" Go the opposite of the pba on everything" LMAO.

This is how bad our bes basketball league in the country

The PBA shouldn't be the one to restrict players career choice,if they do comeback to play for the PBA,its a win,win situation, they're bringing experience, next level skills, that would invigorate the locals and excite the fans.

I don't know but i got feel he has still sights to coach again.. Tab will not last long for us.. And Chot is salivating on coaching the likes of Kai Sotto...

Well, Any local Coach and some int coach would want to coach Gilas Generational Players.

Coach Chot, Coach Will Voight,

Even Coach Rajko's actions are suggesting he in available if gilas will tap him again.

I dont want Coach Chot Though.

His Dribble Drive doesn't maximize the bigs. And our Bigs are one of our main strengths

Agree. This is too guard-oriented. Our bigs might be neglected in a dribble-drive.

He doesn't have a prime Castro now though so that might force him ro be creative especially in the clutch.

This is an example of dribble drive. Well, its Coach Caloy's ROS version of dribble drive. But the concept is the same. Basically a guard attacks, if defense helps, he kicks out. The bigs will only be given touches in drop pass situations. I get the concept of it. But it is too predictable

This is chot's version of Dribble Drive. Which is mainly dependent on attacks of Guards or our Small Wings.

Anyway, to be fair, coach chot has a good showing in WC compared to coach yeng.

I just personally think His System is not fit on gilas personnel right now

And As thatweurdguy said. No Jason Castro now. Castro was one of the main reason that dribble drive looked good.

Hopefully Chot does not entertain ideas in his head about taking over the Gilas coaching job like before.

for all we know he already has a foot inside that door, and half a dagger stuck inside someone's back. (or ass)

Triangle offense of Tim Cone might fare better since the personnel available now for Gilas fits in with the system.

Haha tnt is the validation of his first foot on that door..Tab still has favors given the ateneo run and his willingness to step aside( Project Director which a setup that Chot likes)..Politics within the mvp umbrella..

The PBA right now is more like a clique than a business.

If the PBA thinks like a business, they'd be allowing nsturalized players as well as players from Southeast Asia to expand their reach. Imagine Prastawa and Grahita playing as "local imports". That will attract Indonesian viewers.

Yeah.. i just thinking of this also.. If PBA wants to generate more money then invite players in SEA region.. Imagine Jakrawan playing here or Jawato.. These players can hang on vs our local players.. Even the likes of Christian Juzang and Dierker of Vietnam.. I hope PBA thinks the same..

Aside from money, the PBA can also be some kind of "soft power". Haha

An Invitational with one Asian import, and another big import, and inviting 2 pro clubs, make it a short fast tournament and televise or stream it to countries that they have the Asian import.

Here is it what it comes down to on players we can realistically rely on ( no question marks) for 2023

Bigs - Kai, Kouame, Baltazar ( we cannot really include AJ as of now due to question mark on injury)
wings- Dwight , Thirdy, Clarkson
Guards- Kiefer , Heading. Matt Nieto ( yes he's actually kind of a lock as a glue guy)

^What happens if Kouame doesnt get an exception as others believe?

Surely, you still go with the sixth man of the year?

What about Javi? His eize will really benefit the team on the wings. Even better if he maintains his shooting even if the opponents will be more difficult than Thailand.

That's why i don't bite that idea of some Filipino coaches that they will eat the spots of local players.. For who? Guys like Vosotros, Salado, Abundo and most of bench warmers? This is not charity institution.. Some of them pa nga eh they were in the league because of backers or "palakasan" due to their father is an assistant coach or came from a high ranked schools.. If PBA wants to generate money then they should thinking outside the country for talents, atleast sa SEA region muna.. Jakrawan for sure will be hot commodity for all of PBA teams, same as Jawato, Dierker, Lamb and that fat guy from Singapore.. Di nag eexpand ang PBA because they still focus on our area only.. PBA fans wants some new taste.. Mas popular pa nga dito guys like Jawato, Lamb, and even Grahita (haters alike) than most of the PBA players here...

Agree. I hate it when they use that argument. So they'd rather use those slots for the lataks that don't really deserve to play in the league? If they're really that charitable they should just give them the money and hire better basketball players

That's a question that can have an answer reserved until just prior to July 2023. no need to make the decision now. It's better to make the assesment and call then, who knows, AJ may be balling., or Clarkson may have regressed or Kai may be fully developed , so many unknown factors yet to be determined and as such we can wait and reserve to make call then (mid 2023), important thing is to focus on what we can do now.. get as many possible players to be developed and suitable to choose from

We still have leagues likes of MPBL, NBL-PH and even Vis-Min cup for them.. We have too much leagues here.. PBA should act that they are high quality league.. We are now in Globalization world.. PBA needs to realize that.. Get that market of Indonesia, Thailand and those from SEA market, Especially these teams are named by brand.. Expose their brands outside PH... Actually, these "lataks" decreasing the quality of the league.. Nagiging low class ang PBA because of these low class players...

True. As if it's the star players who's gonna get displace by imports. It's these low class players who should be playing in the lower leagues. They need to inject new players who could bring more quality qnd excitement to the league.

The composition of a Gilas team should always have one or two 3s that can slide to a big 2,should it come to defending a real big 2 on the other side.

a jimmy butler type of player that can guard all positions when needed. having 1 is a blessing, but 2 is already a pipe dream.

a well-developed and slightly taller lebron lopez comes to mind.

and now that we have kai and edu as well as a bunch of other slightly shorter but skilled centers in the roster, i personally think that our future naturalized player should resemble this prototype.

A younger and more defensive Justin Brownlee, if you will.

Triangle offense of Tim Cone might fare better since the personnel available now for Gilas fits in with the system.

Actually. Cone's traditional triangle will utilize and develop the passing skills of Kai, Go, and Tamayo, whether as the focal point of the triangle or in the pinch post. Makes perfects sense, as the offense will run through the bigs (who are oftentimes more willing passers than the guards except for Matt and probably Kiefer). And there are few guards that resort to 1-on-1 in the current team.

It's a good idea, actually.

If Chot will again coach Gilas in the future.. I think he will use Kai just like he did with Blatche.. Chot gives Blatche all he wants that time.. Maybe he will do the same for Kai.. while Baltazar or Tamayo will be his RDO.. Edu and Kouame will be his taller Pingris or better version of Japeth...

Difference is, Blatche operated from the perimeter. Chot runs his offense through the perimeter.

Right now, though, our strong point is our low-post bigs. Chot will have to play through the post so that he can run it through Kai.
