Noli Eala Podcast with Tab & De lano Brothers, starts @ 56:00

Starting at 1:22:31 it seems that the possible PBA guards that CTB wants to have are Kiefer, Roger Pogoy, CJ Perez - for possible immediate pull-up, i.e. MAY join for 10 day training and Matthew Wright for 1 month prep or less if he immediately gets the plays
and of course Thirdy from the B-League.

Those guys seems to he fair upgrades in the PG and combi guard positions for the fiba asia cup.

for both 2022 asian games and 2023 WC, my wish list for d PG position in order (for now):

1. k. ravena
2. nieto
3 juan GDL
4. dalph
5. sj
6. RJ
7. bolick

for SG:

1. clarkson
2. t. ravena
3. pogoy
4. perez
5. heading
6. suerte
7. bulanadi

i have ramos listed as my no.1 prospect at SF, baltazar at PF, and kai at center.

Cholo Anonuevo is playing in the current Smith League while our beloved Kobe Paras isn't. I could only wonder why.

BTW, among the sponsors of the Smith League are East West Private & Kai Sotto's Kaiju Academy.

He probably is not ready. The last time he played he did not look that he had perimeter skills at all. And if he were really serious with Gilas he could have played as SF like Balti, Tamayo and Navarro. US is a much higher level and he doesnt have the luxury of playing PF unlike in Gilas.

So you think this is more of a calculated move by Kobe not to join the Smith League to manage his confidence level? I mean, if he had joined the Smith League tapos hindi maging maganda and performance nya, he might once again loose some confidence in his game & might even lead to another depression.

Can someone here related to Gilas management if this is true? Gilas will participate in King Abdullah Cup in Jordan between July 25 - August 3... Teams will participate are Jordan, Tunisia, KSA, Gilas, Algeria and Egypt.. If this is true then this is a good tune up match before Asia Cup next month (Although it's unknown if this tournament will happened, I hope will continue).. We might see Kai Sotto vs Tunisian big man Salaj Mejri, And a possible rivals in the future between Kai vs Saudi's Mohammed Al Suwailem & Jordan's Ahmed Al-Dwairi...

waiting for local news outlets to announce this

Meanwhile, President of the Jordan Basketball Federation (JBF) Mohamed Alayyan told Jordan News that the Philippines have confirmed they will be attending King Abdullah Cup, which has been scheduled between July 25 and August 3.

So far, five teams have RSVPD for the tournament, alongside Jordan, including Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.

If playing basketball at this level is the root of his depression, then just walkaway from it.Kirkness wasn't happy playing basketball at the next level,so the solution walkaway,he might play it for fun in your local pickup game though. If he's more happier in the showbiz settings, then so be it,if he feels that basketball is not fun anymore, that it drains him more mentally then its time to look at the cards on your table and decide which card you have to discard.

Anyway wag natin mamaliitin Jordan in terms of their basketball program.. They are one of powerhouse in Asian basketball.. And basketball is their 2nd most popular sport after football.. So may suporta din sport na to in their country..

My only complaint with Jordan NT is they're outfitted with China made Quiodan, the blatant copy of Nike's Jordan Brand. I mean..WTF dude!

Wow,how much money did the Chinese shelled to get that contract? That's a good marketing strategy, specially the Middle East market.

And Jordan has a No. of promising young developmental players in its current NT. One of them is 6-foot-3 guard Freddie Ibrahim.

The current Jordan NT is a mix of veteran & developmental players.

Its like Jordan saying fu to MJ.. we are.the original owner of "Jordan" brand hihi

I just wondering China sports media doesn't see yet Kai and Kouame playing.. Their scouting reports to us is our guards are our first in line attack.. They didn't know that our guards are not so good compare before... hehehehhehehehehe!!!

They're relying on PBA style offense, plus the fact year in year out everytime they faced Gilas, its always the guards that lead the attack on the floor,I'm ok with that, that means the SFs and Centers will have shock value for Gilas.

Remember this Gilas iteration is still relatively new. They haven't competed in a major tournament outside the qualifiers. The guard-heavy offense pioneered by Chot goes as far back as 2005. It's going to take some before Tab's system becomes the de-facto style in the national team.

Just look at Korea. They made some changes here and there but they are still the same Korea that loves to move the ball to find an open three point shooter. They've used the same style since the 90s and it's kept them consistent. That's why when we hear "Korea", we already know we are facing a well organized team that loves to shoot outside shots.

Yeah, at least the Koreans keep that core principle of finding open shooters.

We on the other hand don't have a consistent basketball identity. I hope ours will be a physical but disciplined defense, and I hope Tab (and his successors) keeps the defensive identity in Gilas for good. The better we defend, the better chances of winning we have.

Speaking of defense, I watched a few FIBA Gilas games, specifically against SoKor in 2013, 2017, and 2021, and against Iran in 2015. I noticed that Gilas rotated well against SoKor in 2013 and 2021, and against Iran in 2015. Those teams never got comfortable getting shots off. On the other hand, the rotation against SoKor was pretty shoddy. As a result, that team got too comfortable , and started taking (and making) a lot of threes in the end (including more than a few wide-open shots). Guess which of these games we lost.

Yeah.. Much butter this:

SEAG - PBA select players
WC qualifying windows - PBA Cadet players (w/o Kai, AJ, Thirdy, etc)
FIBA Asia cup (If re-sched) - Tab Baldwin led Gilas team (Who played in ACQ & OQT plus maybe AJ)
Asian Games - Same as the third one...

I have the exact same view as to WC qualifying windows. We promote the other cadets to the senior team, since we're automatically qualified for the World Cup. Of course we try to win, but emphasis on development.

Yeah, in every window of the 2023 World Cup, we sneak in some of our younger cadets & maybe I should say non-shoo in players or players who are still very much in the development stage, in the roster like Lopez, Anonuevo, Panopio, Bulanadi, Belangel, Abando (if he's allowed by his college team).

When we talk kasi of shoo-ins we are referring to the likes of Kai, Dwight Ramos, Kouame, Balty, Tamayo, Thirdy, Matt Nieto.
