I think his reach is comparable to that of a 6'4 player.

I have no data to reinforce that statement tho.

Abando ha potential to be a good defender but he has to get stronger and toughen up otherwise he will be picked defensively...Look at Ramos and even Kiefer , hindi na exploit defensively unlike kay RJ and Abando na ginatasan ni Heo...

While we need scorers they should at least can defend their man also...Otherwise its asequence you score , I score thing..

Defensively....
He is reed thin thats why he gets exploited defensively...While Thirdy stands almost the same height,6-3l6-3 he is physically imposing...Heading plays combo guard, thats the problem with Heading ,he is a exploited on defense also..

Like with RJ Abarrientos, while he can score lights out, nababawi lang sa defensive ly as his man scored on him...Same with Abando last night, he scoresbut cant defend Heo also....Hooe Abando gets stronger and out effort defensively....Yan ang problem sa mga over athletic though, they thought that defense is blocking shoot..But defense first and foremost is all about moving laterally and preventing straight line drives..

Abando should strengthen judiciously. He is the rare case of Pinoy player who didnt mucscle up but still retained his effectivity. Part of his effectivity as a shooter is his jumping ability and mobility. If he were to strengthen up it should be accompanied by improved ball handling. He is more of a 6'2 spotup shooter now. Strengthening will affect his vertical and mobility. It should be accompanied with skill to counter close outs and to even facilitate. Not an apples to apples comparison but Belo strengthened/builked up in the PBA. Changed his game to be more in the paint. He blew his knee. Hasn't been close to even his college level since.

Interesting that there is no statement from SBP, Panlileo nor Choke Reyes about the result of Gilas games in Korea.....ano kaya and sasabihin nila???....i think they are consulting everyone especially the PBA on their official sttement.

In the case of Belo kasi instead of getting lean to play his natural wing position,he was forced to play PF in the PBA....Seems like a second coming of Mac Baracael...For Abando, i did not say that he bulked up bit to get stronger, add some additional muscles..Sa pag laki kasi nina Belo, hindi muscle ang na add , just poundage or even fats....Parang kagaya kay Steph, he gained sone miscke but did nit lose his quickness and with the additional strength,he dont get bastardized defensively as before na reed thin sya...

PBA is actually losing on two fronts:

- They are losing future stars to overseas leagues; and
- They are losing their foothold to represent Gilas. The notion that the best players to represent the NT should come from the PBA is slowly being debunked.

Tab is right though.. pro players will represent us but not necessarily all from PBA..

Something is definitely going on behind the scenes. I remember Marcial telling the public a week or two ago that the PBA was not informed about the all-amateur lineup composition for this window.

I also read something from a fan that met Lister, and Lister apparently said that the Gilas results in both the Junior (U-16) and Senior (SEA games) were crap and that MVP was mad and wanted to fire them. I hope it's true, but it could be BS.

PBA and SBP have this wrong notion - when they say an all-pro team, it should be from PBA and/or NBA when there are hundreds of pro leagues across the globe.

Only a few PBA players should be considered. Those with FIBA potential, and those who have at least a decent track record. And should be clear upgrades or capable enough backup options.

to be clear, are we getting the PBA hugots because they will bring something to the table that'll improve the roster, or is this just a case of appeasement since the SBP can't do anything about it anyway?

If it's the former, then I'm all for it. Heck, if Coach Nenad actually thinks that we need this so-and-so PBA player then let him take his pick. But if they're just making concessions to make the PBA feel relevant again, then it's a huge gamble the cost of which is our performance in the WC. This might be our only chance in this decade to qualify for the Olympics and we might botch it by not fielding the best final 12 possible. Who gets left out if we accommodate the PBA players and are they really improvements of those cut from the team?

I'm raring to see another Perez-Bolick tandem in Gilas again, who's with me? I would pick them any day over RJ and SJ. Rj is a defensive liability IMO. RJ AND SJ ARE "KULANG" not world cup material.✌

FIBA potential PBA players are Kiefer, Oftana & Bolick.

CJ Perez is also FIBA potential but since he is from the shitty SMC evil group then lets forget about him.
I say no more Pogoy, Wright, Rosario, Erram for Gilas.

Perez & Bolick are ok with me for as long as they would spend ample time to train & play tune up games with Gilas leading to next year's World Cup. But if these players will be released by their respective teams to Gilas 2 weeks before the World Cup, then let's forget about it. Sisirain lang nila ang chemistry ng team.

if given a chance with those 4 are the remaining options , i'll go with CJ and RJ
RJs a dog , he doesnt need time to light it up from 3 while CJ can be converted into a defense oriented guard

As for bolick, he requires lot of touches in order to be productive which i think will be minimize since you already got options i.e Dwight, Kai, Naturalize,Balti, Tamayo
SJ for Reserve

Very good points bro.

I'm ok with 2 or 3 PBA reinforcements provided that these PBA players would train & play with Gilas for a considerable amount of time. But if these players are released by their PBA teams 2 or 3 weeks prior to the World Cup, then let's forget about that idea! They will just mess the chemistry of the team.
