I mean why will the lakers rebuild.

If they can LITERALLY recruit a top 10 All Time Player each decade. (Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, etc). hehe

and yes. the expectations

I don't like Coach Tab stepping down and the politics in SBP. In a perfect world, if its Coach Tab up to Fiba Asia cup and WC2023, we surely in good hands. But in fairness , I saw some replays of Coach Chot game last Philippine cup and Governors cup and it seems there is less dribble drive and more of motion offense and I even see some pnr, ball screen and swing offense which Coach Tab employs to Gilas. Looks like he is really watching Coach Tab's handling of a team and he is changing his style and system into more versatile system like Coach Tab and not a very predictable DDO and small ball. But we shall see, Coach Chot has a tendency in the past to panic and when he panics , he always rely on small ball.

Teams like the Lakers, cant build young guys because of the pressure of the fans. See Randle, Ingram Lonzo kuz, caruso, Clarkson and company become serviceable, sixth man awardees and even all star players...Thats why they cant do a memphis or phoenix, imagine scrutiny Morant got with the laker fans when he had that so called "sophomore bump" last season

this discussion should be in NBA section already but to close it out, Lakers did that prior to LBJ. and they actually had some young players, that you already mentioned, who helped with the championship. Brodie was a bad move because they are now left with only THT. however, if a deal to get a better player, an all star at that (AD and Brodie), its up to FO to decide if they should pull the trigger or not. the fans can affect the FO, i will agree with that. Phoenix sucks at player development prior to James Jones taking over. after the 7SOL team only Book and Ayton can be considered good drafts. all the top 10 picks we got are either bench players or not in the league anymore. Phx cant trade for a win now player prior to signing Oubre and Rubio because they simply do not have players that other teams would like outside of Book and Ayton. same with Memphis prior to this season, outside of Ja who will you get? an often injured JJJ? Lakers had assets. and now they dont outside of THT and a 1st round pick sometime in the future. essentially i agree with rcg above, Lakers are in the position to develop young players then flip them for better talent. na-Brodie lng tlaga. Phx and Mem were not in that position below.

btw - Kobe and Magic were drafted. Hornets sent Kobe draft night so technically drafted pa din.

going back to Gilas, i was and will be on the side of Gilas players shouldnt be in the PBA. and once we release them to the pro league, thank you and wala na balikan. not gonna happen now. so, good luck nlng :)

Who is the guy to the left of Navarro?

If you watch this video you will realized that Coach Chot implement several plays and not just straight out DDO.

I expect Coach Chot DDO and Coach Nenad Vucinic European style will be combined especially in the future matches.

I notice in some coach chot interviews that Coach Nenad is working with the Gilas players in the background.

As for Coach Chot, Yes, recently, his ddo have some variations of motion plays now.

i'm beginning to think that MVP supported the Vargas-led upheaval in Gilas is due to the contracts signed by Troy and Pogoy, wherein there is an external contract outside the PBA games, which would mean Gilas games. they're blaming B.League as well, which includes the perceived connection to Dickel, and thus Tab, because TNT had to match the contract offers they received from B.League teams. just a hunch on how the Vargas-MVP vs Tab transpired. the insiders on the board should know.

the issue with Chot is not the X's and O's. it's the system best described as the Romeo effect wherein if Romeo does not hold the ball, what does he do to contribute and still be a "threat"? how can we use glorified NBA sets when we are not as athletic as Team USA? that's why IBN had been clamoring for a Euro approach since the time of Toroman, and in essence Tab. can Chot finally adopt a holistic system (i.e.. Euro) approach going away from an NBA approach ?

Coach Chot already have 10-15 media releases/interviews in a week. lol

And another issue I might have is that Chot doesn't use bigs that much, unless they can create from the perimeter like Blatche did. Right now, from Tab's Gilas, none of the bigs are at the level of Blatche when it comes to creating from the perimeter. They are either PnR/PNP threats, low-post guys, or attack only off the catch. We'll need to see if Chot can make use of that, and not relegate them to stretch bigs, putback guys, or drop-off recipients.

This is actually one of my frustrations regarding the use of June Mar when Chot was in charge. He rarely got his number called, either as a PnR recipient or as a post guy. He was just for putbacks and drop-offs.

I actually wondered why?

In 2014 They have post plays for Ping. But almost none for JMF.

JMF was used exclusively as the "abanger" where his skillset doesnt fit.

I believe Kai and AJ next Year will be Comfortable Bigs attacking from the Perimeter.

But for this Windows with Kouame, Rangel, and Erram. Let's see how will they be utilized

That WC , we are just carried by a NBA quality Blatche. Coach Chot still use to much small ball in that WC. i even notice he let, Castro, Paul lee and Tenorio play at the same time. DDO really made us so tired and relied to much on three point shooting that is why we lost games in WC. The Tropang Gilas today is much better and has more plays and less DDO. But i still saw that dreaded small ball sometime, but since it is PBA game then, it is forgivable. DDO and Small ball Pilipinas version will not work, period.

Vertically integrated system for Gilas

Adding the TNT players is a boost. “Hindi sila kinikilabutan kasi sanay na sa international competition,” he said. “We’ve got RR (Pogoy), Troy (Rosario), Poy (Erram), Kelly (Williams) and everyone else should be ready, including Kib (Montalbo), CBC (Carl Bryan Cruz), Brian (Heruela), Glenn (Khobuntin) and Matt (Ganuelas Rosser) whom I originally recruited for Gilas years back. Mikey (Williams), unfortunately, isn’t eligible.

Acting on documents passed by the SBP, Fiba recognized that Slaughter failed to secure his passport before turning 16 - a key prerequisite for dual citizens - but acknowledged that he got his passport at 17 and moved with his family to Cebu at age 19.
