Need more proof???

Other big names who are not in the pool are Paul Lee and Jeff Chan of Rain or Shine and Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel Beer.
Controversies
The Inquirer spoke to one of the noted absentees, who asked that he not be identified for fear of being traded away by his team.
“After all of these controversies that are happening, I sincerely hope that something good happens, and that is for Gilas to win,” said the player, who was with the Gilas Pilipinas team that won the Jones Cup and was also a mainstay of the 2013 Fiba Asia squad.
“It just pains me to be reading all the things they are saying about me, and it makes me doubly guilty because I don’t like the decision (of not joining the pool this time) I made of begging off,” he said.

Another said that it was a pity that the team owners in the PBA couldn’t get together as they should for national cause, citing the solid opportunity that the country has to get back in the Olympics next year.
“I honestly believe that if this team had the same components of the team that played in Spain, we would be very hard to beat,” said the other player. “But of course, it’s out of our hands. We players do what we’re told to do.
Negative effect
A third former Gilas mainstay said that Pingris’ decision could have a negative effect on the other players in the pool, noting that: “you know how basketball players think.”
He said that, after begging off, he has totally abandoned all hopes of being able to join the squad not only because his team did not grant him the release, but he believes that it is too late in the day for him and all the others to do so.

“They have been in training for what, two weeks-plus?” he asked. “The bad thing about it is that some of the other players who were there from Day 1 might think that we are sacred cows.”
“I just envy (those who were able to join the pool). Sayang, malakas sana ang team (It’s a pity because the team is strong) with Andray (Blatche, Gilas’ naturalized player) being more familiar with the team now. But life must go on for all of us.”
The Inquirer also asked Gilas team manager Butch Antonio to comment on Pingris’ change of heart, but Antonio has yet to reply.

It's time to move on. If they are going to play they are going to play. Is there a game later tonight?

It may sound as another "paasa pa" statement, but I think Ping is serious this time. I don't think Ping would stake his reputation by making such a "paasa" statement.

I believe that just as most (if not all) Gilas-2 players, Pingris really wants to play for the national team. Its just that he is being prohibited by that pig of an employer in RSA.

That's why I'm not really hard on the players who turned their backs from the call of national duty. I understand them. I understand the players but will never forgive that pig of an CEO in RSA.

Support Gilas and the current players....but continue to give shit on PBA and SMC....and continue to make those SMC players feel guilty so that no future player will ever say no to playing for the country.

i for one an SMB fan since high school days but with what is happening now, im turning my back in supporting the team. Down SMC!
To PBA, you know that you benefit in every publicity the Natl Team had in the past. through the team achievement last 2013 for sure there were differences in the gate attendance and viewership in PBA games and definitely know the repercussions to the league with this fiasco. You should think over that if you still want the league to continue.

Move-on, just make the best out of what we have.
I guess Blatche will play at center with Asi backing him up (and Thoss).
The 4 spot, I guess RDO will start, his back-up will either be Troy or Aldrech (one of them will be put in the reserve list)
The three spot will be shared between Beast, Rocket and MGR.
SG will be Granada and Dondon
At PG, Castro will start and depending on the match-ups, Gabe and Romeo are there to back him up.

Lets all hope gary david will explode like the powerade days or else he will tag as the player who is good in PBA but a bad player in FIBA.

everyone is replaceable except for Fajardo, basketball Gods pls give us some miracle

No this is not good enough proof for Lawyer Manu Bull. Unless the players identify themselves and say it on camera for all their boses to see, it's not proof ! circumstances , actions etc don't count. Just like all those salavage rumors during Marcos years don't count.

Again, statement from the player himself: (definitely, its not LA)

“To be honest, it wasn’t an easy decision,” said the 31-year-old Tenorio. “I asked a lot of people for advice. My wife wanted me to play for Gilas. In the end, it was a personal decision, nothing to do with the San Miguel Group. In fairness, the San Miguel Group gave us players the option, it was up to us."

moving on, you know what, i really am not worried at all about the pool members of Gilas 3.0.. i mean first off, Marcio Lassiter, yes he is a very good player.. but he is a player we never had.. we have survived winning silver medal and winning 1 game in the World Cup without Marcio.. he may have been a factor, he may just be an ordinary player.. we never know but one thing we know is we have performed well without him.. Dondon and Gary and Terrence should step up.. and we have Jimmy of course.. it is all about going the extra mile.. stepping up..

now Junemar Fajardo, yes he is a total loss.. though he really didn't dominate FIBA Asia and World Cup, BUT he turned out to be and developed into a good back-up center to our naturalized center.. key word BACK-UP.. that has been his role ever since.. and we still performed well.. so all we need to do is transform ASI and SONNY into reliable back-up centers, which is doable in every way.. stepping up as well..

as for the others nothing has changed.. we still have RDO, Ping, yes we don't have Japeth, but we have Troy.. with a lot of upside..

then we have the intangible which is Calvin Abueva..

so really, personnel wise i am not worried at all.. what i am worried about is the chemistry to be a cohesive unit.. actually i am still ok with Ping joining them if he is 100% committed to the cause.. because frankly, it is still early.. but with the amount of time we have and much games to be played, that is what i am worried about..

Ping i think doesn't have problem financially as he is the in-law of Vic Sotto, thinking that if Gilas will qualify for RIO then it is really a chance of a lifetime most of the players could only dream of. Weighing his option I do think that it is a no brainer that he would choose Gilas that even his family probably told him to. The problem with allowing Ping to be a member of the pool will be the Moral of the players who were there till day one. If Ping is to be allowed to join then he should work for it and fight for a spot in the team. But then again, if he will not be part of the final 12 then SMC will have a reason to bash Gilas.

i know the couple.. i know LA and his wife chesca.. i know how they are in terms of believing and doing for a cause.. and they love to support Pilipinas no matter what.. ever since Ateneo days..

yes it may seem a personal decision.. technically.. but there are a lot of ways to persuade you to act against your will, but not order you to do it.. in a corporate setting, if you want people to leave the company but have no basis to do so (of course because of the labor code), you have a lot of ways to do it, uncomfortable working environment, increasing deadlines, targets and quotas to almost unreachable levels.. then you are forced to resign.. but did the company tell you to resign? no not at all..

just saying..

For me it's really about coming togther as a team, I was with the Tall Blacks in their latest series vs the Boomers, while they loss and were obviously undersize you could see how the team came together in the build up.

I've been getting messages from Estonia on how Gilas is coming together, these guys right now are in the right enviromment to focus. yeah there are better players out there. but the key thing is we have decent players and more importantly players who want to be here ( fully supporeted) .
I mean you look at a guy like JC intal
http://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/news/intals-humble-story-with-gilas
Yes he's not as talented as Marcio, but i actually can't say ang layu. he's still a guy who averages double figures in the PBA - it's not like if Marcio played 80 % of his level he would definitly be better than a 100 % Intal. Now here is the thing we can realistically get a 100 % Intal, he is dying to be where he is.
Now the sum of their parts might not be great. but if this team can come togehter they can actually be scary good. U still have the best player in Asia and best PG, and a great coach.
If you ask me i'd rather have decent talent with excellent cohesion and hard work than good talents but lack of cohesion and half hearted players
