go-to-guy type of a player like CJ Perez.

Newsome's 3-pt shooting may be suspect but his medium range pull up jumper is money. It was in full display during the recent SEA Games. But as experts have said, the medium range shooting is a lost art in modern basketball.

I see a dangerous Chinese Taipei team in about 2 years time. They are solid in the guard & wing positions. 6-foot-3 Benson Lin is a very skilled combo guard & is still young. 6-foot-2 Abassi is a solid shooting guard with good skills & athleticism. Then you got the Hinton brothers who are really promising. Taiwan's weakness however is in the big men positions.

But we have the likes of Abando, Pogoy, Thirdy, and used to have the likes of Meneses, Duremdes, Paul Alvarez, Jolas, James Yap, Cyrus Baguio, Dondon Hontiveros - 6'1-6'3 shooting guards. These guys may not be as athletic as the Dominicans but may be at par with the Mexicans.

Telling that our homegrown players are just at par with the East Asians are downright insulting to these guys.

My dream shooting guards: 6-foot-4 versions of Dondon Hontiveros & Marcio Lassiter. Dondon & Marcio were/are good shooters & good defenders as well. They are athletic as well.

My dream small forwards: 6-foot-6 Rayray Parks & 6-foot-7 Dwight Ramos.

I would have settled for both of them at 6'5,maybe the next generation will have a better version at least 6'6

They hire very good african imports in their collegiate leafues and might do a kouame route with them so..the big men problem might be resolves in years time maybe after artinos prime years

doesnt matter that much. even if any 2 combination is selected, their job is to shoot 3s (except thirdy). Pogoy will hit a 3 or 2 plus some defense. Abando will get his highlight block and probably shoot another 1 or 2 e3. Parks will do nothing but shoot 3 and might make more than the other 2 while if ever Thirdy gets in, we'll just see him in the face of some player for a few mins.

all good, i wish them luck but if you look at it overall, Pogoy, Parks, and Abando will do the same thing so it doesnt matter who gets picked. Thirdy hasnt played to his usual self the past few months and his lack of shooting really hurts his chances.

Yes Sir, probably they will maximize that exemption as per FIBA’s provision and eventually tag them as locals which will eventually resolve their problem in the 4 and 5 position.

Well as for our National Federation, were still hoping that AK34 may eventually granted depending on what’s on SBP’s bucket list.
