NU and Adamson might also learn to counter Tab's offense by watching how UP defended. And, might take some tips from Tab on offense and defense. You learn by going against him.

As for La Salle, Manong is kinda stubborn in relying on his press. And their recruitment, just Fil-foreigners and Pinoy style. Guards and bigs, not much emphasis on tall and long wings.

Manong's defense was actually very good. It was his offense that was sometimes a rough watch.

I think the pandemic bungled SBPs finances. SBP does not seem to be the org that generates its own money oitside of ticket sales.

SBP was pretty much expecting to make a lot of monwy from ticket sales from the qualifiers, and with COVID still around, the ticket sales/"return of investment" from the WC might not really be much or maybe they'll just
breakeven

I guess we can just settle for Tab being in Ateneo than him being in another country coaching. Lol. At least he is training the young guns and hopefully elevating college basketball

With all the other countries lining up to obtain TAB's services if the SBP kicks him out for good, it's in SBP's interest to do everything they can to keep Tab here in PH long-term.

The reason PBA coaches are mad at Tab is because he bruised their egos. Kesehodang nasasapawan daw sila at ang mga local players. All I can say about that is: GIT GUD.

The same Tab Baldwin that wanted Kai Sotto to play in the Philippines and said it was better than the US or Europe? That guy? I think this is another case of giving Tab too much credit.

Where is Kai now with all the bungled decisions that his management made? At this point, it might have been best for his basketball development if he stayed with Ateneo becauae EWP appears to think he is an artista, not a basketball player.

Kai might have gotten offers from Japan, Korea or maybe even China if he stayed.

Kai was better off in the UAAP than the NBL? Seriously?

NBL is way better than Japan and Korea and probably better than the CBA. It is now consistently producing NBA talent.

Sometimes? Maybe the not-so-rough watches were in transition. But in the halfcourt, what an eyesore.

Thanks for the correction, though. His defense was good, and nearly sent us home last season.

I don't blame them. Not sure what happened with Kiefer's and RayRay's stints in the US (well, RayRay made a Summer League team, at least), but Kobe Paras's US stint was a disaster because he wanted to be more of a celebrity than a basketball player.

Not good enough, to be blunt.

EDIT: We don't really develop talent well so when top prospects try to go to top leagues like the G League, the difference in quality shows

But where is Kai now with all the decisions made by his management? They don't seem interested in letting him develop in the NBL either. They want to pimp him to the NBA as soon as they can.

He's better off being in actual games as much as he can - that's the only way he can get better and climb the ranks.

At this point with his management, he is being treated more as a model or artista which is stunting his development and does not do anything about his stamina.

Kiefer, Kobe and Rayray's "US stint" should not be an excuse for EWP to treat Kai.as an artista. Instead of encouraging him to get to NCAA or accept the offers in Europe, they opt to pimp him to the NBA as aoon as they can without thinking of his development.

In hindsight, anything beyond EWP is likely a better decision because we now see how they are not investing on his development, but more of cashing on his "fame"

The only thing left for Kobe is to create an OnlyFans account to put the icing on the cake.

Paging Arnold Van Opstal. lol

Sounds about right. Young Pinoy basketball player gets good enough to play overseas, hype him up for the "Pinoy Pride" fans, then milk his "fame" to death until the next big-time Pinoy prospect comes out. Rinse. Repeat.

Perhaps our local players now have the reputation for wanting to be in the big leagues only for the fame and not to actually play there.

99.9% of pinoys want Kai to be in the NBA ASAP. Sadly it looks like hell have to take a longer route but him holding his own in the NBL was encouraging.

True, but either only for the PINOY PRIDE (TM) or because they don't really understand what it takes for a basketball player to be in the NBA, let alone play a game there. Akala nila ganon lang kadali makapasok sa NBA.

That's the problem with his management. They are riding the "Pinoy pride" or Pinoybaiting bandwagon instead of heavily investing in his development so he could actually have higher chances in getting drafted

But they were more interested in Kaiju Academy and some commercial modeling.

And now, it's a question of they'll even get him to stick to the NBL to develop him game.

They think Kai's height alone will get him in the NBA. PBA, maybe...

Well, it's no surprise really.

Just look at our local point guards. Outside of Kiefer, who can really play the point? No one.

SJ only got better this year but he was very error prone last year.

Halos lahat ng mga guards sa pinas, puro wannabee Westbrooks and Steph Curries.

It's just... sad. Since Jayson Castro's departure, there hasn't been any local PG who is even close to his caliber, especially for a basketball nation known for producing PGs.

Everyone'a trying to be the flashy guard nowadays a la Harden and Curry

Facu Campazzo or Milos Teodosic na lang sana. Their passes are so basic that they look flashy. Court awareness and BBIQ are top tier.
