I don't really know dude. This is the 3rd time he managed to land the job after a controversial firing/stepping down. And after the brawl and the headaches not to mention the embarrassment it brought us I was sure there's no way that guy is gonna coach our NT again. It's too much of a coincidence that everything always fell into his lap

If what Quinito was saying was true, Tab first recommended Jong to replace him, but Jong had a health condition or something. I can believe this portion.

However, Tab allegedly also said that he recommended Chot. I dunno if this is really believable.
 
I don't believe Coach Tab recommended Coach Chot. There was a foreign coach that Coach Tab hired to be an assistant coach whose name I forgot. That coach is likely more qualified than Coach Chot.

Is it Nenad? According to press releases he'll be working with Chot now.

I won't believe it unless Tab said it himself.

Maybe we'll get something from Chino Trinidad, who posted a Zoom meeting between him and Tab in Facebook this morning.
 
hearing rumours about tab having a hand in college players leaving for japan. makes me think this is a demolition job by the PBA. personally i dont have any issue tab leaving as i think he was just there as temp coach while SBP is searching for full time coach. if Tab left gilas as coach and as program director then i guess, i would expect zero wins in world cup.

How could the PBA do that? MVP is the decision maker here.

He mentioned two integral parts of Tab's plan for Gilas:

1. Hone and develop players for the international game
2. Build a foundation for the national team in the future

I hope we keep these two parts in mind, even after Tab is gone from the program. Keep them in minds ESPECIALLY FOR THE FOLLOWING WINDOWS. Choose and develop players to be fit for the international game, and use them as foundation. Hope we can keep the defensive foundation that Tab laid down.

Gilas 2 and 2015 also had good defense. In Gilas 2, Tab was an assistant, and probably served as Chot's defensive coordinator. 2015 Gilas, we know Tab became head coach, and we defended well the entire tournament, even in that final.

Well, Chot has gotten TNT to play good defense. Let's see if he can translate that in these windows and in the Asian Cup and WC.

Well, MVP can still be influenced. SBP isn't a dictatorship. Aside from Ricky Vargas's role as VP of SBP, he is also a PBA chairman and TNT Tropang Giga governor. Ricky is obviously against players playing oversees based on his rhetoric.

By the way SBP's board of trustees includes PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, Terrafirma governor Bobby Rosales, and Alaska governor Dickie Bachman. PBA has a lot of pull even in the SBP. Of course, just speculation on my part. Eventually the truth will come out one way or another, we all know that for now the stories don't add up. At least Coach Chot is doing his best despite everything.

The defense was organized at the time too, fron 2013-2016. We defended the shots of SoKor, Lebanon, and Iran, we won not just through offensive brilliance of Castro, Blatche, Terrence, etc. Once the defense disappeared, that's when we fell off and suffered the blowout losses to SoKor, and to Lebanon as well. Point is, defense is the key to helping us remain competitive in the international stage.

And looks like Chot has realized the value of defense, applying it with TNT. They're rotating hard to shooters and cutting off driving lanes. I hope he can translate that to the FIBA level.

Hmm, I dunno what to think of this. He fits in Chot's 3-guard system for sure. Would be a huge get if ever, kahit napaka-unlikely. Adds more talent to the team.

I lost count already as to how many times this news has come out in the past. I hope this time it comes into fruition. Clarkson is a player that has seen all kinds of defense and defenders and scores against each one of them. Definitely would elevate Gilas a notch or two if complemented with the right pieces.

I hope this materializes as we need new inputs to upgrade Chot's DDO. LOL. Besides, it would be nice to have both European (thru Nenad) and American flavors in a Filipno dish.
