Philippines Senior National Team Thread Vol. V

  • Thread starter Thread starter IPC2
  • Start date Start date
When one is incapable of leading, and they recognize it, it's best to step down and that's the "malasakit" one can give

What's funny is that, apparently, CCR offered to "resign" to SBP after SEA games but SBP rejected it. Al then said that CCR was commendable and how the problems were Tab's fault and how CCR did not turn his back on his country. Panlilio maybe a good Business executive for MVP but he has no business running a Basketbal Federation. Can't believe that he put his friend/family chot and his pamangkin josh as Coaches in our National program. I hope in August 1 the majority of players in the meeting will call for his and Chot's head. Of course, fat chance but how i wish that would happen.

Let's say for argument sake we win over Lebanon in 4th window cause of the brilliance of Clarkson (hugot import) and new PBA hugots

It begs the question, then what was all cohesion development from 2020 to 2022 July for , ? ( Two and half years of fooling around with no whatsoever value for 2023), what kind of program is that? That's basically buying wins to be honest.
.

SBP bought their seat in WC 2023 at a
cost of over a biilion peso, do
you really believe they would think twice buying a couple of wins this window and consider development? They probably have two plans, first is to get those wins this window w/ Kai & JC to please the fans and take off some of that heat they're getting and secondly would be to drag our way to WC 2023 and minimize cost by letting SMC join the fray..the program is obviously far fom being ideal and they cant wait for their commitment to end and for SMc to takeover

It will be interesting to see what SMC will do if they indeed takeover. Let's hope they will have the NCC approach or at least give their PBA players a long prep for FIBA tourneys.

NCC approach was with Danding. Much more open-minded than the current SMC sports head, who's Boss Chua.

Id say expect more quality NPs candidates? and more ineligibles getting their passports at 9-12 years old Lol (Gray, B.Rosser, Munzon)

It would be really great if the SMC bloc somehow convinces the PBA board of governors to do either both or at least one of the following while they are in charge for who knows how long:
1. Revert back to the early-October to late-June/early-July league calendar
2. Have PBA regularly take season breaks parallel to the international break to accommodate the FIBA qualifying windows

That would be the silver lining with their takeover of SBP NT program, at least for me.

Well, we can legally do this under our existing citizenship laws. One of the effects of naturalization is that the children of a naturalized citizen born before his (parents) naturalization shall become Filipino citizens provided that they (children) permanently reside in the Philippines.

For instance, a Ukrainian family decides to come here in the Philippines to seek a better life. They have 3 children. After 5 or 10 years of stay, they became naturalized Filipino citizens. The effect of such naturalization is that their 3 children will also become Filipino citizens without further naturalization process provided that they continuously and permanently reside here.

They (children) can apply for a PH passport before reaching 16 y/o by virtue of such naturalization (parents).

While there is lobbying thru whatever channels to get an exception, make no mistake about it, there is a formal process with application fees to be filed to get an exception, and there is a formal official decision. And Clarkson has a denial negative decision. Let's not compare his case with others who are either yet to be filed or yet to arrive with a formal denial decision.

While there isn't an explicit scoring system to determine a pass mark of who should be granted exception or not, Let's not fool ourselves or be piliospo, of who are obviously not good cases for exception. It is clear you have to have a resemblance of domestic residency and local basketball heritage . Additionally consistent with common law on rights to citizenship the age of residency and granting of citizenship is critically important to a positive decision, the younger the better preferably as a minor
Note entnicity absolutely has nothing to do with it , of course relationship to a citizen parent does have merit (it just so happens normally a Filipino citizen parent is of similar Asian entnicity).
But a Filipino entnicity parent who is not a former citizen of the Philippines means nothing (absolutely nothing)

With this development bro, does this mean the appeal to FIBA to have Kouame get an exemption to play as a local for team Pilipinas has a very high chance of getting an approval? Maybe we just need to wait a little longer, say 2 to 3 years from now.

I wouldn't speculate on his chances , I would just say it is not zero.
On the other hand you pretty much can say Clarkson, Remy Martin who have zero residency and zero Pinoy basketball heritage is practically zero

SBP explore this one.

https://nz.basketball/bbnz-appoints-chelsea-lane-as-head-of-high-performance/

This is the type of person the SBP needs to be the program director, note it's not a head coaching role which is different function. The SBP is really amateur and unprofessional in practice., puro politics lang

Wala yan sa lolo ko:

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio bared what transpired during the time Tab Baldwin "stepped down" as Gilas Pilipinas head coach and why they had to reject Chot Reyes' resignation letter

https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/asp-the-predicament-that-we-are-in-today-is-because-of-tab/246261

Panlilio lied..

Something tells me the whole story was not disclosed.

Tab didn’t want to coach for one window and suddenly it becomes wrong?

Wasn’t it the SBP’s responsibility to ensure the player pool was available? Aren’t they the ones who do the talking to the stakeholders like the PBA and UAAP/NCAA?

Aside from this, Chot is exempt from having to skip a WCQ window after the SEA games debacle and come in 2 days before the Asia Cup.

Although Panlilio lied then How can Tab explain to us that why is it Ateneo is bigger to him than Gilas? Is UAAP championship is bigger than winning games in FIBA tournaments? Tab can create a team w/o any PBA reinforcements... He can tapped some of his players in Ateneo plus Gilas cadets and B League boys... Atleast 14 players he can name in 1st window of WC qualifiers and can still win vs India... No need to win vs NZL because aside that they are really strong for us, we are assured of qualification... Both camps usually have some misunderstanding here... If i were Tab, i will tell what is in my side in that issue...

Tab already said in a recent interview that he prides himself on being a professional and that SBP was hurtful and difficult to handle. He wouldn't say anything more about it, though.

Then why Tab can't do that last 1st window? He can arrange his Ateneo duties after the 1st window... Besides his team already have chemistry to win a UAAP championship... Something wrong here... I see both camps have mutual disagreement in each other... Al Panlilio lied here but Tab somehow has mistakes here too... FIBA games is 100x more bigger than UAAP championships....

I remember Lovejonas posts before and he said that Tab was dealing with his brother's death and needed time to grieve. I don't know all the details though and I don't know if it is true also.

But why he resigned in the first place? That is the biggest question... Unless He was fired, No discussion here that Tab was fired as Gilas coach and Project director.... It seems Panlilio and Tab have mutual disagreement in each other... Eto naman si MVP eh di pumagitna and cool this things off... He's the one who can manage this things... He's the president and founder of SBP...

We really need transparency from both sides, though Panlilio's defending Choke too much tells me a few things about how terrible he is as SBP president. Imagine rejecting Chot's resignation if it is true. It would have been SBP's way out from the SEA games debacle.

Panlilio went OA when tab asks for a break for one window..

All the more reason to believe he doesn’t like Tab and was looking for an opportunity to oust him.

Question is, why? Is it because Tab leans right politically?

Politic beliefs? Anti Vax? I dont think those are the reasons. I still think he advocates exploring ones opportunities beyond the PBA. Among the 2021 squad, let see who went abroad and or have signed to play outside : Ramos, Balti, Heading, Javi ( since returned), RJ, SJ, Will... that's 7 out of the 12. and that's not counting Lopez who is supposed to go pro via OTE, Thirdy who played in the Jordan tour, and Carino, 1GDL and Kobe who were part of the pool at one point. Kai and Ange are different stories.

Tab's prodding probably doesnt sit well with Dinosaur Vargas and probably with MVP himself. and the PBA board for that matter. Al being a yes man, of course will follow suit.

That's why i'm telling here that SBP is the real problem here... biktima lang talaga si Chot, He wants to resign pala then they reject it... San utak tong si Panlilio? They putting Chot as their Toy machine na ginagawa nilang laruan.... Chot is already happy as only TNT head coach w/o any pressure.... He's the one that should be out in SBP... Minalas Gilas when he was tapped as SBP chairman since 2016 (or 2017), no more good achievements aside that SEAG gold medal when he was in the position....

Well they needed a punching bag to take the heat off from them and Chot is the perfect guy. Heck he probably enjoys it. It didn't hurt that Chot can somewhat coach and is a very good tuta.
