Philippines Cadet/Developmental Team

Bro, you talk as if you could do a better job than Josh Reyes on the Gilas bench.

There's probably a reason why it is Josh who is coaching the cadet in the the Challenge Cup and not you.

You are sharp! Perceptively sharp.

he might be Tim Cone for all we know. :D :D :D

Guys, what difference do you think Kiefer Ravena could bring to the cadet team? I watched some of Kiefer's game with the cadet team in last year's SEA Games, and I think he did well playing the point. He brought stability, poise & court savvy to the team & he played excellent defense. But of course, its just South East Asia level.

I wonder what difference Kiefer would have made if he is our starting point guard in the Challenge Cup.

I would pay top "dollar" to see that.

Huge difference, and I am only going with what stock I remember of Kiefer's game and not the one envisioned after a recalibration of his game after the apparent tussling against tougher opposition of the hombres in the US basketbal scene.

He would have brought another "go to" guy that this most recent Gilas iteration badly needed and would have taken away from Tolomia's air of supreme confidence and an indifference emanating from a false sense of stardom on the team, thereby avoiding petiks mode.

But he could even become a better point guard after that experience in the US. For one, his defense may even improve further. I mean in the Drew League, or in the NBA D-League try-outs, Kiefer most likely has been or is playing point guard considering the fact that he is a bit short playing the 2 spot in the US.

Didn't want to conclude the obvious as an assumption of an upgrade in skill set as an offshoot from playing against US strength opposition is inconclusive as the Ray Parks Jr. hex suggests otherwise.

If for anything though, of all his gifts, Kiefer's bball IQ IMO, is the one that stands out. It would then seem to follow, having said that, that the US experience would likely be an enhancer than a distraction to his progression as a basketball professional.

The jury is out for Jordan, as if nor Dan continues to show good performance than the theory might be true. From Iran Philippines and now Jordan, the moment ottoman leave his nd the next year they will exp a huge improvement in terms of performance and results..Iran destroying China at home.. Philippines getting a Jones cup title and Jordan?

Despite its semifinal loss to Iran, Jordan really made waves in this tournament, enough reason for coach Sam Daghlas to be optimistic going into the home-and-away games next year.

But things will be different in the home-and-away games starting next year. In the Challenge Cup, some of the teams sent just their developmental teams or perhaps their national team-B. In the home-and-away game series all teams will play full force, meaning they will send their national team-A, no less. I think Korea and Japan did not send some of their elite players in the Challenge Cup. But in the home-and-away games, I bet they will send all their elite players.

So I think Jordan will be tested how it will fare against the elite Asian teams playing in full force.

Name 12 players who could be offered Gilas 5 contracts?
my take
1 Pogoy
2. Talomia
3. Belo
4 Escoto
5 Jose ( Jan after UAAP)
6. CJ Perez (after his stint in college , Oct next year?)
7 Wright ( this is confirmed he signed yesterday)
8. Keifer
9 Parks (will be offered question is will he sign , maybe after the NBA d-league - May 2017, can wait)
10 Jio (after his college stint)
11. Opstal
12 Ferrer

By early next year you can have a regular team. Note this is just the players under contract ( not the team to be fielded for the home away or FIBA Asia cup , which could have players from college, abroad and the PBA

I'm hoping that SBP has soured on Ferrer like most of us here. He simply is not reliable for FIBA.

Was Pogoy that good? I didn't see the games and I don't see his stats jumping out in the boxscores.

Defense and i'm not quite sure he made to the double digit scoring 2 times? i'm sure he's more reliable than kevin last tournament.
