Philippines Cadet/Developmental Team

no Jasper. The tv was on but I was doing something else. I think I heard Escobar said there used to be a 15 player limit but this time they allowed the thais to have more players. Im not sure though if I heard it right. Thats why I asked here if someone can confirm

It's the number daisom was allowed to use 73 as his jersey number instead of traditional 4 to 15 number

The time I win the lottery is the time when Alaska lends all its players requested by Tab.

well congratulations in advance!

If you can prove that, well show it to me. but if you just based your point on what you had read in the internet or what others told you, tsk tsk tsk SMH.
same to what happened to greg and marcio, they had a press interview on their decission not to join the national team, but still media and some "expert-expert" people in the cyberworld blamed the management.

these games happen.. remember china kids vs. india? good thing we won against thailand, unlike the chinese who lost to india..

there are 3 things i ponder..

1. either gilas cadets are out of shape, and i am not talking about physical shape, but gameday shape
2. gilas cadets are out of focus
3. tab baldwin is a bad choice to coach a bunch of younglings.. i do feel tab baldwin relies on veterans..

wow #12 that hit a ton of 3's against us was 1-10 vs SG and sukhdve thai sakuragi was 1-5 2pts

That's what happens vs home cooking. That's why we're grateful to Troy and Almond. Very level-headed players.

he's the same guy who got T'd up during the crucial minutes for shouting on No.5 PG of SG because the latter looked like he threw a punch(second motion) on another Thai player after a foul play.

maybe we should have 2 year military service here and do the same with the athletes.Anyways,i think we'll be facing Indonesia again.I just hope we'll do the same performance the last time we faced them.

Maybe not a bad choice, probably more things to develop as a team for cadets.

Some notes on the current performance of Cadets during this tournament.
1. After an impressive stint last SEABA, Jalalon looks lost on the rotation (due to Baser Amer's entry or was he somehow injured?).
2. Mac Belo continues to play sub-par.
3. Kevin Ferrer can't hit those corner 3's.
4. We dont have a 3rd string Center after Douthit and Torres. We surely miss the service of Escoto.
5. Hope Khoubuntin(?) to contain his emotions. his energy and hustle is needed against the veteran Indons if we are to play them in the gold medal match.

another SG player went down after a bad fall. twisted ankle i think. Wishing a speedy recovery for him.

The thai team was composed of veterans from fiba asia 2013 and the abl games.

Moreover, these types of games do happen like when Malaysia almost beat china with yao several years back.

This is the first valid criticism that Tab rightfully should receive. Bad preparation and lethargic start. And our players' game mentality was simply not there at the beginning.

I still believe that youth teams should be sent to the SEA Games. This one good(or fluke) performance by the Thais does not reflect the entire competition in SEA. The rest are still not very good. We should question if Thailand's performance is sustainable and can we expect that they will perform as strong as they did against us in future competitions? This should have been the gold medal game and the Thais could have gotten a silver but I would say that their plan backfired and they will have to settle for a bronze finish.

They needed to hide their players to surprise us. That was their plan. If they performed much better at the start of the tournament then we could have scouted them and prepared a lot better.

Let's not forget we can also play this way. We can hide our players and surprise anyone of them. But we don't. We use all our players against SEA teams. Easier to scout us.

Two things that we should learn from this game is that we need preparation and always have proper game mentality. Scouting might not be there because teams can hide their players. Regardless of the team we send in SEA(Team A, pro team, hybrid), it doesn't matter, this game against the Thais would still have been close because we took it for granted. In a way, this serves as a wake-up call -- but let's not get carried away.

Back in 2013 sinag team barely beat Singapore and this year they barely beat Thailand. This type of games happened.

The kind of game Thailand played against us was a once in a blue moon thing-- they played their best basketball while Sinag played its worst. I'm sure the boys will hear no end of it from Tab for playing below their ability. Sending Gilas would've been overkill.

And the obvious bias of the refs didn't help either. Too many no calls when we're on offense. So many times our bigs got hammered inside and the refs swallowed their whistles. And Khobuntin getting thrown out on a flagrant foul while Ghogar got away scott-free for throwing the Muay Thai elbow that started the whole fracas? We should complain to FIBA.
