I research had the wrong line up eaelier.. this is U25 team of estonia. This is just friendlies. Hope we build more chemistry as we had too many turn overs.

Thats what we thought last 2014, we will get massacred by our opponents. Thankful didn't happen.

So I was right. We got defeated by a young team. Tabs 2021 team would surely defeat them. I think even without Kouame it would be close.

I just want to say Thank you to Kiefer, Thirdy, JF, Jap and Erram because they always answer the Gilas call but its time :D

Maybe. We lost to Jordan team twice and to a young Tunisian team under CTab. We lost to Serbia by 5 but lost big against DR. we all know Serbia is way better than DR.

I think we need better bigs. To me Balti can help at PF.

I think we need an upgrade in all depts esp with the coach Lol nothing we can do about that. But we really do need fresh legs like a M.Philipps,Balti,Heading,Koon,Kouame, Amos,Harris, Lopez and maybe even Jeremiah Gray to team up with Kai...i know they're ineligible now but maybe who knows in 3-4 years

thats half of the team lol, even carl tamayo can score against this estonians

They're just too old esp Jap and Junmar :D man it was heartbreaking to see how tough for both to even move on the court. Just save those playing years for the PBA hehe

First game and early on prep stage and some here are making comments like the time we lost big in our own friendlies in 2014. Settle down boys

Yes, this is team b tournament (team b of finland and estonia) but still better than asian teams (cause were already familiar to them).. get a feel of euro ball
next is finland that features the oldest us ncaa player Jacob Grandison

I thought B. League will hone them against tall players. What happen to that notion?

They were better options than the pba guards on this team, Thirdy was creating something from nothing and Ramps was his steady self as usual.

Regardless on who are playing for Estonia, this is still the senior team of Estonia. I assume that these guys are all above 20 years old - nothing different whenever Tall Blacks and Boomers send young guns to battle senior teams of Asia every qualifying windows.

Whoever these teams send in men's team are considered as part of their senior team, regardless of age.

Like a 19 year old Kai who first played in 2021 qualifying window and OQT, playing for these tournaments will make him part of the senior's team already. I don't care if he is only 19 that time. The point is he played for the men's team. Period.

My point? I don't care if Gilas faced a U-25 Estonian team. Regardless of whether these Estonians are in their 20's or 30's or even teenagers, these guys still are representing Estonia. Now, just play and grind it out.

Nope... Any European team is still strong... I remember even 2015 Gilas team w/ Tab also lose big time vs Estonia too.... So don't be overreacting... Actually this is the team who played most of their WC qualifiers...

I guess the bigger question is with just 2 months away from DR game, given what we know, can this team realistically compete at world stage and beat a team like China, in classfication round , i think it's leading to that, the China game will be the playoff game for the sole Asian Olympic qualifying spot

the game was close enough until the last 2 minutes that if Brownlee is not on his cramping self every after long lay off gilas can probably win the game, the killer was those plays they tried to give to junemar but resulted into to's the guy was rusty though he is just physically stronger than the Estonian bigs, is Edu not healthy enough to play ?

You can't blame some guys here for reacting this way. We are only 2 months away from the World Cup & it looks like we are still very much in the "developing cohesion" or "getting familiar with one another" stage. On the other hand, all the other teams out there (save for team USA) are almost in the finishing touches stage of their preparation.

I say coach Tab's Gilas team/pool in 2021 is a lot more cohesive than this coach Chot's Gilas team in Estonia.

to be accurate most teams only prepare 1 month before WC, but the huge difference is those teams have an established program and system, already know their core players and have repeatedly consistently been able to perform well with just 1 month prep. the huge concern with Gilas is this is simply not the case, no program , no system, no identified core players, much more who've played previously in the past. and the worst thing is this is a repeat scenario of previous showings , where 2 months from competition with no resemblance of all those pieces it is expected to have a different outcome, this is the definition of madness, do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result

Well, I consider Estonia, together with Norway, as a low-level European team. However, I say that Estonia can beat the majority of Asian teams. Finland is the mid-level European team but can surely beat the majority in Asia. Tall Blacks can challenge Finland while Australia can surely beat Finland.

Estonia is the team I invited for a pre world cup 2014 Tournament. Initially some thought bano sila, but they actually are good. In the 2014 Tournament I was involved in they beat Senegal and played a close game vs Argentina..

In that tournament Gilas didn't want to play Estonia, they opted for DR and Egypt

No identified core players, jeez. I dunno why that's the case when the core players should have been painfully obvious. Kai, Dwight, Parks, maybe others like Carl, Navarro, Malonzo, maybe Scottie.

The lack of a consistent system is a glaring issue too. Our system is just get whatever talented players available and get them to learn the system for a specific coach, and then learn another when another coach takes over. That's why I think building a good team identity is important, as that determines the system we should follow.

But then again, do SBP even care about team identity and system?

Ofcourse, Estonia is still good enough against LatAm, African and Asian teams. What I am talking about is that Estonia, relative to the level of competition in Europe, is really low-tier. Winning only 4 out of 17 games in a span of 2 years in Europe is really bad.

Europe has a surplus good teams.
