Philippines Senior National Team Thread Vol. V

Bolden is one of Chot's naturalized player wishlist, but he was already taken by Indonesia... Also he names 6-foot-10 Noah Vonleh of the Brooklyn Nets and 7-footer Dakari Johnson of Oklahoma City Thunder.... So what will happen now to Kouame? For me that's ok because we need to have more naturalized player to choose for.. Is this two players are good? And those two can compliment to Kai and AJ as frontcourt partners?

typical Chot, looking for another Blatche to carry the team

reason why MPIC has few fans: overpriced public utilities (telecom/expressway/electricity) being represented by the team, though Shell didnt have that issue, maybe due to Paras' popularity

And MVP is associated with the term "oligarch". He will never ever capture the imagination of the Filipinos if he will hold on "for boys only/exclusivity" mentality. For as long as he will favor more his allies, friends and employees, Filipinos will not appreciate him.

You realize the set-up of the President of the country's federation is the top head of a conglomerate is in itself a super conflict of interest, and is actually disrespectul of the role , as Al is litterally just sidelining as SBP president from his main job as PLDT top exec.. this is so messed up.. obviously the way to success or make teams or get jobs is driven by politics with this set-up and really noting to do with what is beneficial for national team development (nothing).

Note the SBP is litteraly just a cost centre of the overall conglomerate, tell me that is not messed up

and that's the reason I am not in favor of SMC overtaking the leadership of SBP because it will be same except that you only put different persons from the rival company.

Jordan Clarkson was named by Coach Chot as our Naturalized Player in World Cup and I don't agree. Our Philippine team deserves the best team it can produce. Jordan Clarkson is a very good NBA player but Michael Jordan himself found it difficult to score in FIBA. Clarkson isn't a Michael but a shooter like Jordan Heading whom we can get without much trouble and has built-in chemistry with the Gilas team plus our current NP Ange Koaume who is doing a good job. Koaume cannot play with Kai Sotto is a load of bullshit. It's a mistaken opinion discombobulating our national team. We will have a formidable Asian and World Cup roster frontline with Kai Sotto 7'3", Ange Kouame 6'10", AJ Edu 6'10", Justine Baltazar 6'9" and Carl Tamayo 6'9". Then we have Jordan Heading 6'2", Dwight Ramos 6'5", Thirdy Ravena 6'4", RJ Abarrientos 5'11" and the rest is up to SBP. World Cup 2023 is Ange Koaume's reward and might as well replace him in Asia Cup if he doesn't get the World Cup gig because he won't be motivated to win.

What I'm saying is it isn't a sleight to Coach Chot's intelligence to continue what Coach Tab has done.

My updated Gilas 12:
PG Dwight Ramos 6'5"
PG RJ Abarrientos 6'0"
PG Clint Escamis 6'0"
SG Jordan Heading 6'3"
SG Thirdy Ravena 6'4"
SF Dave Ildefonso 6'6"
SF Francis Lopez 6'6"
PF Justine Baltazar 6'9"
PF Carl Tamayo 6'9"
PF AJ Edu 6'11"
C Kai Sotto 7'4"
C Ange Koaume 6'11"

Clint Escamis 6'0" i;m not familar with him, where does he play ?
Seen him a lot of in UE he is good as a defensive, rebounding and facilitator guard. decent size, but he's untested internationally. I will pick spencer over him but i guess we need an additional PG so i pick belangel.

and luckily, though SMC are run buy oligarchs (Cojuangcos, Ramon Ang), their products are staple for the everyman (Beer, Gin), heck we are the top consumers of alcoholic beverages in Asia Pacific

Kouame is good but he's not typical NP that can match up against other NP's of other countries, especially those have NBA experience... And we all know Chot's mantra of having NP is like typical PBA import that should be a dominating guy like Blatche...

CCR can do what he wants with team composition. he is the coach anyway. but that mantra wont work if he starts facing teams whose players are same or even better than whoever NP he will get. also, we will be changing admin. majority of this year will be building the gov and doing the budgeting for next year. thats on top of pandemic response and whatever the president elect would like to setup. so getting a new NP signed by congress will most likely happen next year at the earliest. tanong, if for some reason we are not able to the law signed on time, is Ange the backup? if he is, will CCR change whatever plans he has just so he can use Ange? that change if it happens would like be known later, so time to adjust will be very tight. as you said, he isnt the NP that fits CCRs mantra

Clarkson makes sense to be the NP if Ange will be given the exception as a local. That is a big if.

I would argue with that. I worked in Malaysia and Chinese-Malaysians usually eat out and drink beer as water, Malays less. In Thailand, it's a melting pot at Bangkok where they drink beer whereas there are far less foreigners in Manila. So I guess Chinese everywhere as course of habit, workers don't cook, they go out drink beer in China, Chinese-Taipei, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc. ;)

oops in this 2017 article, we are only top 9 in Asia with SKor, Viet and Thai as top consumers..thanks for the correction! But still, top 9 hehe

Marques Bolden 18pts 10reb 2blk vs June Mar Fajardo, Mo Tautuaa, and Troy Rosario. Is Ange Kouame better than them?

Well, i saw the videos of Noah Vonleh and Dakari Johnson, they are good actually... But i think Noah is better because he can compliment with Kai and AJ than Dakari... I'm not saying Noah is better player, but getting a NP should be fit by our players, especially our twin towers....

i have no problem with getting an NP, whoever the coach wants. just want to be realistic on probable timing of this can happening. 2Q of next year should be achievable if someone from congress start doing the paper works right after they do next years budget.
pero same prob, if it doesnt get signed on time, we will get stuck with Ange who doesnt seem to be a CCR player. should CCR tap ineligible as local players to form the NP pool? will he do this? only time will tell...

With Kouame there Bolden would not have scored that much. The Indo guys open during PNR would not have been open because Kouame is an excellent PNR defender. But you would need to play the long quick perimeter players like Lopez Navarro and Tungcab.

Just look at Korea. They had Ratliff, Hyun Jung Lee and others. They had much better shooters than Indo but we were able to stop them. Kouame was scoring on Ratliffe in the 4th. Tab was not afraid to use his bench because he wanted his players fresh throughout.

Geeez if I were New Zealand I would tap my Team A probably Kyrie Irving and Pat Mills. Oooops they are Australians. Steven Adams, Sean Marks, Kirk Penney and Aron Baynes are Kiwis. :D
