Philippines Senior National Team Thread Vol. V

Just for indonesia play game like this (and not anymore resorting to tanking) they might have a chance on making a case for fiba that they are already a top asian team although the top 8 finish is the best metric to measure success (unfortunately not the gold medal against a perennial top 5 ) asian national team in Philippines..

Imagine the prev Saudi game.. Kosasih looked like Junamr out there.. thats how far Indonesia have become..

If we don't perform well this FIBA Asia Cup, we might be in for another change of direction, and the SBP will try to justify it. I'm scared for the future of the national team.

At this point, I dunno if there is a clear direction.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^

I can't help but feel "panghihinayang" becoz everything seems to be falling in the right place last year, especially when we beat Korea twice & had that respectable loss vs. Serbia.

Then, all of the sudden this trying times so far this year. Its as if SBP threw everything in the window. Sayang talaga!

Meron Kai, Clarkson, Naturalize player Big 3.. rest are role players

yun ang niallakad nila eh

ah, ok. will wait how this goes. due to how things are going, im really not confident with whatever SBP and CCR is saying. not saying they are lying, but im just not confident that what they are saying has legs. good if it happens....

SBP people have been doing the lobby before FIBA to make Clarkson an eligible local player for 100 years na!!! (Of course this is just a hyperbole)

And yet FIBA has repeatedly ignored the appeal. Maybe FIBA will finally grant the SBP appeal when Clarkson is 60 years old!!!!

Unpopular Opinion: I hope it fails so it sends the SBP a message.

Develop your grassroots program instead of resorting to stop-gap solutions.

Besides, Clarkson is now 30 yrs old.

Here's a thing with Clarkson, he will only be willing to play for Gilas in major FIBA competitions like the World Cup or the Olympics (that is if we get too lucky to make it there). Hindi mo naman pweding paglaruin yan sa mga window qualifiers. He probably won't even play for Gilas in the Asia Cup. Therefore, between him & Kouame, I would rather have the latter getting a FIBA exemption rather than the former. Kouame is around 6 yrs younger & is much more available.

Was Clarkson ever invited to play in the Asia Cup or WCQ? The SBP fucked up if they didn’t and I wouldn’t be surprised.

Been wanting to put it out there as a hot take with the news of Malonzo suddenly being eligible after all these years: There goes our hopes of Clarkson becoming local. Of course just a theory on my part, but I feel like Clarkson getting local status is either getting stiff resistance from the competition or FIBA itself is erring on the side of caution and wouldn’t want to open a Pandora’s box. I mean, Clarkson is no Jawato. I think Malonzo and perhaps some more would serve as a pampalubag-loob because FIBA doesn’t wanna risk ruffling some feathers by granting Clarkson local status.

I think he will be conaidered from now on. I think it was SBP who inquired his eligibility after Chot got to talk to Orme.

The issue is theres no more asian championship, in asian games Clarkson can be fielded in the lineup (even Olympics pa nga)..

I thought Olympics follows Fiba eligibility rules? Diba Asian and SEA games lang who dont?

Chot/SBP just need a super scorer (Clarkson as local) and a dominant NP Big Man and Gilas is to go for the 2023 WC. The 2 players will make up for the non-existent plays and mediocre (not suited for FIBA) team mates.

I think SBP should apply for Brandon Ganuelas Rosser for an exemption this early to be a local player as his brother Mattew was part of the past national teams, it should be logical.
