not legally possible in the Philippines. you can only be naturalized not less than 21 years of age. thats in our law, so no going around it unless we change it.

i am actually confused with this. if its an exemption, it means even if we do the process again and again, it doesnt mean it should be allowed. if it will be allowed multiple times, then its not an exemption but a hole in the process.

we have a go around with our laws actually, recruit children 10-12 years old. make them culturally assimilated with us. by age 21, they can be naturalized.

our office handled a case before of a math genius who has been representing the country in intl competitions. Kid is born on the country from.immigabt chinese parents. Senator Pimentel authored the bill, but yeah, this could only happen as a act of congress

i beg to disagree. we also have judicial and administrative naturalization process. these should be the pathway of those kids.

thats not going around, you followed it by applying from his\her 21st bday. thats what SBP did with Ange though he moved in PH a bit later than what you posted.

oh, that's nice to hear, but for sure there would be certain sectors of society which will be against the naturalization of kid prospects makabayan ehem

oops so i guess only an act of congress could make naturalizing kids prospects possible, which involves too much political capital

we are not naturalizing kids. we are going to naturalized 21 years old persons who actually established residency here.

point taken, important thing is, the kids grew up here and learned/developed their skills in the country, which is a big plus for FIBA exemption

So Coach Chot DDO that won Jones Cup 2012 and defeated Team USA by Pick N Roll isn't really different. We upgraded in height.
LA Tenorio : RJ Abarrientos 6'0" (2.6-3PM)
Jeff Chan : Jordan Heading 6'3" (3.8-3PM)
Larry Fonacier : Dave Ildefonso 6'6" (2.0-3PM)
RDO : Carl Tamayo 6'9" (1.4-3PM)
Marcus Douthit : Ange Koaume 6'11" (0.5-3PM)

If i were New Zealand i would tap my Team A. ;)

My updated Gilas 12:
PG Dwight Ramos 6'5"
PG RJ Abarrientos 6'0"
PG Clint Escamis 6'0"
SG Jordan Heading 6'3"
SG Thirdy Ravena 6'4"
SF Dave Ildefonso 6'6"
SF Francis Lopez 6'6"
PF Justine Baltazar 6'9"
PF Carl Tamayo 6'9"
PF AJ Edu 6'11"
C Kai Sotto 7'4"
C Ange Koaume 6'11"

Clint Escamis over Dalph Panopio or Robert Bolick?

Yeah Escamis is an assistman like Panopio who is based in the states so i would take Escamis who has upside in blocking and defending. Abarrientos is a 3-pt shooter like Bolick but he is with the PBA and has baggage, we don't want that negative energy on the team because of karma.

Just in! According to Siomay Sayson Gilas coaching job was offered back to CTB but he'll only consider it if some personnel changes will be made to SBP.

Yep, aside from this, I really wonder who made him resign? An IBN poster here said it was Al and RG. Snow a day ago said that he's 100 percent sure it's not Al. Who's calling the shots really? SBP is a damn mess. Tsk tsk!

Until either side discloses anything, we can only speculate.

I would say it had to do with the exodus of young talents to the B. League and other foreign leagues. The PBA has always viewed Tab negatively, so they pressured the SBP to “undo” everything by making themselves relevant again. Everything goes back to the PBA. They have been the troublemakers of any NT program as far back as the NCC days.

Not sure I should buy the angle that the SBP wants a Filipino coach to call the shots in the world. Sounds weak IMO.

Hehe. Does it have to do with Al and RG?

I don't know but based on the tweet it implies the CTB is cautious about the job because of the backstabbing that happened to him. I would like to think that this person is someone he trusted and then betrayed him.

They reached out to Tab as per spin.ph folks. Not sure how that is developing.

Are they really sincere or is it because CCR doesn't really know how to coach a bunch of up and comers as the pros are mostly unavailable by that time?

Someone here once commented that they've been trying to set CTB up for failure and if that is indeed the case, then the timing of the offer is a bit sus. It's like when there are no pros available, they'll just use CTB. If he wins, they win. If he loses, they still win because it kind of proves their point that foreign coaches are just as fallible and justifies the appointment of a pinoy coach in the WC for next year. Personally, I would want to see how CCR & co. handle a mostly amateur unit, for educational purposes.

Probably this. They kinda know themselves that were going to lose big with Chot anyway so now they'll try to drag down Tab with him and shut up their haters. 2023 IMO is a lost cause already with how they f#cked up everything. There is no recovering from all the things they have done. We're going to get humiliated the only question is who would be foolish enough to volunteer to have their careers tarnished. I pity the players though cause I know they going to get bashed hard next year for things that are out of their control

Does this explain why they wanna bring in Tab without a long-term program?

If so, that's a shame. Back to band-aid solutions and stagnation, unless we can get someone who has the respect of all stakeholders, enough of it to actually implement the changes needed in the SBP and the NT programs.

Tab's team could have been a foundation for a long-term program for Gilas. One that develops players for FIBA play and maybe overseas careers, has a system fit for FIBA ball, and trains coaches to coach that specific system and gives them pointers in player development.
